Nuclear conflict is ‘unthinkable’ – UN(but they are willingly pushing for it)

A top UN official has dismissed the idea that the Ukrainian conflict might spiral into a nuclear war

The prospects of a nuclear conflict breaking out are "unthinkable," Stephane Dujarric, Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said during a media briefing on Tuesday.

A reporter had asked the official whether the UN had been making “any preparations” in the wake of alleged “threats” to use chemical and nuclear weapons amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The reporter did not elaborate who exactly had purportedly voiced the "threats." Dujarric, however, firmly brushed off prospects of the situation deteriorating into a nuclear war.

“I have nothing to share with you on that. The mere thought of a nuclear conflict is unthinkable. It goes without saying that use of any kind of chemical or biological weapons would be atrocious and would go against international law,” Dujarric stated.

The topic of nuclear weapons use was brought up by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with CNN on Friday. Zelensky alleged that Russia may use tactical nukes against his country, without providing any proof to back up the bold claim.

"Not only me – all of the world, all of the countries have to be worried because it can be not real information, but it can be truth," he said.

Zelensky's claims have been rubbished by top Russian officials, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov firmly rejecting the idea that Moscow could resort to the use of tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

“I cannot comment [on] something, which a not very adequate person pronounces,” Lavrov told India Today in an extensive interview on Tuesday. The top diplomat pointed out that Zelensky was the only one to speak about use of nuclear weapons, while Moscow had never mentioned the use of nuclear weapons as an option during its military operation.

Ukrainians escape ‘slave conditions’ on UK farms – media

Seasonal workers arrive on seasonal visas, only to find themselves ‘hostage’ to their new country

this is freakin funny, sort of

Hundreds of Ukrainians in the UK on seasonal visas have ended up working on farms they describe as “akin to modern-day slavery,” the Guardian, which spoke to multiple people who had escaped from such farms, reported on Tuesday.

A Ukrainian worker who escaped one of the farms described feeling like a “hostage in the UK,” unable to go home because of the war but forced to do menial labor for a living despite having two university degrees. She and her boyfriend had worked on a cherry farm where laborers were not even allowed gloves, causing extreme damage to their hands and skin.

“Nobody cares what happens to seasonal workers. I thought our rights would be well protected in the UK but this has not happened. Working on the farm is probably one of the worst experiences and the worst treatment of my life,” the woman said, adding that the farm management set “unachievable targets” and when workers tried to protest, suspended them for a week.

“I will never go to work on any of the farms again – there are no happy stories,” she continued. “Everyone runs away.” She said all but 38 of the workers at the cherry farm where she and her boyfriend toiled had fled as well and most were trying their luck in the underground economy of the cities.

Ukrainians are the primary recipients of T5 seasonal work visas in the UK, with two thirds (19,920) of the 29,631 visas of this type going to temporary workers from that country. Should they leave the farms where they say they are being abused, however, their options are limited – under-the-table employment, since they no longer have a legal visa to get an on-the-books job, or going home, where war is currently raging.

This is not the first time UK farms have been called out for mistreating their workers. A review by the Home Office and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs published last year revealed that migrant workers who had come to the UK to harvest fruit and vegetables were subject to “unacceptable” welfare conditions like a lack of safety equipment, kitchens, toilets, or even running water.

However, given the focus on Ukraine across Europe, some of those migrant workers may be getting a chance to switch to a different type of visa, which would allow them to stay in the UK longer and work legally. The UK plans to accept applications for a so-called Ukraine extension scheme starting in May under which those with seasonal work visas who have escaped farms can potentially stay three more years, since seasonal workers don’t fall under the two existing classes of government programs for Ukrainian refugees.

A government spokesperson insisted that “under no circumstances should any seasonal workers be forced to work in exploitive conditions” and “strongly advise[d] any people in these circumstances to report issues to the police so steps can be taken for their safeguarding and well-being.” Given the horrific conditions described at the farms, however, it’s unclear how the workers – new arrivals in a strange country – would be able to reach the police.

(OMG are Ukrainians that elitist, I doubt it, Russia is using bait)

US struggling to track arms shipments to Ukraine – media

Intelligence sources told CNN thatAmerican weaponry sent to Ukraine is disappearing into a “black hole”

(Now I believe this, Afghanistan comes to mind)

The US government is scrambling to trace large quantities of “lethal aid” transferred to Ukraine’s armed forces in recent months, officials told CNN, noting that intelligence agencies have “almost zero” ability to follow the shipments to their final end-users.

Though weapons shipped to Ukraine account for the “largest recent supply to a partner country in a conflict,” the White House is increasingly concerned the aid “may wind up in the hands of other militaries and militias that the US did not intend to arm,” a senior defense official told CNN on Tuesday.

“We have fidelity for a short time, but when it enters the fog of war, we have almost zero,” said another source briefed on US intelligence, adding that the weapons fall “into a big black hole, and you have almost no sense of it at all after a short period of time.”

Despite that “blind spot” – which the outlet suggested is “due in large part to the lack of US boots on the ground” in Ukraine and the portability of many of the weapons provided – the Biden administration has “factored in the risk” that some American arms will go to “unexpected places,” another Pentagon official said.

Western estimates for Ukrainian casualties and other battlefield details also remain “foggy,” two intelligence sources added, meaning the United States and its NATO allies are often forced to depend on information from the government in Kiev, which they said is not always reliable.

“It's a war – everything [Ukrainian officials] do and say publicly is designed to help them win the war. Every public statement is an information operation, every interview, every Zelensky appearance broadcast is an information operation,” said another source familiar with Western intelligence, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Since Russia launched its attack on Ukraine in late February, Washington has provided more than $2.6 billion in military aid to Kiev and several billion more in humanitarian assistance, while President Joe Biden has sent a total of $3.2 billion since taking office in 2020. More than 100,000 American soldiers have also been redeployed to bolster NATO’s “eastern flank,” while individual members of the military bloc have also offered billions in aid themselves.

As of Tuesday, the White House is reportedly mulling yet another major lethal aid package for Ukraine in preparation for a Russian assault on the territory claimed by the Donbass republics, after authorizing $800 million in heavy artillery, drones, armored vehicles, military helicopters and other gear just last week. The Pentagon has declined to detail what the next weapons transfer will include, however.

Ex-MSNBC analyst quits to fight against Russians

National security commentator Malcolm Nance joins international legion of military volunteers in Ukraine

Malcolm Nance, a former MSNBC analystwho frequently claims his political adversaries are either Kremlin collaborators or white supremacists, has left the network to join the foreign volunteers fighting against Russian forces in Ukraine.

“The more I saw of the war going on, the more I thought, I’m done talking,” Nance said on Monday night, in an interview with former MSNBC colleague Joy Reid. “It’s time to take action here. So, about a month ago, I joined the international legion here in Ukraine, and I am here to help this country fight, you know, what essentially is a war of extermination.”

The 61-year-old author and US Navy veteran was billed as a national security analyst during his years working as a commentator for MSNBC. Nance, who worked in counterintelligence and cryptology during his 20-year navy career and later founded an intelligence consulting firm, said he spent “quite a bit of time” in Ukraine during the runup to Russia’s military offensive against Kiev. He added that he had friends in the Ukrainian army who sent messages from Donetsk saying they weren’t going to survive after Moscow’s offensive began.

This is an existential war, and Russia has brought it to these people, and they are mass murdering civilians,” Nance said. “And there are people here like me who are here to do something about it.”

_\Nance has authored books accusing Russia of plotting to “destroy democracy” and getting Donald Trump elected president to “betray America. “During the 2016 campaign, he falsely accused Green Party candidate Jill Stein – then a threat to siphon left-wing votes away from Hillary Clinton – of having hosted a program on RT. __He tarred journalist Glenn Greenwald as an “agent of Moscow” who was “deep in the Kremlin pocket.”

On Monday, he accused Russian forces of using heavy weapons to massacre civilians in Ukraine. “That is the fundamental reason everyone is here,” Nance said. “The international legion is a multinational force. It is men and women. There are thousands who are here to protect this country.”

Both Reid and Nance are black. The MSNBC host asked her former colleague whether he was in “any special danger” because “you clearly are not Ukrainian when they see you.” Nance replied that the war is being waged against everybody, and Ukrainians appreciate that the foreign volunteers are fighting side-by-side with them, regardless of their ethnicity. Neither Reid nor Nance mentioned Ukraine’s neo-Nazi militias.

Nance has frequently made race a focus of his commentaries, such as when he called last year’s US Capitol riot the “ultimate white privilege.” He accused Trump of seeing America as a country where the “white tribe dominates all other tribes,” and he likened Trump supporters to ISIS members. When teenager Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted of homicide charges last November after shooting three rioters who were attacking him, Nance said white nationalists were “high-fiving” and would be inspired by the case to massacre Black Lives Matter and Antifa activists.

Although Nance appeared as a news commentator on MSNBC, he also openly lobbied for voters to support Democrats. During last year’s US withdrawal from Afghanistan, Nance dismissed critics of the Biden administration’s evacuation efforts as “naysayers.” When 13 US service members were killed in a bombing at the Kabul airport, spurring criticism of President Joe Biden, Nance said such terrorist attacks were commonplace in Afghanistan. “This ain’t new,” he said on Twitter. “It’s why we are leaving. #DealWithIt.”

(This is the funniest article I’ve read on RT thus far)

Hahahahahahahahahaha Nance is a joke around the world!

You might be right, but what if, his contract was being terminated and

he said, “i’ll go to ukraine to save my job”

Management said, “well, theres no way to save your job, you’ll have to die there, its the only way it makes sense!”.

Nance: “wait, wait, I have to die there? That seems harsh for a contract dispute?”

Management: “Don’t be stupid Nance, we would never kill you. If you want the $2 million payout, you have to disappear, then we can report you’re died in battle” (but when you come back you gave to look Ukrainian!”

Nance: “Done, I can do that”
