China: US presence in Syria is illegal
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian described the United States of America as the "persecutor of our times," in reference to all the wars it has fought.
"Since 2001, the war the US provoked in the Middle East has killed 900,000 people," Legian said in a tweet.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson added that the "US presence in northeastern Syria is illegal," and is present under the pretext of "helping the Kurds eliminate the threat of ISIS."
It pointed out that "the US military has controlled the largest oil and gas fields in Syria and has been exporting oil to its bases in Iraq for more than 5 years."
Relations between the United States and China are witnessing increasing tensions, especially after Joe Biden acceded to the presidency in Washington. Moreover, the latter has since been working to increase pressure on China, both economically and politically, to prevent it from increasing its influence and presence at the global level.
