Abortion Tourism: Canadian Minister Says American Women Can Come to Canada For Abortions

Canadian Families Minister Karina Gould has claimed that Americans could travel to Canada to seek abortions if the U.S. supreme court returns abortion laws to the states by overturning Roe v. Wade.

Ironically titled Families Minister Gould stated during a television interview that American women seeking abortions would be able to travel to Canada to do so if their states banned the practice.

“If they, people, come here and need access, certainly, you know, that’s a service that would be provided,” Minister Gould said during an interview with broadcaster CBC and the network’s Power and Politics programme earlier this week.

Under Canadian law, abortions are legal during all nine months of a pregnancy but in practice, abortion is regulated by each province, with few late-term abortions being sanctioned unless a medical need can be proven.

Since the apparently leaked Supreme Court (SCOTUS) draft opinion was published earlier this week which suggested that the court would be overturning Roe V. Wade, which would allow states to determine the legality of abortion on their own, Canadian politicians across the spectrum have come out in favour of abortion.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter stating, “The right to choose is a woman’s right and a woman’s right alone,” and added, “Every woman in Canada has a right to a safe and legal abortion. We’ll never back down from protecting and promoting women’s rights in Canada and around the world.”

The interim leader of the Canadian Conservative Party (CPC) Candice Bergen also assured voters that her party had no intention of raising the issue of abortion or even debating it.

“Access to abortion was not restricted under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and the Conservative Party will not introduce legislation or reopen the abortion debate,” Bergen said in a statement.

Canada is not the first country to offer “abortion tourism” to women in countries with restrictive laws on abortion.

In 2020, members of Sweden’s Green Party proposed that Swedish taxpayers should subsidize abortions for Polish women visiting the country for the procedure after a Polish court struck down a law against the abortion of children with disabilities.

Sweden’s former Minister for Gender Equality, Åsa Lindhagen had previously praised the idea of “abortion tourism” on social media as well.

Nina Jankowicz Voiced Fear of ‘Free Speech Absolutists’ Like Elon Musk After Starting Job for DHS Disinformation Board

Nina Jankowicz, the leader of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) new Disinformation Governance Board expressed fears of “free speech absolutists” like Elon Musk taking over social media platforms — after she was hired by the government.

Jankowicz, who started work at the DHS on March 2 did a National Public Radio interview on April 16 reacting to the news of Elon Musk trying to take over Twitter.

During the interview with host Michel Martin, Jankowicz was asked about “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk.

“The platforms aren’t doing very much right now,” she said. “And I shudder to think about if free speech absolutists were taking over more platforms, what that would look like for the marginalized communities all around the world.”

Jankowicz promoted her latest book in the interview, How To Be A Woman Online: Surviving Abuse And Harassment, And How To Fight Back, and complained about the criticism and mockery that she faced online.

Netflix Hit with Shareholder Lawsuit Alleging Executives Misled Investors Amid Subscriber Exodus

As its stock tanks and its subscribers continue to flee, Netflix is now facing a shareholder lawsuit accusing the left-wing streamer of misleading investors about the difficulties the company was experiencing in retaining customers.

The lawsuit, which was filed Tuesday in a northern California federal court, covers Netflix shareholders who bought the stock between October 19, 2021 and April 19, 2022 — a period during which the value of the stock plummeted a stunning 67 percent.

“As a result of Defendants’ wrongful acts and omissions, and the precipitous decline in the market value of the Company’s securities, Plaintiff and other Class members have suffered significant losses and damages,” the court filing states.

The suit, which is being brought by a trustee of an entity called the Imperium Irrevocable Trust, cited public statements made by Netflix during its most recent third and fourth quarter earnings reports in which the company painted an optimistic picture of subscriber growth.

But the truth was revealed last month when Netflix dropped a bombshell on its investors, reporting the company had lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022 and, worse yet, is expecting to lose a whopping 2 million more customers in the months ahead.

“As a result of these materially false and/or misleading statements, and/or failures to disclose, Netflix’s securities traded at artificially inflated prices during the Class Period,” the complaint reads.

“Plaintiff and other members of the Class purchased or otherwise acquired Netflix’s securities relying upon the integrity of the market price of the Company’s securities and market information relating to Netflix, and have been damaged thereby.”

The lawsuit is seeking class-action status, with the hope that more Netflix shareholders will join.

Netflix’s financial outlook is so gloomy that billionaire investor Bill Ackman recently dumped 3.1 million shares of the company at a reported loss of more than $400 million, saying he has lost confidence in the ability to predict the streamer’s future prospects.

As Breitbart News reported, Netflix has seen its market capitalization lose $50 billion since the company reported its first-quarter subscriber loss.

Pennsylvania Senator Cris Dush Is Doing All He Can to Address 2020 Election Fraud In the State

Pennsylvania Senator Cris Dush is doing all he can to address voting issues in the state but it isn’t easy.

In early April we reported on the results of an investigation in Lehigh County Pennsylvania where multiple individuals stuffed multiple ballots in drop boxes in the 2020 Election. This work was performed by a group of professionals by the name of Envoy Sage who are independent of the 2000 Mules group.

Both the 2000 Mules group and Envoy Sage identified that an estimated 7% of all ballots dropped in drop boxes in the investigations they performed were illegally harvested.

Pennsylvania Senator Cris Dush brought forward the results from Envoy Sage in a recent Senate committee meeting. Local media outlet PennLive recently reported on Republican Senator Cris Dush’s meeting to discuss this investigation and election issues in the state.

A Republican-led Senate committee investigating election integrity issues turned its attention to the security of ballot drop boxes in the 2021 elections on Thursday in yet another hearing that Democrats considered a waste of time and eventually walked out.

Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee Chairman Cris Dush, R-Jefferson County, said the hearing was intended to air out concerns that Pennsylvanians have raised about how elections are run with the use of drop boxes being a significant part of them.

At the conclusion of the meeting Senator Dush made some observations.

At the hearing’s conclusion, Dush said from the testimony it’s clear counties don’t have the resources needed to address issues that were raised during the more than three-hour hearing. He said had drop boxes been legislatively authorized instead of by the courts, “we’d have had a much different set of circumstances and a lot less questioning about how the voting happened.”

While Dush indicated the committee needs to investigate more of these instances and hoped for cooperation from Democrats going forward, a response from Costa offered afterward make it clear that is unlikely.

“Enough is enough,” Costa said. “We’ve had too many frivolous, wasteful hearings and each one serves only to undermine our electoral process and democracy. We must move forward with reforms or legislation that the county commissioners and Department of State have asked us for including longer time to process ballots. Or the majority party should hold off on hearings that purport to be about election security and administration.”

Senator Dush shared with us last night some additional information related to his efforts in Pennsylvania to get to the bottom of the 2020 Election results in the state. Below are some bullets from that conversation.

Efforts to uncover what happened in the 2020 Election have been hampered by the Democrat Secretary of State and Attorney General as well as the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Most of the money to perform these investigations is spent on attorney fees to fight for the right to investigate.

The Lehigh County video will hold up in court and in this sense, it’s similar to the work performed by Justice Gableman in Wisconsin, that too will hold up in court.

After the hearing noted above, within 3 days the Senate proposed a bill to remove drop boxes in the state.

In Lehigh County, the Republican DA said he would prosecute next time anyone caught dropping multiple ballots illegally in drop boxes but not this time?

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has four justices who should have been impeached in 2018. Senator Dush had impeachment resolutions drafted but these were blocked. This still should be done.

The Texas lawsuit in the 2020 Election was excellent. Justice Roberts pushed it off and then decided not to hear it but the issues are still there and it would be great to see an attorney raise this now as it still should be addressed (i.e. should states be allowed to have drop boxes if the legislature has not authorized their use?)

There are still numerous items to investigate in Pennsylvania and Senator Dush would like to see this work performed.

Senator Dush is doing what he can to get transparency in the 2020 Election and beyond. He’s not just talking the talk, he’s walking the walk.

Nancy Pelosi Demands U.S. Go To Full War With Russia, Even If It Leads To Nuclear War: ‘We Should Not Be Deterred By The Threats From Russia’

Nancy Pelosi has called for the “strongest possible” military retaliation to Russia’s attack on Ukraine following meetings with officials in Warsaw and Kiev.

She added that the West should not be deterred by the threat of retaliation from Moscow.

After meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday, Pelosi said Washington and its allies must escalate their efforts against Moscow, demanding for the “strongest possible military response” and “the strongest sanctions” in order to “make the case that this is not tolerable.”

“We shouldn’t do anything less because of a threat from Russia,” she concluded.

RT reports: The House speaker also noted that the US delegation “discussed the centrality of the US-Poland partnership in delivering security, economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine,” as well as “the importance of bolstering the NATO alliance.”

Both nations have devoted significant amounts of military gear and other assistance to Ukraine’s war effort, with Washington spending tens of billions to furnish the country with heavy artillery, drones, helicopters, armored vehicles, ammunition, and small arms, among other weapons. Putin apologizes for Russian envoy’s ‘Jewish Hitler’ comments, Bennett’s office says

In a phone call Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin apologized to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett for incendiary comments made by the Kremlin’s top envoy earlier this week, the prime minister’s office said.

The comments by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claiming that Adolf Hitler had “Jewish blood,” and the following back-and-forth between Israel and Russia, marked the worst flare-up between the countries since Russia invaded Ukraine.

“The prime minister accepted the apology of President Putin for comments by Lavrov and thanked him for clarifying the president’s view of the Jewish people and the memory of the Holocaust,” Bennett’s office said.

The Kremlin said Putin spoke with Bennett about “historic memory,” the Holocaust and the situation in Ukraine, without mentioning an apology.

Bennett also requested Putin “examine humanitarian options” for evacuating the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. “The request came following Bennett’s conversation with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, yesterday,” Bennett’s office said.

Putin said Russian forces will allow the evacuation of civilians, the prime minister’s office said.

Earlier Thursday, Putin sent a message to President Isaac Herzog to “congratulate” him on Israel’s Independence Day.

“I am confident that Russian-Israeli relations based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect will continue to develop for the benefit of our peoples and in favor of strengthening peace and security in the Middle East,” Putin said, according to Herzog’s office.

In their call, Bennett thanked Putin for his Independence Day good wishes.

Channel 12 reported that Bennett had called Putin, and the Russian leader initiated the apology.

Ties between Israel and Russia soured following a claim by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Adolf Hitler had Jewish heritage, in an attempt to explain Moscow’s attempts to “de-Nazify” Ukraine, whose president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is Jewish.

Israel — along with many Western nations — harshly criticized Lavrov for comments made on Sunday claiming that “Hitler also had Jewish blood” and that “some of the worst antisemites are Jews.”

Lavrov made the remarks in an interview with an Italian news outlet while attempting to justify the oft-repeated Russian talking point that it invaded Ukraine in an effort to “de-Nazify” a country led by a Jewish president.

Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Monday for a discussion on the comments, which Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called “unforgivable.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry then doubled down on the claims Tuesday in a statement that accused Lapid of making “anti-historical statements” that “largely explain why the current Israeli government supports the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv.”

High Court greenlights expulsion of 1,300 Palestinians from army firing zone

In unanimous decision, justices back the army after 20 years of legal wrangling, rejecting Palestinians’ arguments that they lived in area before it became a training zone

Israel’s High Court ruled late Wednesday night that the Israeli army could evict around 1,300 Palestinians living in eight villages in the South Hebron Hills, after a legal battle lasting more than 20 years.

In a unanimous decision, Justice David Mintz wrote that the Palestinian petitioners had not successfully proved they had lived in the villages as permanent residents before the army declared the area a training zone in the area in the early 1980s.

The Palestinians have maintained that their presence in the villages goes back decades. The Israeli army, by contrast, argued that they had occasionally entered the area during seasonal migration — meaning they had no rights to the land.

Palestinians living in the firing zone’s eight villages — who can now be legally expelled — slammed the decision.

“This is the final proof for us that there is no justice to be sought for Palestinians in Israeli courts. There’s only justice for Jews,” said Nidal Younes, 64, who directs an unofficial local council of the Palestinian villages.

Former Putin adviser Anatoly Chubais fled to Israel - report

Chubais fled Russia in March after opposing Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

Former Russian climate envoy Anatoly Chubais, who resigned and fled Russia in March in opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, reportedly arrived in Israel on Wednesday.

Ostorozhno Novosti, a Telegram news channel run by Ksenia Sobchak who recently moved to Israel, reported that Chubais was spotted arriving at Ben-Gurion Airport on Wednesday with his wife, Avdotya Smirnova. Chubais' mother was Jewish.

The Telegram post included photos showing a man suspected of being Chubais.

On Thursday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the Kremlin has "neither the ability nor the desire to follow the fate of Anatoly Chubais," according to TASS. "It is known that he is abroad. He does not work for us," said Peskov.

TASS reported in late April that Chubais was in Italy after traveling via Turkey and did not plan to return to Russia to testify in the case of theft of property from him worth 70 million rubles.

On March 25, Putin signed a decree dismissing Chubais from his post as climate envoy. Chubais was not considered a civil servant and was not part of the staff of the Kremlin administration.

Bloomberg reported in March that Chubais left in opposition to Putin's invasion of Ukraine, citing two people familiar with the matter. Chubais at the time was the highest-level official to oppose the Kremlin on the invasion.

Alexei Navalny’s spokesperson Kira Yarmysh rejected reports that Chubais had left in opposition to the invasion of Ukraine, saying in a tweet that Chubais left Russia "only out of fear for his own skin and his own money."

Chubai was instrumental in rapidly privatizing Russia's economy in the 1990s and served as deputy prime minister for economic and financial policy from 1994 to 1996.

Three German fugitives arrested in Spain for providing shadow banking system to criminals

With the support of Europol’s Financial and Economic Crime Centre (EFECC), the Spanish Civil Guarda (Guardia Civil), together with the German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) and the Police Headquarters Heilbronn (Polizeipräsidium Heilbronn), have broken up a money laundering ring which was operating a parallel banking system for criminals.

Three individuals have been arrested as the result of an action day in Malaga, Spain, on 30 March, the details of which can only be released now due to operational reasons. All three suspects have been on the run from the German authorities since 2021. The criminal organisation’s ringleader – a German national of Russian origin – features among those arrested.

The suspects are believed to have run a shadow banking system which processed hundreds of millions of euros of criminal transactions isolated from any oversight mechanisms governing the legal financial system.

The criminals moved around large amounts of cash through this parallel system, helping criminals launder their illegal proceeds and fund their activities mainly linked to drug trafficking. The ringleader of this criminal network would negotiate commissions of up to 5 % for every million euros managed, with profits estimated at more than EUR 250 000 per day.

Europol’s EFECC supported the investigation by providing its secure communication platform and facilitating international cooperation between Spain and Germany, running cross-checks and providing analytical support and operational expertise. A Europol mobile office was also deployed to Malaga to assist the Spanish authorities with the action day.

Mali Official: French Army Trying to Conceal Mass Graves

In April, the Malian army reportedly discovered bodies buried near the former French military base in Gossi.

The French Army is trying to hide the mass graves in Mali, for which it is responsible, Abubakar Sidiki Fomba, a member of the National Transitional Council of Mali, told Sputnik.

Senate Democrats tee up vote to codify abortion law with long-shot odds of getting 60 votes to pass

This would be the second time this year that Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has forced a vote on the issue.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced a plan Thursday to force a vote on legislation that would codify Roe v. Wade – following the release earlier this week of a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion indicating justices may soon overturn the high-court's decades-old abortion-related ruling.

The legislation will almost certainly not pass in the vote set for next week because it needs 60 "yeahs" to advance, considering only 50 of the upper chamber's 100 members are Democrats.

However, Democrats, who have a 51-member majority when including Vice President Kamala Harris, can force a vote that will put Republicans on record about their opposition to the longstanding precedent on abortion rights resulting from the high court's 1973 ruling.

"Next week the U.S. Senate is going to vote on legislation to codify a woman’s right to seek abortion into federal law," Schumer said Thursday on the Senate floor.

The New York Democrat intends to set up the bill Monday with an aim for an initial vote on Wednesday.

Critics of the Roe v. Wade ruling argue that Congress, by vote and as representatives of the people, not the Judiciary, should determine whether women have a constitutional right to abortion as put forth in high court's 1973 ruling.

Schumer earlier this year forced a vote on the issue that ended in a 46-48 tally, with Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., voting with Senate Republicans.

The new legislation has been amended in slight ways, primarily striking a non-binding "findings" section from the bill.

Manchin says that he has yet to see the revised version.

Schumer says his Republican colleagues have largely remained silent on the prospect of Roe v. Wade being overturned and have instead focused their attention on the unprecedented nature of the leak, which is related to a Mississippi abortion case before the high court – whose ruling, likely in June, is expected to keep, reverse or partially reverse Roe v. Wade.

"All week we’ve been seeing Republicans try to duck, dodge and dip from their responsibility for bringing Roe to the brink of total repeal," Schumer said.

"Next week the American people will see crystal clear that when given the chance to right this wrong, the Republican Party will either side with the extremists who want to ban abortion without exceptions or side with women, with families and with the vast majority of Americans."

The World Health Organization said Thursday that nearly 15 million people were killed either by COVID-19 or by its impact on overwhelmed health systems during the first two years of the pandemic, more than double the official death toll of over 6 million.

Most of the deaths occurred in Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas, according to the WHO report reviewed by the Associated Press.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the United Nation-led health organization, called the new, estimated death count "sobering."

He also said the new estimate should prompt countries to invest more in preparation for future health emergencies.

WHO asked scientists to determine the actual number of COVID deaths from January 2020 to the end of 20212, also according to the wire service.

The estimated total number of deaths reportedly ranged from 13.3 million to 16.6 million.

One example of people dying by related factors would be cancer patients not being able to get treatment when hospitals were packed with COVID patients.
