Japan to Jordan, Israel to Kenya: 43 NATO allies, partners to attend Ukraine war summit

Finland, Sweden and Ukraine are members of NATO’s Partnership for Peace program and are NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partners, as are Australia and Jordan. Israel, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia are members of NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue. Qatar is a member of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative. Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea were NATO Contact Countries before being inducted into Partners Across the Globe in 2012. Colombia is the latest nation to join the last-named program. Countries like Brazil and Senegal are being groomed for it, as evidently are Kenya and Liberia.

Over 40 nations were invited to attend, according to a list reviewed by Breaking Defense. For some, like Finland and Sweden, Ukraine’s fate is intertwined with their own, but for others from Africa, the US could be sending a signal all the way to Beijing.

The invite list for a high-level military meeting around Ukraine, hosted Tuesday in Germany by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, includes 14 non-NATO nations ranging from Japan to Kenya to Israel, according to planning documents viewed by Breaking Defense.

All told, 43 countries, including all NATO members, were invited to the meeting at Ramstein Air Force Base, where the US will make a push for how allies and partners can come together to best support Ukraine’s ongoing defense against Russia.

The non-NATO countries who were invited to Tuesday’s meeting come from around the globe:

Key Pacific partners: Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand

Antisemitic incidents in US spiked to record high in 2021, ADL reports

The number of antisemitic incidents recorded by the Anti-Defamation League in the United States reached an all-time high in 2021, according to a new report by the group.

The 2,717 incidents identified in news articles by the ADL or reported to the ADL directly in 2021 represent a 34% increase from the 2,024 incidents of antisemitism tallied by the group in 2020. Previously, the 2,107 incidents in 2019 were the highest total since the ADL began publishing annual counts in 1979.

Anything from a slur to a terror attack can be included in the tally. For the second straight year, 2021 saw no fatal incidents tied to antisemitism in the United States, but the ADL counted 88 antisemitic assaults, a 167% increase from the 33 assaults in the 2020 count.

The group cited several reasons for the high numbers — including what the ADL said was “improved reporting” because of partnerships with multiple Jewish organizations.

The partnerships — with several Jewish organizations including the Community Security Initiative, Community Security Service, Hillel International, Secure Community Network, Union of Reform Judaism and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism — were responsible for identifying 494 incidents, or 18% of the total.

Australia Post worker suspended after dumping postal vote applications

Worker caught binning 500 postal vote applications in a wheelie bin before offering woman a $10 bribe in Queensland

There is less than a month remaining until the Federal Election on May 22 and already news has surfaced of attempted vote tampering in the Brisbane electorate of Blair – a marginal seat currently occupied by Labor’s Shayne Neumann.

A worker at Australia Post was caught on a woman’s security camera throwing out piles of Coalition postal vote applications into a residential bin. The employee, who has been suspended, dumped the postal votes and then offered her a bribe after being confronted.

The Australian Electoral Commission downplayed the incident, insisting that it ‘has no effect on the operation of the election whatsoever and that voters can access in-person voting’.

What it did have an effect on was voter confidence in the postal vote process.

Paul Graham, the CEO and Managing Director of Australia Post, confirmed that his company was working with the Queensland Police to resolve the issue. “All our team members have been fully trained in the right procedures for handling mail at election time. The person involved has been suspended effective immediately pending the outcome of the investigation and we are working with the LNP to deliver these mail items as a priority.”

He added that Australia Post took full responsibility for the issue and had apologised unreservedly. Australia Post has been trying to repair its image after the Cartier watch incident.

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable and we will continue to reinforce with our team the important role that we play during elections and adherence to our procedures and service commitment.”

It remains concerning that any material related to voting in the election could be so easily lost without the issuing political party or the AEC knowing about it.

Annette Weller from Brisbane said that the Australia Post worker offered her a $10 bribe to look the other way after she caught him out, which she declined.

“Did you empty all those postal things [votes ] in there, in our bin?” asked Ms Weller. “Well, we’ve got you on footage – on footage. You are on camera, mate. We got cameras everywhere.”

Initially, the Australia Post worker denied dumping postal votes and drove off on his bike.

The Australia Post worker returned later to the residence on his bike for a second time. As he pulled up, Ms Weller asked, “What do you want?” After which she tells him that the Senator [Liberal Senator Paul Scarr] is coming to pick up the postal votes.

It is at this point that the man opens his wallet and attempts to bribe her with a $10 note.

“No, don’t give me nothing mate. Don’t bribe me!”

Between 1935 and 1963, the Soviet Union knew all of Britain’s military and scientific secrets thanks to “The Cambridge Five” a spy ring that operated in M1-5, MI-6 and the Foreign Office. Western intelligence agencies were rendered ineffective and Allied secrets, including the design of the atomic bomb, were stolen.

The traitors were Kim Philby, Donald Maclean, Guy Burgess and Anthony Blunt. But there is a natural reluctance to admit that “the Fifth Man” was Nathaniel Meyer Victor Rothschild (1910-1990), the Third Baron Rothschild, the British head of the world’s richest banking dynasty, which controls the Bank of England. In 1993, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, six retired KGB Colonels in Moscow confirmed Rothschild’s identity to Roland Perry. Col. Yuri Modin, the spy ring’s handler, went on the record.

Rothschild helped neutralize enemies of the Soviet Union who came to the British for support. For example, he was involved in the cover-up of the assassination of Polish war leader and British ally Wladyslaw Sikorski, whose plane was blown up in July 1944. Victor Rothschild held many jobs that served to disguise his true role which I suspect was that of a member of the Illuminati Grand Council. (The Illuminati represent the highest rank of Freemasonry.) He was not a lowly agent. He probably gave orders to people like Winston Churchill, FDR and Stalin.

For example, he ensured that the USSR supported the establishment of the State of Israel. “He knew the proper back-channels to reach decision-makers in Moscow,” a KGB Colonel told Perry. “Let us just say, he got things done. You only did that if you reached the top. He was very persuasive.” (176)

The fact that Rothschild was protected until his death suggests this is a ruling class conspiracy. According to Greg Hallett, Anthony Blunt, a fellow spy, was an illegitimate son of George V, half-brother and look-alike to Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor. Until his exposure in 1964, Blunt was Knighted and Curator of the Queen’s art collection. He received immunity from prosecution in exchange for his confession.

Tactics of Israeli Psy-Group, Black Cube Revealed in Canadian Court Battle

Two Israeli intelligence gathering firms, Psy-Group and Black Cube, have been at the center of several exposes in recent months. The former pitched a social media manipulation campaign to the Trump campaign in 2016, according to the New York Times. The latter sent its employees to secretly find damaging information on two former Obama White House aides involved in negotiating the Iran nuclear deal, the New Yorker magazine reported. A Toronto-based investment firm, West Face Capital Inc., alleges that a rival company called Catalyst Capital Group Inc. directly or indirectly hired the Israeli companies, both of whom have boasted of their ties to state intelligence agencies, to help sway a business dispute over a 2014 bid for a telecommunications company. The connection was allegedly made through Yossi Tanuri, the director of the Jewish Federations of Canada, who states on his organizational bio page that he was a “commander in an elite unit in the Israeli Defense Forces.”

Rhode Island GOP concerned over election bill eliminating ID for mail-in ballots

"Without an ID you cannot open a bank account, drive a car, get government assistance, fly on a plane, cash a check," said state Republican Party Chairwoman Sue Cienki. "Your vote should be as important as any of those life necessities."

Rhode Island Republican Party members are concerned about elections legislation facing a vote in the state Senate on Tuesday that eliminates an identification requirement for mail-in ballots.

The state currently requires that either two witnesses or a notary attest to the identity of a voter casting their ballot by mail. However, state Republican Party Chairwoman Sue Cienki and Republican Sen. Jessica de la Cruz expressed concern over a bill from the General Assembly that eliminates that requirement without replacing it with any other ID requirement, such as a driver's license or state identification card number, The Providence Journal reported.

"There has to be a system where every eligible voter knows that their vote will be cast by them … [and] it is not an undue burden to provide an ID … [which proves] you exist," Cienki said.

"Without an ID you cannot open a bank account, drive a car, get government assistance, fly on a plane, cash a check. Your vote should be as important as any of those life necessities. We never want someone to take your vote away."

Cienki also noted how the bill does not ban ballot harvesting.

"Prohibiting the practice of mail-ballot harvesting would help protect the integrity of elections by reducing the possibility that voters will be intimidated or bribed by campaigns," she said during a news conference at the State House.

The General Assembly passed the legislation, which makes some voting changes permanent that were originally added during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the elimination of the witness requirement for absentee ballots, according to the Journal.

The legislation also allows voters to apply online for mail-in ballots, but requires either a driver's license or state ID number issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles. However, if a mail-in ballot is requested via different means, that is not online, then ID is not required. Voter ID would also not be required for the submission and counting of a mail-in ballot, the outlet noted.
