I get tired out out of context crap. The South wanted more representation in congress by counting slaves as fully human but not giving them the vote.

As such, slave holders would have had a much more disproportionate representation. The North, which opposed slavery said that the southern slave holders should not get such an advantage and the slave should not be counted at all for representation.

The compromise was that the slaves would be counted as 3/5.

Out of context it sounds as if the article was racist when in fact it is the result of opposing slavery.
