Three-year-old Baltimore's girl death's is described as possible 'ritualistic killing'
BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Sources close to the investigation into the murder of a three-year-old Baltimore girl said her death may have been a "ritualistic killing."
The sources said a bible and other materials were found near the child's body. Police said My'Royal Bennett was killed Friday after a mattress fire inside a home in the 4700 block of Vancouver Road.
Days later, a construction worker walking along Interstate 95 near the border between Harford and Cecil counties found the body of Bennett's mother, 30-year-old Danielle Shanae Parnell. Police have ruled both deaths homicides, but have not said whether the two are connected.
On social media, Parnell posted often about astrology, tarot cards and new age mysticism. On TikTok and Facebook, she went by the nickname "Sudy Q Da Thug Goddess Witch"
"May every evil eye in your life go blind," a photo on her Facebook page reads. "No evil energy formed against me shall prosper. Every bad thing you thought about me will be rejected right back to you and you shall feel every bit of it."
One friend commented on her Facebook page: "Very beautiful and eccentric … love your vibe, sista."
Parnell has an older daughter as well, but the girl was not living with Parnell at the time of her death.
London Hall, who lives across the street in Southwest Baltimore's Beechfield section, said she's still reeling over the child's murder.
"I cried because I thought about my own children and stuff, and to have something like that happen," Hall said.
Hall is alarmed by what she's hearing.
"It makes you wonder what type of world you are living in. It's like spiritual, we're in a spiritual warfare," Hall said.
Police have not released any information about a suspect or a motive in the deaths of Bennett and Parnell. Police have not said how Parnell died.
But for Hall, to hear what's being considered is unspeakable.
"I'm spiritual, but nothing would make me snap that far. I guess like mental health would have to be involved in it. Something that makes someone snap and hurt their children where they would take their life," Hall said.
