I've got HFA and it's been very hard trying to find a job since being fired for COVID non-compliance from my fabrication position almost fourteen months ago. I'd call one place and it's "Are you vaxxed?" or I'd never get past the first phone interview because of my speech problems. And in-person interviews? Forget it. I could almost feel them laughing at me during the whole process.
I know it's been doubly hard on wifey what-with being sole bread winner, our savings dropping to almost zero and not knowing if anyone would ever hire me because of my "condition".
Well, I was just informed that I've been hired at a much smaller conservative-owned and operated business at almost double the pay.
Not only does the owner not give a shit about my autistic status, he straight told me he thought it would be a "bigly yuge asset" (his words) to his business due to the detail and complexity of what he, now I, manufacture.
I'm not here for your feelz, so please don't get triggered and/or feel you need to bother with a reply, I just wanted to say thank you to all you guise for helping me keep my mind right during these troubling times.
There's been so many times where I wanted to just check out, but one of you would always pull me back at the last second. Most of the time without even knowing you were doing so.
So, thank you.
And thank you, J, (I've a sneaking suspicion you frequent this place), for not only letting me get back to doing something I truly love doing, but for giving me the change to really excel at it.
