Our family was cohencidentally in downtown LA the morning the OJ verdict was read. Farrakhannies in bowties and suits lined the street corners. Visually appealing, menacing and abhorrent all at the same time- having just come out of the precursor rodney king situation. We had an appointment on I think the tenth floor, to look into whether or not we could build a family “compound” in one of the canyons out there. Ominous and creepy feeling that day hearing the cheering rise up from the packed streets. Same way I felt that first September day. Portals in time.
