Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye
Employee Training Specialist
Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, 79, a specialist in human resources management and development who retired in the early 1980s after working for a number of government and professional organizations, died of respiratory failure March 30 at George Washington University Hospital.
In a career that spanned three decades, Mrs. Jenkins-Nye worked at various times for the Office of Personnel Management, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, AARP, the General Services Administration, the Agriculture Department, the Labor Department and the David Taylor Model Basin.
Her duties varied as well but centered on counseling employees for career and educational planning. She retired in the early 1980s after about three years as a training officer with the National Archives and ran her own consulting business.
Mrs. Jenkins-Nye, an Arlington resident, was born in Durham, N.C., and raised in Baltimore. She graduated from Goucher College with a degree in psychology and received a master's degree in education and a doctorate in human resource development, both from George Washington University.
During World War II, she served in the Navy WAVES as a code breaker stationed in Washington.
Her marriage to Edwin Darby Nye Sr. ended in divorce.
Survivors include three children, Edwin Darby Nye Jr. of Arlington, William Sanford Nye of Seattle and Susan Nye Dallas of Providence, N.C.; a brother; a sister; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
