What specifically was Sessions recused from?

Here is his statement. Note that RR is not listed as the person that will be in charge, but instead its Boente.

Boente then left to go to work for Wray, and is replaced by Tracy McCormick. In no place is RR mentioned as someone to replace Sessions on anything he is recused from.

Specifically he is recused from

Having concluded those meetings today, I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.

He is not recused from investigating Clinton Corruption, State Departement Corruption or anything else.

It also looks like RR is not the one investigating things that happened during campaigns.

But it hasn't been. That is another interesting point.

March 2, 2017 recusal.

April RR gets job

December Boente Leaves and Tracy takes over his job while he joins WRAY at FBI as General counsel.

RR is not part of it. Tracy seems to still be acting for that role.
