USPS Stops Delivering Mail in Santa Monica, California After Multiple Carriers Assaulted

The United States Postal Service is stopping mail service temporarily in one Santa Monica neighborhood after multiple mail carriers were assaulted, according to officials.

In the letter from USPS sent to neighbors in the 1300 block of 14th Street, officials said “the Postal Service does not enter into decisions to suspend service lightly.”

USPS did not elaborate on the assaults.

USPS says those who are affected by this mail service suspension can pick up mail at the USPS facility located at 1653 7th Street.

It’s unclear at this time when mail service will resume.

Sickening death threats levelled at Brittany Higgins and partner David Sharaz

The former Liberal staffer has revealed that she, her partner and dog have been subjected to a series of vile threats.

Brittany Higgins has opened up on some of the sickening abuse and death threats she has received after going public with allegations she was raped in a federal minister’s office in 2019.

The former Liberal parliamentary staffer on Monday revealed on Twitter her partner and dog were now also the target of death threats.

“I’ve copped a lot of abuse and numerous death threats since speaking publicly about my experience in Parliament House,” Higgins said.

“However, targeting my partner and threatening to chop up my little cavoodle is a whole new low.

“Please be better everyone.”

She also shared the original tweet her partner, David Sharaz, posted on the platform, which included the screenshot of an exchange on Instagram.

“Someone on Instagram just messaged me threatening to kill me, Brittany and our dog,” he said.

“None of this is OK.”

Sharaz shared the screenshot of the interaction with a random account.

“I’ll bury you both. I will kill you both when you least expect it,” the Instagam user threatened.

When Sharaz asked if the person making the threats knew of their location, they replied: “Yes”.

“I’m going to chop Kingston (Higgins’ cavoodle) up into little pieces,” the threats continued.

“I will follow you home from work and destroy you all.

Jared Kushner’s $US2b Saudi cash injection raises eyebrows

A spokesperson for the Saudi fund declined to comment on its investment process. If any additional discussions about the deal took place, they were not reflected in the documents and correspondence obtained by The New York Times.

The Times reported last fall that Kushner had been seeking a Saudi investment. Now, the internal fund records and correspondence obtained by the Times show the outcome, scale and timing of his firm’s deal as well as the debate it aroused. Those documents and other filings indicate that, at this point, Kushner’s venture depends primarily on the Saudi money.

Kushner planned to raise up to $US7 billion in all, according to a document prepared last summer for the Saudi fund’s board. But so far he appears to have signed up few other major investors.

In its most recent public filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, dated March 31, Kushner’s firm reported that its main fund had $US2.5 billion under management, almost entirely from investors based overseas. Most of that appears to be the $US2 billion from Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi documents obtained by the Times say that in return for its investment, the Saudi fund would receive a stake of at least 28 per cent in Kushner’s main investment vehicle.

No law or rules constrain the investment activities of former administration officials after leaving the White House; many from both parties have profited from connections and experiences gained in government.

Kushner, whose fund has not publicly disclosed a theme or focus, has little experience or track record in private equity.

But Robert Weissman, president of nonprofit group Public Citizen, called Kushner’s relationship with the Saudis “extremely troubling,” arguing that his stance toward the kingdom’s leadership as a senior adviser “makes the business partnership appear even more to be both a reward to, and an investment in, Kushner.”

Maryland Lawmakers Override Governor’s Veto To Pour Millions Into Training New Abortionists

Maryland will pour $3.5 million each year into training people who aren’t medical doctors to perform abortions after lawmakers overturned Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s Friday veto.

The training program is part of a bill that eliminates a ban on abortions performed by people who aren’t doctors and requires most private health insurance providers to cover abortion procedures. The legislature overrode Hogan’s veto of the bill on Saturday.

Nurse practitioners, midwives, nurse-midwives, and physicians assistants will be allowed to perform abortions in Maryland starting July 1.

“House Bill 937 endangers the health and lives of women by allowing non-physicians to perform abortions,” Hogan wrote in his Friday veto letter. “The bill risks lowering the high standard of reproductive health care services received by women in Maryland.”

“These procedures are complex and can, and often do, result in significant complications that require the attention of a licensed physician,” he added.

Maryland state lawmaker Joseline Peña-Melnyk, a vocal supporter of the legislation, characterized the legislature’s veto override as a means of protecting public health officials from political influence.

“That this legislation is necessary is an unfortunate reflection on the undue political influence we have seen in our public health policy,” she said in a speech to the legislature. “Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, public health officials have increasingly become political targets. They have experienced retaliation from elected officials.”

Maryland is the latest of several states expanding abortion access, including Colorado, which recently legalized abortion up to birth.

That’s what Vice President Harris talked about when she talked about the rise of the right and white supremacy.”

He added, “That is why I have said I don’t think we have two parties in this country anymore. One is a semi-governing party called the Democrats, and the other is a dime storefront for a terrorist organization called MAGA. That is the real problem here. It is no longer about lies and disinformation. It’s about our sitting government controlling dangerous people who do not believe in democracy anymore. This election— while it’s a cliche to say every election is the most important —if these secretaries of state get into office, there’s no way they’ll let any Democrat win the electoral vote in 2024.”
