I am of the school of thought that says you inter-

pret Revelation, an admittedly challenging book, in the most literal way possible.

Christians (like the believers in Smyrna, Rev. 2:9) are not 'replacement' Jews. Nor are Churches (buildings which would have been outlawed in Roman Asia Minor), 'replacement' synagogues.

At no time, in either of these verses are we

given any indication of the actual doctrines

of this cult of Judaism (Say they are Jews, and are not'), or their practices, outside of their

persecution of Smyra's Christians (also of

Philadelphia), and that they were not Jews.

So, any suggestion of their belief system would

have to be that which we would ADD to the

Scripture, which is absolutely forbidden in

the same book (22:18-19).

Let this go–Christians are not Jews; Chruches

are not Synagogues. Lesson ends.
