Aspen is a dangerous airport because of the altitude. Lots of accidents there. 32 deaths at that specific airport since 1982, not counting those from aircraft nearby.
Flying in and out of that airport is not "routine." It's actually one of the most dangerous airports in the country. There's the 5k ft altitude of the airport. The radical changes in wind direction and speed will drop airspeed by 10, 20 knots at a time. Inexperienced pilots crash there.
That proves my point. It's an extremely dangerous airport for inexperienced pilots. And experienced, but arrogant pilots.
Then again a dangerous airport would be perfect cover for an attempted (or successful) hit. "The pilot(s) just fucked up."
