This is totally normal. The BBC reporting on people getting implanted with microchips in their arms in order to buy things.

The article reads like an advert for the company Walletmor, which is offering to put the chips literally in people’s hands for just $300.

“The implant can be used to pay for a drink on the beach in Rio, a coffee in New York, a haircut in Paris – or at your local grocery store,” says founder and chief executive Wojtek Paprota.

“It can be used wherever contactless payments are accepted.”

A military judge found Air Force Maj. Gen. William Cooley guilty of one charge of abusive sexual contact on the sixth day of an historic court-martial at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Air Force Judge Col. Christina Jimenez deliberated for some five hours Friday before recessing for the day. The verdict was pronounced as soon as court opened Saturday morning.

The charge had three specifications involving how the two-star general was reported to have touched the complainant in the case — forcing his tongue in her mouth, forcing her hand to his genitals and pushing his hand between her legs and cupping her breast, according to an Air Force charge sheet.

The judge found Cooley guilty of the first specification and not guilty of the latter two.

A former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Cooley was charged with abusive sexual contact in an encounter with his sister-in-law inside a Jeep when she gave him a ride after a family backyard barbecue in a New Mexico off-duty incident nearly four years ago.

The victim in the case, the wife of Cooley’s brother, is a civilian woman who is not a Department of Defense employee. Cooley’s brother works for the Air Force in New Mexico as a civilian employee.

Cooley had faced loss of rank, pay and benefits and up to 21 months of confinement. And he may have to register as a sexual offender.

Now after Saturday’s verdict, in terms of confinement, the maximum possible sentence is seven years per charge. An Air Force spokeswoman said Saturday that Cooley does not face loss of rank. It was not immediately clear Saturday what impact the conviction will have on Cooley’s career.

This is the first time a court-martial of an Air Force general reached trial.

“Today marks the first time an Air Force general officer has been held responsible for his heinous actions,” the victim in the case said in a statement from her personal attorney, Ryan Guilds.

“Sometimes family members are the abusers, abusers who count on silence in order to wield their extensive power.”

Cooley’s sister-in-law cited Vanessa Guillén, an Army soldier who was murdered by a fellow soldier in 2020 while she was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, as an inspiration for her to pursue the charges.

“Hopefully,” Guilds said, continuing with his client’s statement, “this will not be as difficult for the next survivor.”

Speaking for himself, Guilds said: “At the end of the day, he (Cooley) was found guilty.”

“If that can be achieved for her, it can be achieved for others. That doesn’t mean it’s easy,” he added.

Cooley has worked as an assistant to Gen. Arnold Bunch, the commander of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), in an AFMC administrative job since an Air Force investigation into the charges against him in late 2019 and early 2020. His brother and sister-in-law brought the matter to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations in December 2019. Bunch fired Cooley from his AFRL job in January 2020.

No jury was empaneled in the trial, which started April 18. A sentencing phase starts Monday morning at the base.

“Whatever the sentence is, it doesn’t erase what happens,” Guilds said.

Censor The Internet Act: EU Agrees to Expand Online Censorship With 'Digital Services Act'

The European Union is working to massively expand online censorship, strictly regulate speech during times of "crisis" and restrict online anonymity through digital passports.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both lobbied for the EU to back the censorship bill on Thursday:

From France 24, "EU agrees on new legislation to tame internet 'Wild West' ":

The Digital Services Act (DSA) the second part of a massive project to regulate tech companies aims to ensure tougher consequences for platforms and websites that host a long list of banned content ranging from hate speech to disinformation and child sexual abuse images.

[…] Tech giants have been repeatedly called out for failing to police their platforms – a New Zealand terrorist attack that was live-streamed on Facebook in 2019 caused global outrage, and the chaotic insurrection in the US last year was promoted online.

The dark side of the internet also includes e-commerce platforms filled with counterfeit or defective products.

[…] The regulation will require platforms to swiftly remove illegal content as soon as they are aware of its existence. Social networks would have to suspend users who frequently breach the law.

The DSA will force e-commerce sites to verify the identity of suppliers before proposing their products.

[…] The European Commission will oversee yearly audits [of Big Tech firms] and be able to impose fines of up to six percent of their annual sales for repeated infringements.

Looking over the outline of the new agreement it's striking how they seamlessly conflate child sexual abuse material with "illegal hate speech."

Both are jumbled together as "illegal content."

Wisconsin Dem Rakes in Money From Corporate-Funded PACs While Raging Against Corporate Money

Wisconsin Democratic Senate candidate Mandela Barnes this year has raked in thousands from corporation-funded political action committees, according to election finance records, even though he pledged to forgo campaign donations from registered corporate PACs.

Barnes, the state's lieutenant governor, said on April 12 that he hasn't taken "one dime in Corporate PAC $$." But he has accepted at least $15,000 in donations from leadership PACs funded by the Boeing Company PAC, Pfizer Inc. PAC, the Lockheed Martin Corporation Employees' PAC, and other corporate-connected committees—a campaign finance loophole that allows him to benefit from industry cash while still claiming to reject it.

In the first three months of 2022, Barnes accepted donations from at least five leadership PACs that receive corporate funding, including the Nutmeg PAC, the BRIDGE PAC, and the Congressional Black Caucus. During the same time, these groups took in money from corporate PACs linked to Raytheon, Novo Nordisk, Exxon Mobil, and Capital One, among others.

The donations could detract from a key pledge of Barnes's candidacy, as he seeks to portray his campaign as "roots"-driven and contrast himself with Republican senator Ron Johnson, who Barnes claims is beholden to corporate interests. The funding came after Barnes was reported to have taken corporate PAC money during his previous campaigns for state office, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Registered "corporate PACs" are entities connected to a business that are only allowed to raise money from company employees and stockholders. But leadership PACs—which are connected to individual politicians—often accept money from these groups and steer it to other candidates, including ones who have promised to eschew corporate money.

Barnes first announced during his campaign launch last July that he was "not taking donations from corporate PACs," and he has continued to tout this promise as a contrast with Johnson.

"This campaign is [grass]roots," said Barnes on Twitter last month. "We're going to prove you can't buy a Senate seat and that you don't need corporate PAC money to win."

Barnes raised $1.7 million in the first quarter of 2022, lagging behind his two main primary opponents, hedge fund heir Alex Lasry and Wisconsin treasurer Sarah Godlewski, according to Federal Election Commission records. Lasry, who raised $3.9 million, and Godlewski, who raised $2.1 million, both poured a significant amount of their own money into their campaigns. Republican incumbent Johnson raised $5.9 million.

Barnes's weak fundraising numbers suggest he has struggled to bring in donations, even as polling has shown him with an early lead in the Democratic primary.

Democrats are fighting to oust Johnson in what is expected to be one of the most hotly contested Senate races of this year's midterms.

Mass protest in front of London Israel embassy

A large number of people on Friday staged a mass protest in front of the Israeli Embassy in London, condemning the continuous Israeli aggression on Palestinian worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The protesters also called for an immediate end to Israeli occupation forces and settler attacks on Palestinian residents of the holy city and worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Forum in Britain, the Muslim League in Britain and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign jointly organised the event.

The protesters called for Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories and stop settler raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Meanwhile, the protesters called for the UK government to stop selling weapons to the Israeli occupation.

A number of Neturei Karta members, a Jewish organisation that opposes the Israeli occupation of Palestine, raised placards calling for freedom for the Palestinians and the liberation of Palestine.

"We are here to confirm sending a message of solidarity with our brothers in Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the besieged Gaza Strip to the Israeli occupation," said Zaher Birawi of the Palestinian Forum in Britain. "We tell you that you are not alone."

Birawi also expressed: "We are sending our thanks and support for the Palestinians who defend the Arab and Islamic nations in addition to Al-Aqsa Mosque – the third holiest place for all Muslims on earth."

He called on Israel to stop its attempts to impose special and temporal partitioning of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and he stressed that Israel must maintain the status quo in the holy city of Jerusalem.

Thirteen victims of infamous Team USA physician Larry Nassar are suing the Federal Bureau of Investigation for $10 million a piece for allegedly looking the other way while the fiend was abusing his power to victimize children.

Attorney Jamie White, who is representing the victims, called the FBI’s mismanagement of the Nassar probe “a law enforcement failure of historic proportions.” FBI agents are accused of looking the other way for years as victims came forth about Nassar’s abuse, allowing the monster to prey upon more children.

Union Boss Randi Weingarten: Parental Rights Bills Are the ‘Way in Which Wars Start’

Randi Weingarten, union boss of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), said that parental rights bills such as the one recently signed into law in Florida are “the way in which wars start.”

“This notion – we’ve been very lucky in America, and we in some ways live in a bubble for a long time,” the president of the nation’s largest teachers’ union said on the April 14 episode of the Rick Smith Show — a left-wing, pro-union talk show. “This is propaganda. This is misinformation. This is the way in which wars start. This is the way in which hatred starts.”

AFT has been a consistent opponent of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and parental rights bills across the country. It was also instrumental in keeping schools shuttered and mask mandates in place throughout the coronavirus pandemic, leaving children with significant physical, social, and mental issues.

Florida and other states have passed laws that give parents greater access to school curriculums and information regarding their children as well as more streamlined avenues to request information from schools.

In what appears to be an attempt at saving face for having an anti-parent position, Weingarten told Fox News, “Educators welcome parent involvement in schools because our kids do best when teachers, parents and caregivers work together.”

She then went on to call the parents’ movement that has found electoral success across the country “vocal minorities,” attempting to delegitimize parental concern with school curriculums and policies.

“We have a lot to do to help kids recover and thrive this year after two years of an unprecedented pandemic,” Weingarten continued. “So rather than help us help our kids socially, academically and emotionally, these vocal minorities want to marginalize LGBTQ kids, censor teachers and ban books.”

It is unclear to which books she is referring, but the most prominent books conservatives seek to remove from schools are Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison and Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe, which prominently feature depictions of pornography and pedophilia.

Russia says it destroyed weapons delivered by US and EU to Ukraine

Ukraine claims that residential buildings were also hit, cites civilian casualties

Russian forces have destroyed a logistics terminal in Odessa that held a large batch of foreign weapons, Moscow said on Saturday amid its ongoing military offensive in Ukraine. However, the city’s authorities claimed that its air defense group destroyed two missiles but that another four hit a military target and residential buildings, leading to victims. It was not immediately clear if the civilian buildings were hit as a result of attempts by Ukrainian forces to strike down the missiles initially aimed at a military target.

According to Russian military spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov, in the afternoon, “high-precision long-range air-launched missiles” hit a logistics terminal located on a military airfield near Odessa, where “a large batch of foreign weapons received from the United States and European countries was stored.”

Russia has repeatedly warned NATO against sending arms to Ukraine and stated that it would consider arms convoys to be legitimate military targets.

Odessa regional emergency services earlier said that “as a result of an enemy shelling,” a sixteen-story residential building caught fire, which was put out in about two and a half hours.

“At this point it is known that 6 people died, including one child, and 18 people were injured. Two people were rescued from the rubble, 86 people were evacuated,” the authorities said in a statement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking later at a press conference in Kiev, elaborated on these claims.

“At this very moment eight people have died. Eighteen or twenty have been injured. A three-month old child died. A three-month old child was killed. When the war started, this child was just one month old. Can you imagine this?” Zelensky said.

According to the press office of Ukraine's South Air Command, on Saturday the air defense group destroyed two cruise missiles, allegedly launched by Russian TU-95 strategic aircraft from the Caspian Sea, and two operational-tactical level UAVs, which “presumably corrected the flight of cruise missiles and placed active obstacles to air defenses.”

“Unfortunately, 2 missiles hit a military facility and 2 {hit} residential buildings,” the Ukrainian military claimed.

Since the launch of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine, Moscow and Kiev have accused each other of committing war crimes, targeting civilians, hampering evacuations and violating international law. Several rounds of peace negotiations have not yielded any significant results.

Russia attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German and French brokered protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.
