Most of Israel is secular. Only the ultra-orthodox follow Talmud these days. To most Jews, it is just a reflection of the historical period in which it was written and they recognize many of the statements in there as reactions to the charges of being Christ-killers.

The ultra-orthodox are a vocal minority in Israel and do wield a lot of power but are not well liked by the secular Israelis.
