That happens because we have been taught that emotions triumph over logic. Feelings matter more than thought. People then react emotionally, 'invoke a diety or 'lady luck', accomplish nothing or else 'get lucky', and do not resolve the issue with logic. It is how we have been programmed.

Only if the wealthy have income - at least in the US. We pay income taxes, not 'how much wealth' taxes.
