>you would select use custom DNS

>and you would set the IP adddress to 9.9.9.9 there in your router

This is what's wrong.

I'm going to log into the router and see if I can change it.

I'll probably be back on a different IP regardless.

I really hate this damn routerโ€ฆ

I'll take a look, thanks.

I found the setting and was forced to change both primary and secondary.

Changing only one of the fields to 9.9.9.9 while leaving the other at ISP default only uses the ISP default at the local machine.

Setting both to 9.9.9.9, obviously, works.

Might this be a problem in the future if that IP goes down?

Where is it pointing to anyways?

I'd love to go back to OpenWRT or similar!

Would I be able to set this up to actually replace my ISP provided modem/router shit-box and save myself $10/month?

I know line to network interface outside house is ADSL2+ bonded and not all hardware supports it.

No bridged mode found.

It's an Actiontec T3200 modem/router combo.

I've bought a few in the past online and they died within months.

Same with the ISP provided one although they last about six months to a year.

I'm on a first name basis with the girl in reception at their local office/hub I replace them that often.

Any recommendations for a stand-alone ADSL+/VDSL modem that I can pair with a stand-alone router like I did in the good 'ol days?
