Talk to an estate planning attorney. There are pros and cons to everything so educating yourself is important. As with everything on life, research it. I'd do that before talking to an attorney then you can ask intelligent questions and potentially spot a shyster.

For me the cost was equal to having an attorney draw up just the medical and financial powers of attorney and the living and final Wills alone.

Watched too many friends put the equivalent of a rather nice retirement fund into 25 cent video game machines to get distracted by games. I think my old Atari console is still at my parents old house. Wonder if it is worth anything.

Reminds me of Pieces of Eight but I'm nit familiar with the item in the pic. I've got two eight Reales off of the El Cazador Spanish warship found off New Orleans. Story of that ship and it's silver cargo is interdasting AF. Had that ship made the port of New Orleans, the USA westward expansion would have ended at the Mississippi river. They believe it was sunk by icebergs that were flowing out of the Mississippi. Imagine icebergs big enough to sink a brig of war in the Gulf of Mexico.

Wish I still had that dig. Real history is so much more interesting that the garbage they give us. The loss of El Cazador was carrying a massive load of silver from Mexico but lost without a trace. It's arrival would have revitalized the French colony at New Orleans and likely stopped the USA at ol Miss. That and the loss of two French warships loaded with elite troops at Haiti during the only successful slave rebellion and the fact that France was broke because of Napoleons little man complex made the Louisiana Purchase possible.

Those two French warships were only making a temporary stop at Haiti but were destined for New Orleans to begin laying down the law in France West. The Haitians slaughtered them. The French controlled the New Orleans seaport and were putting a stranglehold on American goods headed for port to be sailed around Florida and up the eastern USA. Americans dependent on that trade route were willing to become French to get their goods to market.
