some of this is from personal experience-got to travel a lot as a kid-and saw many of the early 80's races in europe.
He NEVER took his helmet off after he got in the car and he did that just prior to the start of this race he was killed in-picrel

RIP Ayrton-certainly did shit on the track that I thought was pretty sketchy but his talent was unmatched and cold take a dog of a car and make it perform-the Williams of tha year wasa dog early on and he took moar risks than he was comfortable with to try and maintain pace to keep up with Schumacher-which led to the accident-but it was the steering column that failed so no matter what he was always going to have that accident
The other side of the story is that he was bi-sexual (I could care less about it too) but in the 'macho' racing world that was not a good thing.
When he first arrived in F1 (and the lower formulas in europe) his 'attendant', because they call them personal trainers now and those did not exist then, was easily gay. No question about it I saw it and as mentioned I could care less.
So he had a series of high profile popular Brazilian 'girlfriends' to try an counter this perception-one his companions was Xuxa who was a popular host of a kids TV show and he also has an american girlfriend too. So there was that-never married either.
