Russia urges Ukrainian stronghold to surrender

Moscow promises to spare the lives of “nationalist militants” and “foreign mercenaries” in Mariupol

The Russian Defense Ministry has called on the remaining Ukrainian forces, besieged at a steel plant in the coastal city of Mariupol, to lay down their arms, offering guarantees of life and safety, if they accept the proposal and halt all hostilities starting Saturday morning.

“Considering the catastrophic situation at the Azovstal metallurgical plant, and being guided by purely humane principles, the Russian Armed Forces offer militants of nationalist battalions and foreign mercenaries to stop hostilities and lay down their arms starting 6am Moscow time on April 17, 2022,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a late-night announcement on Friday.

“All who lay down their weapons are guaranteed the preservation of life,” the ministry stated.

Earlier on Friday, Moscow revealed its estimate of Ukrainian casualty numbers, claiming that in the city of Mariupol alone Kiev has lost more than 4,000 combatants, including “foreign mercenaries” and “Nazis” associated with the notorious Azov and Aidar regiments.

In its ceasefire proposal, the Russian military said that the remaining resisting troops are in a “hopeless situation, with virtually no food and water,” citing the contents of hundreds of radio intercepts on Friday alone. The holed-up fighters allegedly “persistently request permission from the officials in Kiev to lay down their arms and surrender,” while Ukrainian authorities “categorically forbid it under the threat of wartime executions,” Moscow claimed.

Moscow has therefore offered Ukrainian troops to establish a direct communication line at 5am, and indicate the beginning of the actual ceasefire at 6am by raising flags around the perimeter of Azovstal – red on the Russian side and white on the Ukrainian side. The Ukrainian units will then have until 1pm to withdraw from their stronghold, without any weapons or ammunition.

Moscow's proposal and the terms of surrender “will be broadcast continuously throughout the night to Ukrainian formations at Azovstal on all radio channels at 30-minute intervals,” the ministry added.

Earlier this week, more than 1,000 service members of Ukraine’s 36th Marines Brigade allegedly laid down their arms at the Illich Steel and Iron Works, a giant metal mill they were using as a stronghold against Moscow's forces. The report, however, was disputed by Ukrainian officials.

Mariupol has seen some of the most intense fighting since Russia launched its offensive. Moscow attacked its neighbor in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements signed in 2014, and Russia’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German and French brokered Minsk Protocol was designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

Russia accuses Ukraine of hiding military losses

Moscow claims Kiev has lost 23,367 combatants combined from the army, national guard and foreign mercenaries

Ukraine has suffered the “irretrievable loss” of an estimated 23,367 troops since Russia launched its military offensive in February, the Ministry of Defense in Moscow stated on Saturday.

The casualty figures were revealed by Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov, who said that in the city of Mariupol alone Ukraine has lost more than 4,000 fighters, including “foreign mercenaries” and “Nazis” associated with the notorious Azov and Aidar regiments.

In a statement, the general accused President Volodymyr Zelensky of hiding the true scale of his country's losses, saying the president “is afraid to tell the people of Ukraine” how many soldiers have died.

Konashenkov explained that Russia has obtained documents proving the figures, and would soon publish more detailed information from these files.

Ukraine claims to have lost between 2,500 and 3,000 soldiers across its entire territory. This was the figure Zelensky gave to CNN in an interview on Friday, while claiming that the Russian military had suffered as many as 20,000 casualties of its own. Moscow heavily disputes Zelensky’s claims. According to a count published by the Russian government last month, just over 1,3450 Russia had died, at that juncture.

Konashenkov said that over the course of the day, Russian forces launched high-precision missile strikes on six Ukrainian military equipment sites and seven troop strongholds, while Russian air assets destroyed 67 troop and equipment sites.

Russian forces shot down a Ukrainian military transport aircraft near Odessa, Konashenkov also claimed, stating that the plane was “delivering a large batch of weapons supplied to Ukraine by Western countries.” Russia had previously declared that such foreign arms shipments would be considered “legitimate targets” by its forces.

Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden authorized an $800 million package of heavy weapons for Ukraine, including artillery pieces and helicopters. According to a CNN report on Friday, the first flight of weapons from this package was due to arrive in Ukraine within a day.

Over the course of Friday night and into Saturday morning, Russia used high-precision strikes to destroy an armored-vehicle manufacturing plant in Kiev and a military repair depot in the city of Nikolaev in southern Ukraine, Konashenkov said earlier on Saturday. A total of 16 targets were hit overnight, including Ukrainian military units, weapons and ammunition depots, and radar facilities, he added.

Moscow warned earlier this week that it would step up such strikes, and would hit “decision-making centers” in Kiev in retaliation for Ukraine’s shelling of Russian territory. Kiev denies launching such attacks on Russian soil.

The intensification of Russia’s attacks also comes after the cruiser Moskva, the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, sank after a fire broke out on board and spread to ammunition stores. Ukraine claims to have hit the vessel with an anti-ship missile.

Police clash with ‘Neither Macron, nor Le Pen’ protesters (VIDEOS)

About 10,000 people gathered for a political demonstration in central Paris

Kekkity the French are funny people

French police used tear gas during a brief clash with demonstrators in Paris who had taken to the streets to oppose both remaining candidates for the presidency: incumbent Emmanuel Macron and the National Rally’s Marine Le Pen.

Ahead of the second round of the election, which is scheduled for April 24, thousands of people took part in anti-fascist and anti-racist demonstrations in dozens of cities around the country, with the largest one unsurprisingly taking place in the capital. The main goal of the demonstrators was to show their opposition to Le Pen, who leftists consider a far-right politician. However, many of Le Pen’s opponents apparently do not relish the prospect of another term for Macron. In fact, one of the most popular slogans of the march was “Ni Macron, ni Le Pen” (“Neither Macron nor Le Pen”).

Though more than 30 organizations and unions took part in the demonstration, it gathered fewer than 10,000 people, according to figures provided by the Paris prefecture. This is a far cry from the size of the anti-Le Pen crowds that assembled between the two rounds of the previous presidential election in 2017.

At about 5 pm at the Place de la Republique square, law enforcement responded to protesters who were throwing projectiles and burning bicycles and waste by briefly dispersing tear gas. Soon after the incident the march resumed.

Le Pen, speaking to reporters in southern France, commented on the demonstrations against her, saying that “protesting against election results is deeply undemocratic.”

“I say to all these people just go and vote. It's as simple as that,” she said.

The ‘Neither Macron nor Le Pen’ protest was one of at least six demonstrations that took place in Paris on Saturday. There was also a separate demonstration against Macron’s policies, a march in support of Ukraine and two Yellow Vest protests: one against obligatory Covid-19 vaccinations and another one for “social, financial and climate justice.”

The presidency will be decided by a runoff between incumbent President Emmanuel Macron and Le Pen, who in the first round garnered a respective 27.6% and 23.41% of the vote. Polls have so far been pointing to Macron as the likely winner when the two go head to head on April 24.

Germany sees no risks in arms supplies to Ukraine

WTF

Kiev has a legitimate right to self-defense and aiding it cannot make another nation a party to war, Berlin insists

Germany faces no risks under international law when it supplies arms to Ukraine amid Russia’s military operation, German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann told Die Welt on Saturday.

Ukraine is fighting a “defensive war,” the minister claimed, adding that it has a right to fight back under the UN Charter. This fact, according to Buschmann, allows other nations to send it weapons without fear of being seen as a party to the conflict.

“When it [Ukraine] exercises its legitimate right for self-defense, supporting with arms deliveries cannot lead [a nation] to becoming a party to war,” Buschmann said, adding that it is not just his personal opinion but “that of the federal government.”

Western nations have been supplying Kiev with arms since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine in late February. The deliveries have mostly consisted of small arms, portable anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as munitions and fuel. However, some nations are sending heavier arms as well. In particular, Slovakia confirmed donating its own S-300 air defense system to Kiev.

Ukraine has repeatedly demanded that its Western partners provide heavy equipment such as tanks and aircraft. Prague has reportedly delivered some tanks to Ukraine, although Czech officials have not officially confirmed that. The German defense company Rheinmetall also mulled sending old German Leopard 1 tanks to Kiev, but German Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Robert Habeck later said they would not be combat-ready for quite some time and could require months to be made usable.

Russia has repeatedly warned NATO against sending arms to Ukraine and stated that it would consider arms convoys to be legitimate targets. Earlier this week, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov warned that Russian forces would specifically view “American-NATO transports carrying weapons across Ukrainian territory” as such.

OK, I’ve been looking at “Our Journey Together”, just received it today, and laughed when I first saw this.

The picture of POTUS and Pence has Pence split between two pages, by the binding of the book.

Look at POTUS’s face, he’s not happy.

I can only think of two reasons why POTUS would do this (never seen this in a book in my life)

  1. Pence has dual loyalties

  2. Pence has a split personality

More likely dual loyalties

Pretty bold that POTUS is showing his dissatisfaction in the book. Maybe others thought if was a mistake of the binder, but POTUS doesnt make visual mistakes in marketing.

What say anons?

>>16084496 Elon Musk Considers Bringing in Partners on Twitter Bid After Company Adopts ‘Poison Pill’

Posted this am-

I have posting for two weeks Elon had private billionaire partners working with, and I know they gamed this whole thing out for months.

They thought of every possible scenario and how the twitter board react.

They also knew how intelligence agencies and US gov were backing the technology and giving orders to kill free speech. After all Tesla is tight with them.

They knew every possible move including blacktock and vanguard, along with every media company attacking.

Remember Elon started buying Twitter stock in January (and is being sued for not discussing it), he was already up to 5% before he bought the additional 4.5%.

They knew the board would try to make him a board member, to prevent a major shareholder making changes in the sysyem, and limited him max 15% purchases. Because he would not be able implement free speech.

They knew when Elon said “should I buy twitter” he was going to be a problem.

What they didn’t consider Elon knows as much or more about technology, government, intelligence community and probably used a quantum computer to game this out, lets say, with Peter Thiel and the other partners.

Now look what Mark Cuban said when Elon announced his buy of twitter (billionaires hears stuff other billionaire are up to).

Also the persona on twitter DJT46 said shortly after Jan 2021,

“I’m thinking about buying twittet”,

I cant find it right now, but I took a pic of it, and will post.

Now the question is how many partners can they have. DJT may not be able to be involved in the buy, but who knows what kind of plans for the Truth Social is being considered?

Stretch I know, but anything is plausible until it’s not.
