Rabbis Chastise Museum of Jewish Heritage for Banning DeSantis

May 6, 2022

Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 2,000 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in matters of American public policy, today castigated New York City’s Museum of Jewish Heritage for banning Florida Governor Ron DeSantis from speaking at the Museum as part of an upcoming event. The CJV rabbis criticized the Museum for using language of inclusivity to “demonize and exclude,” and politicizing a memorial to the Holocaust.

“It is hard to see this decision as anything but politically-motivated, and directly contrary to Jewish interests as well” said CJV Southern Regional Vice President Rabbi Moshe B. Parnes. “As a Floridian and a rabbi, I can say thatone would be hard-pressed to find an elected official more attentive to the Jewish community than Ron DeSantis. He also believes that parents should be the primary decision makers in the education and upbringing of children, not government officials, and that is what has made him a target of cancel culture. It is not merely true that Judaism also regards education as a parental obligation, but that the alternative is profoundly dangerous. In the long history of the Jewish people, we have sadly seen, time and time again, that government control of education is universally harmful to our children.”

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, the organizers of the conference pointed out that the Museum had previously hosted other politicians as speakers. These included then-candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose candidacy was sponsored by the openly-antisemitic Democratic Socialists of America, and who had herself described defense of Jewish lives against a genocidal terror organization, Hamas, as a “massacre” of the hostile invaders.

“Long before progressives started to use the term ‘woke,’ leftists in theJewish community adopted ‘tikkun olam,’ ‘fixing the world,’ ripping it entirely out of context as a synonym for so-called ‘social justice,’ said Rabbi Avrohom Gordimer, Chairman of CJV’s Rabbinic Circle. “Inverting the meaning of ‘inclusivity’ to demonize and exclude is another example of that same abuse of language. The Jewish heritage is one of free and open discourse, and holding ideas up to the light of critical examination. We should expect better from an institution called the Museum of Jewish Heritage.”

The aggressive rage of pro-abortion advocates over the past week, and the plans of anti-Catholic zealots to disrupt Catholic masses this weekend, is a vile attempt to harass, threaten, and intimidate. It is religious bigotry of the worst kind. It is also against the law.

12:14 PM · May 6, 2022·Twitter for iPhone

Yet these threats to the safety of Catholic pastors and parishioners have been met with astunning silence from our Catholic President. Silence is not an option. President Biden must make clear that the targeting of Catholic churches is indefensible and against the law.

Attorney General Merrick Garland must make clear that acting on these plans would violate the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. The AG has an obligation to alert every U.S. Attorney across the country and remind them of the law and their duty to enforce it.

No religious believer in America should fear for their safety while attending church this Sunday, or any day. We once again call on all leaders in Washington to condemn and stop these dangerous threats before they result in violence. Statement by CV President Brian Burch.

maybe they will finally realize he's not Catholic and kick him out of the church.

‘Pretty Gross’: How a Network of Retired Lawmakers Boosts CCP Influence in Washington

Chuck Ross • May 6, 2022 5:01 am

As Beltway institutions cut ties with Chinese Communist Party front groups, a group of former congressmen has kept a close relationship with a think tank that oversees Beijing’s foreign influence efforts.

The Association of Former Members of Congress, a networking hub for former lawmakers, has hosted multiple events since 2020 for the China-United States Exchange Foundation, the CCP’s leading foreign influence think tank. The Exchange Foundation sponsors the association’s annual awards gala, which will be held next month, and it has worked hand-in-glove with theExchange Foundation’s lobbyistto host policy events where pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong have been blamed on "foreign forces" and the United States has been accused of directing "vitriol" toward China.

"It’s really murky and pretty gross," said Dylan Hedtler–Gaudette, government affairs manager at the Project on Government Oversight, a nonpartisan transparency group. Hedtler-Gaudette says the overlapping ties betweenCapitol Counsel, the Exchange Foundation, and the Association of Former Members of Congress constitute a "shadow lobbying operation."

The arrangement shows the extent of the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda operation in the United States. It also highlights a type of influence peddling prevalent in Washington, where consulting firms work with think tanks and nonprofit organizations on behalf of corporate clients and foreign entities, often without disclosing the connections.

Since launching in 2008, the Exchange Foundation has donated heavily to American universities, think tanks, and nonprofit organizations to access their spheres of influence. The group has come under scrutiny in recent years over its involvement in the Chinese Communist Party’s "united front" system, which Beijing uses to wield influence overseas. CIA director William Burns said he cut ties with the Exchange Foundation when he served as president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace because of the group’s aggressive efforts to influence American views toward China.

The Association of Former Members of Congress, which boasts ties to more than 200 sitting members of Congress and senior staffers, is one of the few Beltway organizations that maintains a relationship with the Exchange Foundation. The group has hosted or taken part in at least eight policy discussions with the Exchange Foundation since 2020, according to a review by the Washington Free Beacon.

For John Dotson, a China-watcher at the Global Taiwan Institute, the Exchange Foundation has displayed a "continued pattern" of lobbying to access Beltway power centers. The think tank once worked withDemocratic lobbyist Tony Podestaand sponsored research at the think tank his brother John founded, the Center for American Progress. Dotson has written before about the Exchange Foundation’s "lobby laundering," including its work with the Podesta Group and Capitol Counsel.

Founded by Democratic lobbyist John Raffaelli, Capitol Counsel has represented the Exchange Foundation since 2014. Capitol Counsel’s filings under the Foreign Agents Registration Act show it agreed to facilitate "coalition building" with the Association of Former Members of Congress on behalf of the Exchange Foundation. Capitol Counsel lobbyist Martin Gold has hosted policy discussions at the association on behalf of the Exchange Foundation about a controversial national security law in Hong Kong, the state of U.S.-Chinese economic relations in the wake of COVID-19, and a discussion of the summit between President Joe Biden and Chinese president Xi Jinping….

…The overlapping financial interests between Capitol Counsel, the Exchange Foundation, and the Association of Former Members of Congress are not always made clear at events…..

The lack of disclosures about the financial relationship leaves consumers of the association's events in the dark about who is funding the events, said Hedtler-Gaudette of the Project on Government Oversight.

"It’s not good that all these former members of Congress are involved in this way, but aren’t captured in a disclosure framework," Hedtler-Gaudette told the Free Beacon.

The Kavanaugh Circus Continues, More Dangerous Than Ever

By: Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino May 06, 2022

When Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority opinion for the Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked to the news media, it came as a shock. How could such a thing happen? Are the norms that keep our government together unraveling? For those who have followed the Supreme Court over the last several years, there is unfortunately more continuity to outrageous behavior than is often recognized.

Immediately after the leak, we learned that the sort of left-wing dark money groups that brought the Supreme Court confirmation process to new lows with their antics with Justice Kavanaugh’s hearings are at it again. An outfit calling itself “Ruth Sent Us” has posted a map with the home addresses of what it calls “the six extremist justices” and organized protests next week at their personal homes. The radical left is now doxxing Supreme Court justices.

The Left’s Radical Tactics

Do you remember the circus of obstruction and vilification that the left inflicted on the nation in opposition to Brett Kavanaugh’s 2018 nomination? We documented it in our book, “Justice on Trial.” Protesters funded by dark-money groups, including Planned Parenthood, shouting down the Senate Judiciary Committee and having to be dragged out by police, with over 200 arrests? Protesters dressed like handmaids converging on Capitol Hill to communicate that Kavanaugh’s confirmation would hurl America into a dark dystopia?

And how about the Democratic senators who went along, waging scurrilous arguments to try to delegitimize the nominee from the outset and interrupting their own hearings on the Senate Judiciary Committee 63 times before the first lunch break? The Senate’s final vote on the nomination was taken amid repeated interruptions from yet another brigade of protesters — who had to be taken out of the Senate gallery by U.S. Capitol Police. Other protesters crossed police lines at the Capitol Building or stormed up the steps of the Supreme Court to pound on its doors. 164 arrests resulted.

Once Kavanaugh officially joined the Court, he did not make the traditional walk down the marble steps of the Court out of concern for his safety.

The left failed to defeat Kavanaugh in 2018, but they did not shed their radicalism — they only got more strident.

Who Funds ‘Ruth Sent Us’?

There are a number of unanswered questions about the Ruth Sent Us group. Its website notes, “Stipends [are] available” for protestors. Who exactly is paying for these stipends? Recall that during the Kavanaugh hearings, left-wing groups also provided financial incentives for protestors, including offering lodging to traveling protesters and “jail and bail support” if necessary.

The website links to a different organization, Strike for Choice, which shows connections to groups including Black Lives Matter, Code Pink, Women’s March SF, Kavanaugh Off Our Court, and Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights. How exactly are these groups connected?

Will groups likeDemand Justicecondemn these protests at justices’ homes? So far, they have been silent. What about Demand Justice board member Elie Mystal, who called the Constitution “kind of trash?” Demand Justice’s executive director Brian Fallon has instead criticized the increased security measures being taken at the Supreme Court itself, stating that the Court “needs more accountability, not less.” Sounds a lot like Psaki yesterday.

We don’t know if Ruth Sent Us is also funded by groups in the expansive Arabella network because they have yet to disclose their donors but it certainly resembles the kind of pop-up groups that Arabella is known for.

. Even the handmaids are going to be making a return. In these days before whatever they have planned for the justices’ homes, they are already disrupting Catholic churches.

It is as if there is no institution left in American society that leftists are not willing to destroy if they think that is what they need to do to achieve their policy goals.

Get ready for the next iteration of the Kavanaugh circus. Indeed, protecting Roe is what that circus was about in the first place. Now, withRoe itself facing its imminent demise, the left has made itself more dangerous than ever before.

Long but excellent and important article to share

Many of today’s children are ignorant, sad, and set up for failure. They lack the knowledge and skills to perform basic tasks. They are lonely and suffer from depression and anxiety. Also, as Mark Bauerlein explains in his book “The Dumbest Generation Grows Up,” they are incredibly immature.

The reasons for this are not a mystery. One top answer is actually incredibly simple: screens. Instead of learning about their world and participating in it, the majority of young people are glued to their devices, playing video games, scrolling through social media, and streaming videos.

This past year, American teens and pre-teens spent an average of nine hours per day in front of a screen. That means they spend almost twice as much waking life looking at illuminated pixels than they do at physical objects and people.

As I’ve argued before, tablets and smartphones have radically transformed the school experience from what it used to be. Those who taught before screens wouldn’t even recognize today’s classrooms, and those who taught afterward wouldn’t even believe what students of the past were capable of without the help of technology.

Screens Crept In and Now They’re Everywhere
