Such names come from either Armenian or Turkish families or God knows what other families. His name does not follow the name tradition Bulgarians follow.
Bulgarians have the names of their ancestors, for example Stefan Georgiew Bogdanow which would mean Stefan is the son of Georgi who is the son of Bogdan.
There is no such Bulgarian name with -i at the end.
