Italy seizes 105 million euro property in Sardinia belonging to Russian F1 driver Nikita Mazepin and oligarch father

Italian authorities have seized properties belonging to Russian Formula One driver Nikita Mazepin and his oligarch father, worth 105 million euros ($114.45 million) on the island of Sardinia, according to Reuters.

Police sources told Reuters that a villa known as "Rocky Ram" in northern Sardinia was the target of the operation. Mazepin was placed on an EU sanctions list in March along with his father Dmitry, who the EU described as being in Putin's immediate circle.

In March, the F1 driver was also kicked off of the US-based Haas Formula One team, and said that Russian athletes were the victims of "cancel culture." No public reason was shared for his termination, but it was believed to be linked to his father's ties to the Kremlin.

They get to keep a big chunk of this (Guardia di Finanza) this is why when those Kennedy bonds were seized in Chiasso (from the Japanese) in 2009 the US-specifically Turbo Tax Timmay-came out and said they were fake cause the Italians would have kept a sizeable chunk of that according to own laws

BlackRock dismisses 3 managing directors for engaging in 'coordinated' effort to quit

The trio will join Apollo Global Management as it looks to expand its secondary solutions business

BlackRock dismissed three managing directors in its private equity division for engaging in a "coordinated" effort to leave the investment management firm. Steve Lessar and Konnin Tam both served as managing directors and the co-heads of secondaries and liquidity solutions for BlackRock's Private Equity Partners business. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2018, Lessar and Tam served as managing directors and the global co-heads of the Vintage Funds business for Goldman Sachs' Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group.

Meanwhile, Veena Isaac, who also worked as a managing director for secondaries and liquidity solutions for BlackRock's private equity business, joined the company in 2019 after serving as a partner at Jasper Ridge Partners LP and a principal at Pantheon Ventures, according to her LinkedIn profile. "The action we took reflects how seriously we take our commitment to putting the interests of our clients first and how the actions of these individuals fell short of what we expect of our employees," Edwin Conway, global head of BlackRock Alternative Investors, and Russell Steenberg, global head of BlackRock Private Equity Partners, reportedly wrote in a memo obtained by Bloomberg confirming the departures. "BlackRock made the decision to terminate all three employees after learning of their intention to depart the firm in a coordinated fashion."

The memo reportedly states that Lynn Baranski, global head of investments at the private equity partners unit, will lead Blackrock's secondaries fund moving forward. A representative for BlackRock declined to comment. Meanwhile, the trio is headed to Apollo Global Management.

"We will soon welcome Konnin, Steve and Veena to Apollo, and are pleased by the caliber of talent that we continue to attract to the firm as we expand into new growth opportunities such as secondary solutions," an Apollo spokesperson told FOX Business.

In April 2021, the firm launched Apollo Credit Secondaries, a platform with $1 billion in assets to deploy to private credit secondary transactions.

Joe Biden's Tuesday visit to Iowa

Joe Biden will be in Iowa Tuesday to discuss his economic agenda and will announce lifting restrictions on E15 gasoline sales to help ease fuel prices. Biden's trip comes as gas prices reach record highs and his approval numbers in the Hawkeye State and across the country crater. The president will direct the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to use an emergency waiver to allow summer sales of gasoline with 15% ethanol, called E15, to help boost fuel supplies, a senior administration official said Monday. Biden will make the announcement at a Poet ethanol plant in Menlo, a town of fewer than 400 people about 50 miles west of Des Moines. The move is expected to cut prices for U.S. motorists by at least 10 cents a gallon, the White House said. E15 is currently banned in some states from June 1 to Sept. 15 because is believed to contribute to smog during warmer weather. Supporters of ethanol say that is unfounded.
