The picture is being generated in all our minds. Countless fragments of a broken mirror, and we desperately, painfully pull those shards out of our mutilated hearts and minds, offering them up as incomplete and inadequate truths.

But we were able toto do something.

Now we have won ourselves the grand prize of rehabilitating a world trashed by evil beings. Also not so fun, but at least a preferable trajectory to where we were heading 3 years ago, or 5.

I lived that way for 3 and a half years, just as you describe, but in a climate that gets down to minus 40, and I did have basic electric light, which helps a lot.
Agreed that that lifestyle is an excellent way to treat PTSD, that was my experience too, but I would prefer something less extreme. I trust that there are a lot of minds with me in the "design kickass homesteading gear" hivemind.
