>From wall to DSL labeled port on shit-box is phone-line sized plug.
in that case
best option for you to "go around" the shitbox is to put it in transparent bridge/ bridged mode
that should turn off ALL DNS/DHCP/NATing on the shitbox and it would directly pass the WAN IP from your ISP through from its DSL port to its ethernet port(s)
You connect one of the LAN ports on the shitbox to the WAN port on your new 'better' router (in this case the MikroTik if you get one)
If your shitbox has an "actual" bridged mode, that is going to be your winning ticket
if it doesnt
then next best option is to connect the equipment exactly as I have described above
except, make sure you new "better" router is using a different IP address subnet than the shitbox
I.E.
if the shitbox is using 192.168.1.1
new router should use 192.168.0.1
or 192.168.2.1
or 192.168.52.1
or 10.10.10.1
literally any other private subnet that ISNT the one your shitbox uses
then
place the new "better" routers IP address in the shitboxes "DMZ"
it will be under firewall options somewhere most likely
by placing the new router in the shitboxes DMZ, the shitbox will pass ALL traffic directly through to the new router without applying any firewall/ routing rules
this is not as smooth as going fully bridged on the shitbox
but it will work
all options from there get even gayer
requiring more initial configuration/
and having more potential for "falling apart" if the configuration breaks itself
good luck :D
