President Joe Biden coming to Alabama to visit Lockheed Martin facility
President Joe Biden will visit Alabama next week, the White House revealed today.
On Tuesday, May 3, the President will travel to Alabama to visit a Lockheed Martin facility which manufactures weapon systems such as Javelin anti-tank missiles. The missiles are among aid being provided to Ukraine as a defense measure since the Russian invasion. More details about the trip will be revealed later.
The visit marks Biden’s first trip to Alabama as president. He made a September 2019 campaign stop in Birmingham. First Lady Jill Biden visited Birmingham in April 2021 to discuss President Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
Biden plans to visit the facility at Troy.
The factory has about 600 employees working on a number of different weapons programs, according to the company’s website.
Lockheed Martin also has locations in Huntsville, Anniston, and Enterprise.

Joe Biden is coming to Minnesota on Sunday. The White House announced Monday the president will travel to Minneapolis on May 1, but did not provide any details about his visit, only saying "additional details to follow." The University of Minnesota confirmed Biden plans to attend Sunday's memorial service for former Vice President Walter Mondale, who died in April 2021. The president plans to speak at the service, the U of M said. After Mondale's death, Biden called him a "dear friend and mentor" and "one of our nation's most dedicated patriots and public servants."
