West Virginia to send armored vehicles to Ukraine

The donation comes in response to a request from the Department of Defense

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced that the West Virginia National Guard will send armored vehicles for Ukraine to use against invading Russian forces.

The donation of an undisclosed number of M-113 Armored Personnel Carriers comes in response to a request from the Department of Defense to send inventory to support Ukraine, according to a West Virginia press release. The APCs will be used to move troops and equipment across Ukriaine while providing protection from artillery and small arms fire.

"By joining with other states in sending numerous of these armored vehicles to Ukraine, we hope and pray that this will give Ukrainian forces a major leg up in their defense of their home country," Gov. Justice said.

He went on to condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine.

"In West Virginia, we will always stand up for what’s right, which is why we stand united with Ukraine and will continue to help in every way possible, especially as we continue to learn about the war crimes and other atrocities that continue to occur in this unprovoked and intolerable attack on a nation and its people," he said.

This is not the first time West Virginia has volunteered to help Ukraine. Last month, Gov. Justice asked for unused or recently expired ballistic vests to be collected from West Virginia law enforcement agencies and sent to Ukraine.

He also pledged $5 million to help a bombed Ukrainian maternity and children’s hospital.

Right after Putin invaded Ukraine in February, Gov. Justice issued an executive order banning the purchase and sale of all Russian-produced liquor, while making Ukrainian-produced liquor available to purchase.

"With Putin choosing to continue his deadly assault on Ukraine, he has shown us what he truly is: a monster and a madman," Justice noted.

"He’s blown up maternity hospitals, innocent people are being killed every day. Despite all the sanctions placed on Russia from across the globe, Putin continues his unyielding path of destruction, tearing apart family after family," the governor said. "As I’ve said several times, if he’s not going to stop on his own, we need to make him stop. We can’t be afraid to act. We are America. We need to do something about it."

More Than 20 States Have Joined Lawsuit Over Biden’s Mishandling Of Southern Border

Republican attorneys general are only asking Biden to follow the law and allow for a period of public comment before unilaterally unleashing migrant caravans on the United States.

The Biden administration has been contradicting itself lately. On one hand, they claim that they must fight in the courts to uphold the mask mandate on airlines and public transportation, but on the other, they argue it is time to do away with Title 42 restrictions on the southern border.

The Biden administration appears to have violated the law by unilaterally announcing this policy shift without allowing for a period of public comment as required by the federal Administrative Procedure Act.

Earlier this month, Arizona Louisiana, and Missouri filed the lawsuit against Biden’s decision to end Title 42 on May 23. The decision, which was made by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention comes at a time when the CDC is attempting to maintain restrictions on the American public.

It is widely accepted by both Democrats and Republicans that a sharp increase in both legal and illegal immigration will follow the rescinding of the policy.

According to WBOY, administration officials expect the end of Title 42 to increase illegal monthly border crossings to 540,000.

States are seeking a temporary restraining order due to the Biden administration’s violation of the Federal Procedure Act and have requested that the court order the Department of Homeland Security make an expedited report as to the nature of their enforcement on the border and concerning any changes that may have begun in preparation for the end of Title 42.

The following states have, so far, joined the lawsuit:

Arizona, Louisiana, Missouri, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

The law enforcement opened fire on a vehicle after the passengers "refused to comply"

Two people were killed in Paris amid election protests on Sunday evening after police fired at a vehicle, following a 'refusal to comply', AFP news agency has reported. A vehicle reportedly tried to clash onto the police officers at Pont Neuf and one of them fired his weapon.

The driver and his front passenger died, a person who was sitting in the back was injured.

The driver reportedly stopped at the request of the patrol, but then, during the check, he suddenly pressed the gas and drove towards the police. According to the media, one of the law enforcement officers was forced to shoot several times with a rifle in self-defense.

The incident occurred during protests in multiple French cities, including Paris, that followed the the second round of the presidential elections in France. A few hours earlier, supporters of French President Emmanuel Macron held a rally in Paris on the Champ de Mars, where he delivered an appeal.

According to the Interior Ministry, centrist Macron won 58,55% of the vote, while right-wing National Rally’s Marine Le Pen scored 41,45%.
