Meet the Companies that Will Facilitate Abortions for Red State Employees

Employees of these woke companies who live in red states will still be able to obtain abortions should Roe v. Wade be overturned.

Since conservative-leaning states began flexing their legislative muscles to outlaw abortion within their borders or severely limit its practice, companies from the likes of Amazon to Yelp have been drafting policies that will pay for employees’ abortions should they live in a state that outlaws the practice. After Politico published the leaked Supreme Court decision indicating that Roe v. Wade may be in its final days, more and more companies have been actively considering implementing such a practice, with none other than Amazon joining the fold this week.

CNN reported on Wednesday.

Amazon became the latest corporation to cover employees’ travel costs to seek abortion care. The company told staff it would pay up to $4,000 in travel expenses annually for medical treatments including abortions, according to a message seen by Reuters. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the nature of the Reuters report to CNN Business.

Amazon joined Citigroup, Yelp, Uber, Lyft, Bumble, Match Group, and Salesforce to draft such a policy. On Tuesday, Levi Strauss & Co. reminded its employees that its current benefits program will grant reimbursements “for healthcare-related travel expenses for services not available in their home state, including those related to reproductive health care and abortion.” The company said:

Access to reproductive health care, including abortion, has been a critical factor to the workplace gains and contributions women have made over the past 50 years. Further restricting or criminalizing access will jeopardize that progress and disproportionately affect women of color, putting their well-being at risk and impeding diverse hiring pipelines.

Women in some states would have fewer rights than women in others, and our country would be consigned to a more unjust and inequitable future. What’s more, companies would need different health policies for different locations – including coverage for time off and travel across state lines – to ensure employees can access reproductive health care.

Likewise, Match Group CEO Shar Dubey said in a statement that she “personally, as a woman in Texas, could not keep silent” when the company announced its abortion tourism policy this past September in response to the Texas law that banned abortion in most cases.

As Breitbart News recently profiled, a Fox News poll showed that a majority of Americans want and support some abortion restrictions.

“Most Americans believe abortion should be either ‘mostly’ or ‘always’ illegal, and support banning abortion after 15 weeks, a Fox News poll released this week found,” said the report. “The national poll, conducted prior to the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion overruling Roe v. Wade, found that 54 percent favor banning abortion in their respective state after 15 weeks of pregnancy, compared to 41 percent who oppose. Additionally, more favor banning abortion in their state after just six weeks than oppose — 50 percent to 46 percent.”

Zelensky calls Bennett to discuss Lavrov’s ‘scandalous’ Hitler comparison

Ukrainian leader says he has ‘fruitful’ talks with PM, updated him on war with Russia; earlier lamented world’s ‘weak’ response so far to Russia claim that Hitler had Jewish blood

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that he had held “fruitful negotiations” with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett during a phone call and discussed the “scandalous” remarks by Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov who said Nazi leader Adolf Hitler had Jewish blood.

“Held fruitful negotiations with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. Congratulated him and the people of Israel on Independence Day!” Zelensky tweeted, adding that he had updated Benett on the fight against Russia and “about the critical situation in Mariupol.”

Later, in his nightly address to the Ukrainian people, Zelensky said the two leaders had also discussed the “scandalous and completely unacceptable remarks” by Lavrov, according to Reuters.

Ties between Israel and Russia have frayed in recent days following a claim by Lavrov that Adolf Hitler had Jewish heritage, in an attempt to explain Moscow’s attempts to “denazify” Ukraine, whose president, Zelensky, is Jewish.

There was no immediate readout on the conversation from Bennett’s office. The call came as Israel celebrates its 74th Independence Day.

Despite Bennett at one point trying to mediate between Ukraine and Russia, ties between Zelensky and Bennett have been strained over accusations that Israel was not sufficiently supportive of Ukraine, nor critical enough of Russia.

However, there has been a shift in tone from Israel in recent days, especially following the evidence of massacres carried out by Russia and the recent antisemitic comments of Lavrov.

Illegal Aliens Sue Texas Officials After Arrests For Trespassing

A group of illegal aliens has filed a lawsuit against Texas officials for alleged constitutional violations within the governor’s Operation Lone Star criminal trespass program.

The lawyers for the 15 plaintiffs hope to turn the case into a class action lawsuit on behalf of more than 2,000 illegal immigrants whom they say have been over-incarcerated; arrested based on race, immigration status, or national origin; as well as denied due process.

“In particular, the Plaintiffs and the Class Members have suffered a common cause of injury, namely the violation of their Fourth Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment rights,” the lawsuit states.

“Using state criminal law, the state of Texas and participating counties have created, and are carrying out what is, in reality, a system of state immigration enforcement that targets Black and Brown—primarily Latino—individuals for prosecution and enhanced punishment.”

The lawyers are seeking $18,000 per day for each inmate that is found to have been unlawfully incarcerated or unlawfully reincarcerated. They also seek an injunction to discontinue the Operation Lone Star program.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin division.

Grand jurors slam Gardner, Soros-funded prosecutor who indicted Greitens: 'Disturbing and unethical'

The grand jurors called for the Democratic St. Louis Circuit Attorney to face a harsher punishment.

Seven grand jurors wrote a letter to a judge slamming the actions of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner as "disturbing and unethical," after she admitted to wrongdoing in her prosecution of former Missouri Republican Gov. Eric Greitens.

The same jurors indicted former-FBI agent William Don Tisaby, who pleaded guilty in March to witness tampering after he was hired by the Democratic circuit attorney to investigate Greitens.

The jurors sent their letter on April 20 to Judge Rex Burlison, who presided over the case against the governor. It is addressed to an ethics investigation panel that is currently debating whether to accept Gardner's settlement and put a formal reprimand on her law license. In their letter obtained by KMOV on Wednesday, the jurors called for Gardner's punishment to be more severe.

"During our eight months of Special Grand Jury service, our investigation resulted in the indictment of an individual who was very closely associated with Ms. Gardner," the jurors wrote in the letter.

"Our work exposed us to activity and behaviors in the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s office that we considered disturbing and unethical. What we observed was not inadvertent nor inconsequential but was calculated deceit and/or outright incompetence; neither of which is acceptable behavior for a person holding this public office," the anonymous jurors stressed.

The group said they are "extremely disappointed" with the Missouri Office of Disciplinary Counsel's recommended punishment.

"We urge you to consider much stronger disciplinary action in this case. We firmly believe such action is warranted," they said.

"The individual we indicted was accused of many crimes, however, he was a private citizen. In our opinion, Ms. Gardner’s offenses were markedly worse," the jurors noted.

"As a lawyer sworn to uphold the law and as a public servant voted to the city’s highest prosecutorial office, her behavior should be beyond reproach. Yet her disregard for the law, as detailed in both the Special Grand Jury indictment as well as in the ethics charges, is reprehensible. Our assignment as jurors was to investigate the indicted but our efforts revealed prosecutorial misconduct we believed were likely indictable as well," they said.

"A strong message must be delivered in this case. If not, we can only feel our time and energy were wasted," the jurors pleaded.

Gardner, who received campaign funding from a George Soros-linked PAC in 2020, admitted to wrongdoing last month in her case against Greitens.

The Circuit Attorney's Office did not respond to KMOV's request for comment.

Stacey Abrams-tied loan firm shifted its liabilities to U.S. taxpayers, and it paid off handsomely

Once portrayed as person of modest means, Georgia activist now a millionaire who earned $300k from loan business in single year, ethics disclosure shows.

Stacey Abrams' net worth skyrocketed over 2,800% in just three years thanks in part to her holdings in a company called Now Corp. (previously called NowAccount or "Now"), a Government Accountability Institute study has found.

In 2018, Abrams reported a net worth of just $109,000 in her personal financial disclosure ahead of her failed 2018 gubernatorial bid in Georgia. Now, as she heads into the 2022 gubernatorial race, Abrams' campaign filings show her net worth is more than $3.17 million after making more than $6 million in book advances, speaking deals and growing corporate investments like NowAccount.

Abrams cofounded the NowAccount financial technology ("fintech") start-up in 2010 with business partners Lara Hodgson and John Hayes. Their business got off to a slow start, but NowAccount was able to pay Abrams $80,000 in salary in her first year as senior vice president and $60,000 per year in subsequent years.

In 2013, Abrams' fintech company pulled in just $100,000 in annual revenue, but thanks to a federal small business loan program overseen by the state of Georgia, NowAccount would soon have the power to distribute nearly $10 million in taxpayer funds to its network of applicants. By 2016, NowAccount's applicants were defaulting on their loans, and taxpayers were left to bail out more than $1.5 million in bad loans.

NowAccount's value spiked in October 2021 after a $29 million financing and investment deal that the company made with two private equity firms. Abrams, who has owned as much as 16% of NowAccount, announced her 2022 bid for governor on Dec. 1 — less than eight weeks after the $29 million windfall.

Abrams was the minority leader of the Georgia House from 2011 until she resigned ahead of her 2018 run for governor. The fact that her business got federally backed state contracts while she held high-level positions in the state Legislature drew sharp criticism during her first gubernatorial campaign in 2018. Abrams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she "played no role in securing the state contracts" for NowAccount and that she "scrupulously avoided conflicts of interest," the outlet reported in 2018.

The decision to apply for taxpayer funding under the 2010 Jobs Act was Abrams' idea. "I read the Jobs Act," Abrams said. "I brought the provision to" NowAccount's cofounders. Abrams was aware that her role as minority leader of the Georgia House might pose a conflict so she "talked about it" with her cofounders and said, "Here's what we can do," but she emphasized that she "did not want there to be any conflict at all."

One of the firms associated with Abrams' NowAccount was Happy Faces Personnel Group, Inc. Happy Faces was the election night staffing firm hired to scan and count ballots in Atlanta's Fulton County on election night, Nov. 3, 2020.
