I watched that movie the other day, was somewhat painful with how stupid it was, but, reading between the lines, showed exactly where we're at: 2 Scientists discover a comet heading to earth, get catagorized as 'Conspiracy Theorists', it's not until near the very end, the general public realize they were right when they can visually see the comet. Maybe I read too much into it, but couldn't help to see the similarities
