Fully Vaccinated and Boosted White House Comms Director Kate Bedingfield Tests Positive for Coronavirus

White House communications director Kate Bedingfield, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, on Friday announced she tested positive for the Chinese coronavirus, noting she last saw President Joe Biden 48-hours earlier while taking precautions, such as wearing an N-95 mask and social distancing.

“This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19. I last saw the President Wednesday in a socially-distanced meeting while wearing an N-95 mask, and he is not considered a close contact as defined by the CDC,” Bedingfield wrote on Friday, crediting her “mild” symptoms to being both vaccinated and boosted.

“Thanks to being fully vaccinated and boosted, I am only experiencing mild symptoms. In alignment with White House COVID-19 protocols, I will work from home and plan to return to work in person at the conclusion of a five-day isolation period and a negative test,” she added:

The news comes just ahead of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD), which has raised concerns for some officials. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Biden’s chief medical adviser, will not attend the event, citing his own personal risk of contracting the virus.

While Biden will attend, he will skip the dinner portion and likely wear a mask when he is not speaking, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

“He has made the decision he wants to attend, in a safe way, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to show his support — showcase his support for the free press, for the work of all of you, for the work of your colleagues around the world to not only share accurate information about COVID but also report on the war in Ukraine and all of the work that happens every single day,” Psaki told reporters during Wednesday’s press conference:

I would expect that he may wear a mask when he’s not speaking. I’ll wear a mask when I’m at the dinner, in all likelihood. And we also took steps, including the fact that he’s not attending for the eating portion of the dinner and he’ll be there for the program, which includes a number of speakers, the presentation of scholarships, as you know, and, of course, his speaking and his roasting, where he will be “on the menu,” as he likes to say, when Trevor Noah is speaking.

Bedingfield is the latest to contract the virus this month after a string of high profile figures did as well, including 82-year-old House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Twitter’s ‘chief censor’ making $17M per year could be fired by Elon Musk

Twitter’s chief lawyer — seen as the social network’s top advocate for censoring conservatives — is among the highly paid executives who stand to lose their job if Elon Musk completes his takeover of the company.

Vijaya Gadde, who earned $17 million last year as Twitter’s top legal counsel, could be on the chopping block as Musk is reportedly planning to slash jobs and reduce executive pay as he looks to secure financing for his Twitter bid.

After disclosing plans to acquire the company earlier this month, Musk expressed “no confidence” in Twitter’s current management — which doesn’t bode well for their future once he takes the helm later this year.

Nevertheless, Gadde also stands to win a nice consolation price if she’s fired: a severance package worth $12.5 million that includes the accelerated vesting of a trove of Twitter shares she has accrued.

The 48-year-old Gadde, who reportedly broke down in tears when addressing colleagues about the future of Twitter, has become a lightning rod for controversy in recent days due in no small part to Musk himself, who tweeted a meme that painted her as oblivious to a “liberal bias” at Twitter.

The meme draws on an appearance by Gadde and her then-boss, former CEO Jack Dorsey, on Joe Rogan’s podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” in 2019.

During that appearance, conservative journalist Tim Pool confronted both Dorsey and Gadde about instances in which right-wing voices were banned from Twitter.

The Musk tweet as well as a critical tweet by journalist Saagar Enjeti, who called Gadde Twitter’s “top censorship advocate” who “censored the Hunter Biden laptop story,” prompted pro-Musk Twitter users to criticize her.

Musk also implicitly criticized Gadde by calling Twitter’s decision to block links to the New York Post’s coverage of Hunter Biden’s laptop “obviously incredibly inappropriate.”

The piece was banned by major social media sites in the weeks before the election, with Twitter justifying accusations of censorship by labeling the story “content obtained through hacking that contains private information.”

Many mainstream outlets also tried to discredit the Post’s article, before later reporting on its veracity long after President Joe Biden was elected.

In response to the flood of online criticism directed at Gadde earlier this week, another top Twitter executive defended her and accused Musk of “misogyny.”

Lara Cohen, Twitter’s global head of partners, also shared messages of support for Leslie Berland, the company’s chief marketing officer who was caught in leaked audio suggesting that Musk’s plans for free speech put them in “a very difficult position.”

“Color me shocked SHOCKED that people are coming for two of our prominent female executives on day 1 of this thing,” Cohen tweeted late Tuesday.

She also shared a tweet attacking Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley for pointing out that the tearful Gadde was “the same one who led the charge to censor the Hunter Biden laptop reporting. Says it all.”

Hawley called on the world’s richest man to also now investigate the company’s old ways, including widespread suspensions of accounts as well as reports of shadowbans suppressing voices.

In an official letter, he called on Musk to also investigate “who was responsible for deliberately suppressing the New York Post’s now-vindicated reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop and business dealings.”

Biden's Disinformation Board Is Led by Woman Who Thought Hunter's Laptop Was Russian Disinfo

As Townhall has pointed out (here and here) already, the Biden administration's decision to create a "disinformation" board aimed at cracking down on what it deems to be "misinformation" is going to be a disaster for First Amendment rights. Among her other troubling comments and Democrats' attitudes toward free expression (for me, not for thee), her repeated embrace of the leftist narrative that Hunter Biden's laptop from hell was a phony story cooked up by the Russian government is absolutely disqualifying from any role addressing disinformation.

It's not rocket science — if you engaged in disinformation by falsely saying something else was disinformation, you have no business running a federal board that's supposed to figure out what's true and what's not. Yet here we are with Nina Jankowicz announcing that she's "[h]onored to be serving in the Biden Administration" and "helping shape our counter-disinformation efforts."

Here she is in the final days of the 2020 campaign again pushing the false narrative that The New York Post's reporting on the existence and contents of Hunter Biden's laptop from hell. She peddled the idea that Hunter's laptop was a continuation of 2019 efforts by Ukrainians to "sell access to alleged Biden emails."

She also cites to the supposed expert former national security and intelligence community officials who falsely claimed that Hunter's laptop is "a Russian influence op."

She continued her indulgence of literal misinformation by claiming the "emails [on Hunter's laptop] don't need to be altered to be part of an influence campaign." So, a half-hearted admission that the emails found on Hunter's hard drive could be real, but still the result of Russian disinformation and therefore should be disregarded?

And as recently as last March, Jankowicz was still tweeting about how "the alleged Hunter laptop" was the result of Kremlin proxies used to push "misleading or unsubstantiated claims."

Yet this woman has been chosen by the Biden administration and Department of Homeland Security to lead a new board that's certain to crack down on free expression for whatever it deems "dangerous" — not to America but to Democrat narratives and power.
