Ever Forward Salvage Plan Details - April 7

 

(Video) On this episode, Sal Mercogliano - former merchant mariner and maritime historian at Campbell University - discusses the revised salvage plan for MV Ever Forward, aground off Baltimore, Maryland since March 13. The plan involves continued dredging, the use of anchored barges for winching the ship off the shoal, and removal of about 550 containers via to floating cranes. The expected attempt to free the ship is scheduled for mid-to late April.

The decision was made recently, but talks about it have been going on for a while. First they said they would try the 3rd attempt to refloat, before unloading containers, but now it seems they´ll unload and then try.

 

Things take time. Looks like it´s going to happen, starts soon. At least a two week project, they say.

I´ve been tracking ever forward, the decision to unload containers is rather recent, made after the 2nd attempt to refloat failed.
