Military is massively comped. Lower ranks have lots of everyday patriots, but only political snakes make it to the highest levels of leadership. Who could "trust the military" to "save them" from the very bioweapons created and released by the very same military? Operation Warp Speed was a US Mil attack on the entire world.
What are they supposed to wake up to? Elections are worthless and the only way to "take back" the country is a civil war and by destroying everything…bombing ourselves back to the Stone Age? Good luck selling that message.
Only under a regime that respects the Constitution, not one who finiggles through every loophole to impose tyranny.

"Good" or otherwise, the number of idols authorized by Yahweh is zero.
The number of additional gods is also zero.
So, either the OT is null, and should be put away, or it isn't. Pick your own adventure religions might be fun, but they carry no moral superiority.
