CT U.S. Attorney Durham’s Ukraine probe could draw new scrutiny

Emilie Munson Sep. 30, 2019

“Mr. Durham is gathering information from numerous sources, including a number of foreign countries,” said Kerri Kupec, a DOJ spokesman, on Monday. “

Last week, Kupec said Barr had not yet contacted Ukraine in connection with this investigation, but “certain Ukrainianwho are not members of the government have volunteered information to Mr. Durham, which he is evaluating.”

Durham’s investigation — examining how U.S. officials probed the Trump campaign’s contacts with Russia — was kicked off in May at the behest of Barr. But the fact that Ukraine is one target of the ongoing investigation is relatively new.

Moreover, in his complaint, the whistleblower raised questions about whether this investigation by Durham was connected to the alleged efforts of Trump and his personal lawyer to persuade Ukraine to open a probe into former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., and his son Hunter Biden.

The whistleblower noted in his complaint that Rudy Giuliani, the president’s lawyer, discussed Durham’s work in an August interview on Fox News.

Democrats also want to question the whistleblower and other Trump administration officials. It’s unclear if Durham, who was appointed U.S. Attorney by Trump in 2018, may also be on their list.

A spokesman for the House Intelligence Committee did not comment on the matter.

Durham is a highly respected career prosecutor with a long history of tackling organized crime at the state and federal level. He’s handled sensitive investigations for U.S. attorneys general of both parties.

In 2009, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder chose Durham for the job of investigating whether CIA agents and private contractors broke the law by abusing terror suspects during questioning….

In May, Attorney General Barr gave Durham another tricky job: determine whether the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Obama administration’s Department of Justice followed the law when they examined possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in the lead up to the 2016 election.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., a former prosecutor and attorney general himself, expressed worries back in May thatDurham’s new assignment was a “politically motivated distraction.”

“It threatens to degrade the career professionals — like John Durham — who devote their lives to law enforcement,” Blumenthal said. “This is an example of another very professional public servant tasked with a very unprofessional and unbecoming job.”

But former U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey wrote in the Wall Street Journal Sunday that it was Durham’s investigation into Ukraine, not Congress’s impeachment inquiry, that he trusted to get to the bottom of things.

“Mr. Durham works quietly to determine whether highly specific criminal laws were violated, and if so by whom,” Mukasey wrote in an op-ed. “He is an experienced and principled prosecutor who has earned the confidence of attorneys general of both parties, including me. Stay tuned.”

Connecticut’s entire Congressional delegation has backed the impeachment inquiry that was kicked off by House Democrats on Sept. 24. In response to the a transcript of Trump’s July 25 call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

In the call, Trump asked for Zelenskiy for a “favor” and mentions Biden and a Ukrainian prosecutor’s work. Trump asked Zelenskiy to work with Barr and Giuliani on the matter.

Trump's team has alleged that during a visit to Ukraine in 2016, Joe Biden pressured government officials there to fire a top prosecutor or the U.S. would withhold $1 billion in aid.

Later in the summer, after the July call, the Trump administration briefly withheld millions in military aid to Ukraine.

(They had to impeach Trump to get Durham fired, to get him off the Ukraine and Russia leads, this was about the Cabals existential survival.Everything, everything leads back to Ukraine!)

This 2020 Time Article Explains Why The Left Fears Losing Twitter

Of all the hysterical leftist reactions to Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter on Monday, MSNBC host Ari Melber’s was easily the most revealing.

“If you own all of Twitter or Facebook or what have you, you don’t have to explain yourself,” he gravely intoned during his show Monday evening. “You don’t even have to be transparent. You could secretly ban one party’s candidate or all of its candidates, all of its nominees, or you could just secretly turn down the reach of their stuff and turn up the reach of something else, and the rest of us might not even find out about it ‘til after the election.”

You don’t say. This was in fact the way the left used social media to win the 2020 presidential election. They even admitted it openly in a stunning yet largely forgotten February 2021 article in Time magazine entitled “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign that Saved the 2020 Election.”

“For more than a year, a loosely organized coalition of operatives scrambled to shore up America’s institutions as they came under simultaneous attack from a remorseless pandemic and an autocratically inclined President,” wrote reporter Molly Ball. “Their work touched every aspect of the election.”

And they wanted credit for it, Ball continued, “even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream — a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information.”

Their aim… wasn’t to rig the election but to “fortify” it against then-President Donald Trump and his allies…

“Their work touched every aspect of the election. They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding….”

The final piece was critical, especially in the waning days of the campaign, when an October surprise in the form of Hunter Biden’s laptop threatened to derail his father’s candidacy…

The New York Post’s exclusive storydropped like a grenade less than a month before Election Day, providing “smoking-gun emails” showing that the younger Biden introduced his father “to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm…

Facebook quickly acted to limit the reach of the story, while Twitter took the extraordinary step of locking the Post’s account…

…Once 50 obviously partisan intelligence officials calling the laptop materials “Russian disinformation,” it was determined that they would be censored in both legacy and social media.

…more than a year after Biden was safely elected, both The New York Times and WAPO confirmed that the laptop was genuine, but the censorship did its job: A poll of swing state voters confirmed that 16 percent of Biden supporters would have changed their votes had they heard of the laptop story, including 4 percent who would have switched their vote to Trump.

This obviously would have swung the entire election to Trump, but that would have been an unacceptable result for the leftist cabal intent on “fortifying” democracy by stacking the deck against him.social media censorship was the most effective way they did it.

And naturally they had to brag about it in Time.

“Trump’s lies and conspiracy theories, the viral force of social media and the involvement of foreign meddlers made disinformation a broader, deeper threat to the 2020 vote,” Ball reported. “Laura Quinn, a veteran progressive operative who co-founded Catalist, began studying this problem a few years ago. She piloted a nameless, secret project, which she has never before publicly discussed, that tracked disinformation online and tried to figure out how to combat it.”

She ultimately concluded that engaging with this supposedly “toxic content” or trying to debunk it was ineffective, so “the solution, she concluded, was to pressure platforms to enforce their rules, both by removing content or accounts that spread disinformation and by more aggressively policing it…”

This research armed liberal activists to pressure social media companies like Twitter and Facebook to far more aggressively and creatively enforce their rules, prompting a crackdown on “disinformation”…

This reveals the real threat of Musk’s Twitter takeover:If it is no longer possible to suppress factual information in the name of rescuing democracy from its alleged enemies, then those enemies (read: Republicans) might start winning more elections. And that is simply unacceptable.

So what are they trying to do? Discount the lawsuit because its backed by a crazy fan.

Another major fail happening. Especially since Durham has stated it is a conspiracy explicitly in his pleadings, which reinforces Trumps lawsuit
