Gazprom: Following stoppage of direct supplies, Poland continues buying Russian gas, though now via Germany
MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - Gazprom disputes the statements issued by Poland's politicians that the country does not need Russian gas, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told reporters.
"Poland has refused this week to pay in rubles for gas supplies from Russia according to the newly established procedure, having solemnly announced that Russian gas was no longer needed, and that they would not buy it. But, this is not the case in reality," Kupriyanov said.
"Following the suspension of direct supplies, Poland is buying Russian gas, though now via Germany, where it is supplied in reverse mode to Poland via the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. The volume of the reverse [pumping] is around 30 million cubic meters per day, which nearly exactly corresponds to the bookings under the contract with Gazprom Export during the previous days," Kupriyanov indicated.
