Al Gore and David Blood to Create Fund Manager Just Climate
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and David Blood are teaming up again to take advantage of institutional investors’ thirst to fund the climate transition initiatives pushed by multinational corporations, various governments, and COP 26 (Conference of the Parties). Al Gore and Blood formed Generation Investment Management nearly two decades ago. The duo are now creating Just Climate, a new fund manager that will target private companies that seeks to impact on helping lowering the world’s temperature.
Shaun Kingsbury CBE, formerly CEO of UK Green Investment Bank, has joined Just Climate as chief investment officer.
Generation Investment Management plans to contribute just 3% of assets to Just Climate. Other apparent backers include the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund and Stichting IKEA Foundation. Other investors in the platform include Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, Harvard Management Company (Harvard University endowment), Imprint Group of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and Hall Capital Partners and its clients.
