Pentagon Denies Helping Ukraine Sink Moskva After Series Of Intel-Sharing Reports

The Pentagon on Friday denied that it provided Ukrainian forces with intelligence that led to the sinking of the Russian Black Sea warship Moskva, which was struck reportedly by Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missiles on April 14 and marked the most disastrous single Russian loss to date.

"We did not provide Ukraine with specific targeting information for the Moskva," Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a statement, following the night prior NBC cited US officials who said that intelligence-sharing led to the missile cruiser's sinking.

He added: "We were not involved in the Ukrainians' decision to strike the ship or in the operation they carried out," and that, "We had no prior knowledge of Ukraine's intent to target the ship. The Ukrainians have their own intelligence capabilities to track and target Russian naval vessels, as they did in this case."

He was responding to questions generated by a number of major reports in The New York Times and NBC News over the last couple days. These have included anonymous senior US officials telling the press that robust US intelligence sharing efforts with the Ukrainians have led to significant battlefield losses for the Russians.

First, a Wednesday NYT report claimed that intelligence sharing with the Ukrainians had helped take out some of the estimated 12 Russian generals that have died on the front lines since the Feb.24 invasion.

The New York Times reported that "The United States has focused on providing the location and other details about the Russian military’s mobile headquarters, which relocate frequently." Additionally, "Ukrainian officials have combined that geographic information with their own intelligence — including intercepted communications that alert the Ukrainian military to the presence of senior Russian officers — to conduct artillery strikes and other attacks that have killed Russian officers."

Following this, on Thursday night an even more significant bombshell was issued by NBC, wherein defense or intelligence officials were quoted as saying the operation which led to the sinking of the Russian Black Sea flagship Moskva had assistance from US intelligence.

"The attack happened after Ukrainian forces asked the Americans about a ship sailing in the Black Sea south of Odesa, U.S. officials told NBC News," the report indicated. "The U.S. identified it as the Moskva, officials said, and helped confirm its location, after which the Ukrainians targeted the ship."

Either Kirby is parsing his words very carefully in a 'plausible deniability' type way (for example: hinging on precise definition of "specific targeting information" etc), or it could be that it wasn't US military intelligence per se that was involved… as in the Central Intelligence Agency was possibly behind it, making it not under the purview of the Department of Defense/Pentagon.

CCP Orders Government Agencies, State-Controlled Firms To Dump Foreign PCs & Software

Although it has been overshadowed by the conflict in Ukraine, the rift between the US and China has remained during the Biden Administration (as the White House has continued to supply arms to Taiwan in defiance of Beijing's demands that no foreign entities interfere).

So, in the latest demonstration of distrust, Beijing has ordered all government agencies and state-controlled corporations (which is to say, most companies in China) to dump all foreign-branded PCs, and replace them with Chinese-made products. What's more, the new PCs must run on operating systems developed domestically, according to the order.

Staff were asked after the week-long May break to turn in foreign PCs for local alternatives that run on operating software developed domestically, people familiar with the plan said. The exercise, which was mandated by central government authorities, is likely to eventually replace at least 50 million PCs on a central-government level alone, they said, asking to remain anonymous discussing a sensitive matter.

The decision advances China’s decade-long campaign to replace imported technology with local alternatives, a sweeping effort to reduce its dependence on geopolitical rivals such as the U.S. for everything from semiconductors to servers and phones. It’s likely to directly affect sales by HP Inc. and Dell Technologies Inc., the country’s biggest PC brands after local champion Lenovo Group Ltd.

Chinese laptop and software stocks rallied on the news. Lenovo (now owned by a Chinese entity after being bought years ago from IBM) erased losses to climb as much as 5% on Friday in Hong Kong, while software developer Kingsoft gained 3.3% on the news, erasing earlier losses.

On mainland Chinese exchanges, server maker Inspur gained 6% while peer Dawning Information Industry jumped more than 4%. Inspur Software, an affiliate of the Inspur group, and China National Software & Service, both soared their daily 10% limits.

This policy of replacing foreign software and hardware with domestic alternatives is nothing new for the Chinese, but the effort intensified after the Trump Administration hamstrung Huawei with a raft of sanctions and the Commerce Department 'blacklist'.

But the initiative accelerated after 2021 when the Chinese central government quietly empowered a government-backed organization to vet and approve local suppliers, blocking foreign vendors from sensitive high-tech industries from the cloud to semiconductors.

Fortunately for the Chinese, many of the world’s biggest laptop and server makers today include domestic firms, including Lenovo, Huawei and Inspur, while local developers such as Kingsoft and Standard Software have made rapid strides in office software against the likes of Microsoft and Adobe.

A major explosion ripped through Havana’s Saratoga Hotel on Friday, destroying multiple floors of the building. So far, the cause of the blast remains unclear and there are no estimates of casualties.

The blast happened at around 11am local time, with witnesses telling local media the explosion "sounded like a bomb."

The hotel is located directly across from Cuba's National Capitol Building, the seat of the country's parliament.

Hundreds of bystanders have gathered on the streets as police and rescue crews begin searching the rubble for survivors.

One witness told CNN Brasil that the hotel, which is one of the most popular in the city, was almost empty due to the pandemic. Some reports suggested a school across the street from the hotel was evacuated following the explosion.

The hotel's website describes it as a luxury hotel located in the historic center of Havana, with 96 rooms, two bars, two restaurants, a spa and gym. The building was originally built in 1880 and remodeled as a hotel in 1933.

Russian Oil Ban Will Be Like "Dropping Atomic Bomb On Hungary's Economy": Orban

Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has again loudly expressed his country's firm rejection of the proposed EU ban on the import of all Russia oil currently being mulled by the European Commission, saying that it would be like an atomic bomb was dropped on the economy.

He said bluntly during an interview with a public national broadcaster that it would be like "dropping a nuclear bomb on the Hungarian economy".

"We cannot accept a proposal that ignores this," Orbán again stressed, while also saying his government would remain "happy to negotiate" a compromise that would take into serious account Hungary's demands.

The trio of Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic now constitute a significant obstacle to a Russian oil ban as the question of the European Commission granting exemptions is front and center. Bulgaria has become the latest country to propose that exemptions be given.

Some countries are also asking for more time to find alternative supplies, possibly even three to five years before a ban takes effect - despite it being possible that the war could long be over by that point.

Orbán too, said that Hungary "would need four to five years to revamp its energy system and become independent from Russian oil," as summarized of his latest interview comments. Writes Euronews, "He noted that, while other EU states can bring additional crude barrels through their ports, Hungary, a landlocked country, lacks that alternative path."

Thus it's clear at this point that a growing list of countries, led by the example of the outspoken Hungarian leader, are less than eager to take up Ursula von der Leyen's call to make 'sacrifices' for the sake of punishing Russia and Putin over the Ukraine invasion:

The costs to the EU would be high, von der Leyen said, but added it was a step worth taking to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

"Let us be clear: it will not be easy. Some member states are strongly dependent on Russian oil. But we simply have to work on it," the she told the European Parliament.

Earlier in the week, Czech prime minister Petr Fiala explained of his country's desire for an exemption: "We are ready to support this decision under the condition that the Czech Republic will be able to delay its implementation until the capacity of oil pipelines leading into the Czech Republic is increased."

However, we doubt Putin's wartime strategy-making will be much impacted if there's a two-to-three-year or even five year transition period before an oil ban takes effect, which is precisely what the Czech Republic and others, with Hungary at the helm, are now proposing.

Peer-Reviewed MIT Study Finds ‘Significant Association’ Between Covid Jab and Cardiac Arrest

A study published last week in the Nature Journal Scientific Reports, conducted by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Ben Gurion University in Israel raises grave concerns over mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations worldwide. Researchers found that the COVID-19 vaccination significantly increased cardiac complications for young adults aged 16-39.

Researchers set out to find if there was a difference between cardiovascular adverse outcomes such as blood clotting (e.g., coronary artery thrombosis), acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrest and myocarditis caused by a COVID-19 infection versus an adverse reaction to one of the multiple COVID-19 vaccines currently in use.

The authors cited the increased reports of adverse events in in multiple reporting systems including the Vaccine Adverse events Reporting System (VAERS) in the United States (US), the Yellow Card System in the United Kingdom, and the EudraVigilance system in Europe. What they found should give pause to anyone who advocates for the forced vaccination of others.

“While not establishing causal relationships, the findings raise concerns regarding vaccine-induced undetected severe cardiovascular side-effects and underscore the already established causal relationship between vaccines and myocarditis, a frequent cause of unexpected cardiac arrest in young individuals,” researchers wrote. “Surveillance of potential vaccine side-effects and COVID-19 outcomes should incorporate EMS and other health data to identify public health trends (e.g., increased in EMS calls), and promptly investigate potential underlying causes.”

One of the main talking points about the observed increase in cardiovascular adverse outcomes during the pandemic was that they were solely due to COVID-19 and not due to the jabs at all. But this study dispels that point and found even though cardiac arrests did surge when they compared 2019 to 2020, they still observed a statistically significant association with the vaccine.

“The main finding of this study concerns with increases of over 25% in both the number of CA (cardiac arrest) calls and ACS (acute cardiac syndrome) calls of people in the 16–39 age group during the COVID-19 vaccination rollout in Israel (January–May, 2021), compared with the same period of time in prior years (2019 and 2020).

According to the study, researchers did not find an increase in cardiac complications from COVID-19 alone, writing that “At the same time there is no observed statistically significant association between COVID-19 infection rates and the CA and ACS call counts.”

Dabo Swinney’s brother arrested on child pornography charges

Legendary Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney’s brother was arrested on child pornography charges recently.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s office announced Thursday that Henry Ervil Swinney III was taken into custody alongside two other men on April 23 in a child sexual exploitation investigation. Swinney is accused of distributing child sex abuse material and is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities were tipped off after a call from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children began an investigation. Henry Swinney allegedly shared and distributed the material through a “mega” file sharing link, per his arrest warrant.

Dabo Swinney has been the head coach of the Tigers since 2008. During his tenure so far, he has led Clemson to national championships in 2017 and 2019. Dabo Swinney only trails Frank Howard for most wins by a head coach in school history.

Clemson nor Dabo Swinney have publicly commented on Henry Swinney’s arrest.

Some of Musk’s institutional sponsors are hardly connected to free speech warriors. In fact, quite the opposite.

Chinese Communist Party-linked companies and investment funds are listed amongst the financiers of Elon Musk’s bid to purchase Twitter, a new Securities and Exchange Commission document reveals.

The revelation comes from a May 4th amendment filed by Musk which shows over one dozen equity investors – either people or companies funding his purchase in exchange for a share of ownership – in Twitter.

“Each Equity Investor listed in the following table has committed to contribute to Parent […] cash in the amount set forth opposite such Equity Investor’s name in the following table in order to fund a portion of the Merger Consideration contemplated by the Merger Agreement,” explains the document before revealing the following investors:

Among the companies providing billions in investment is the Chinese Communist Party-linked cryptocurrency exchange platform Binance, whose aggregate equity commitment totals $500,000,000.

Founded by Changpeng Zhao, a Chinese-Canadian business executive, Binance retains partnerships with Chinese state-owned entities, as revealed in a 2020 press release:

Jailed Indiana GOP candidate, charged with killing wife, wins primary election

An Indiana man accused of murdering his cancer-stricken wife won a township board primary election while in jail for the brutal slaying.

Andrew Wilhoite — who was charged in March with murdering 41-year-old Elizabeth “Nikki” Wilhoite, allegedly using a concrete flower pot — is one of three Republicans who secured a spot Tuesday in November’s election for the Clinton Township Board, the Indianapolis Star reported.

Wilhoite, 40, of Lebanon, has been in custody at the Boone County Jail since he told investigators he threw the flower pot at his wife’s head and dumped her body over the side of a bridge. He’s next due in court on May 27, according to the newspaper.

The township board consists of three members and only three candidates entered the Republican field, while no one filed to run on the Democratic ticket. Wilhoite garnered 60 votes, compared to his competitors’ 110 and 106 votes, stats cited by the newspaper show.

Anyone facing felony charges can still run for local office, but they become ineligible upon conviction, state election officials told the newspaper.

“Under our legal system, every person is innocent until proven guilty,” said Brad King, co-director of the Indiana Election Division. “If a candidate is ultimately convicted, then depending upon the timing of that conviction, the person can be replaced on the ballot by the political party that has a vacancy.”

But King noted there’s no law barring anyone who is jailed ahead of trial from “exercising the duties of their office” if they get elected.

Pelosi Orders Minimum Pay Boost for House Aides to $45,000

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced on May 6 that she is ordering the minimum salary to be paid to congressional aides in the lower chamber of Congress to be increased to $45,000.

“I am pleased to announce that … the House will for the first time ever set the minimum annual pay for staff at $45,000.

The deadline to implement the new pay order is Sept. 1, 2022, Pelosi said in a “Dear Colleague” letter to all 435 Members of the House of Representatives.

“With a competitive minimum salary, the House will better be able to retain and recruit excellent, diverse talent. Doing so will open the doors to public service for those who may not have been able to afford to do so in the past.

“This is also an issue of fairness, as many of the youngest staffers working the longest hours often earn the lowest salaries,” Pelosi said.

“The government funding legislation enacted in March included a 21 percent increase in the Members’ Representational Allowance (MRA) for each office, which will more than cover this pay adjustment. It is highly encouraged that Members use this MRA increase to honor the committed work of your staff members,” she continued.

People Can Still Get J&J Vaccine If They Have a Problem With Other Two Shots: White House

People who, for whatever reason, do not want to get a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine can still get the Johnson & Johnson shot, a top White House health official said on May 6.

“If you have a problem with one of those two vaccines, then Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is still an option for you,” said Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House COVID-19 coordinator.

He described the J&J vaccine as “high-quality” and “very good.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) a day earlier said it “limited the authorized use” of the J&J shot because of the risk of potentially fatal blood clots.

But the actual emergency use authorization, which enables people to get the vaccine, was not altered at all.

In updated fact sheets to health care providers and recipients, the agency emphasized that the vaccine can cause the clots, known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, within approximately two weeks of vaccination.

Pompeo Raises ‘National Security Concerns’ About Trump-Backed Dr. Oz

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke Friday on the “national security concerns” he had about Republican Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz.

“[Dr. Oz] engaged in the Turkish political process. That raises, in my mind, lots of judgments about his priorities,” Pompeo said in a phone call to reporters.

Oz maintains Turkish citizenship and cast a ballot in the country’s 2018 presidential election, ABC News reported. He had previously said he has “never been politically involved in Turkey in any capacity.”

Pompeo, who is backing David McCormick, former U.S. under secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs and CEO of Bridgewater Associates, said his reservations with Oz were “separate and apart from politics.”

“These are pathetic and xenophobic attacks on Dr. Oz by David McCormick, who should be ashamed of himself. Now that he lost President Trump’s endorsement, he’s resorted to sad and desperate attacks that are no different than the tropes used against Catholics and Jews,” Brittany Yanick, an Oz campaign spokesperson, told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement.

“Dr. Oz has already said when elected to the Senate he would renounce his citizenship. There is no security issue whatsoever, and David McCormick knows that Dr. Oz has maintained his dual citizenship to make it easier to help care for his mother who has Alzheimer’s and lives there,” she said.

Gunmen Kidnap, Kill Journalist in Western Mexico—10th in 2022

Gunmen kidnapped and killed a well-respected journalist in western Mexico and later left his body in a rural area wrapped in plastic. The murder marks the 10th of its kind in 2022 and 34th during President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador first term of office.

On Thursday morning, authorities in Sinaloa recovered a body wrapped in plastic and identified the victim was Luis Enrique Ramirez Ramos. He was kidnapped Wednesday from a convenience store in Culiacan.

According to Rio Doce, at the convenience store, the gunmen and Ramirez had a verbal altercation which led to gunfire. At the store, authorities found bloodstains and Ramirez’s shoe.

On Thursday afternoon, Sinaloa Attorney General Sara Bruna Quinones Estrada confirmed the body found was Ramirez.

Ramirez founded and ran Fuentes Fidedignas and had previously worked for well-known newspapers such as El Universal, Jornada, Debate, and Milenio, Rio Doce reported.

The murder comes at a time when Mexico’s government draws international criticism for the irregular number of media workers murdered with impunity. Mexico’s president has rebuffed the criticisms, calling them “interventionism.” Though press freedom organizations keep different statistics with some only counting nine murders so far this year, all agree that Mexico is one of the deadliest countries in the world for journalists to practice.

COVID-19 vaccines more likely to kill people than save lives, research reveals

Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that there have been over one million excess deaths recorded since the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic started two years ago. Excess deaths refer to deaths in excess of historical average.

Reported deaths during that time were caused by heart disease, high blood pressure, dementia and many other diseases that are not associated with SARS-CoV-2. Researchers from the University of Warwick said that “the scale of excess non-COVID deaths is large enough for it to be seen as its own pandemic.”

Across the globe, the rise of death rates coincide with the vaccine rollout that started in December 2020. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 are consistently higher in areas with high vaccination rates. “We’ve never seen anything like it,” Robert Anderson, CDC’s head of mortality statistics, told the Washington Post in mid-February.

The vaccines are not preventing infections, either. Walgreens data shows that during the week of April 19 to 25, only 13 percent of unvaccinated tested positive for COVID-19. In comparison, 23.1 percent of those who received two doses and 26.3 percent of those who received a third dose at least five months ago have tested positive for the disease. WASHINGTON — The United States has provided intelligence about Russian units that has allowed Ukrainians to target and kill many of the Russian generals who have died in action in the Ukraine war, according to senior American officials.

Ukrainian officials said they have killed approximately 12 generals on the front lines, a number that has astonished military analysts.

The targeting help is part of a classified effort by the Biden administration to provide real-time battlefield intelligence to Ukraine. That intelligence also includes anticipated Russian troop movements gleaned from recent American assessments of Moscow’s secret battle plan for the fighting in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, the officials said. Officials declined to specify how many generals had been killed as a result of U.S. assistance.

The United States has focused on providing the location and other details about the Russian military’s mobile headquarters, which relocate frequently. Ukrainian officials have combined that geographic information with their own intelligence — including intercepted communications that alert the Ukrainian military to the presence of senior Russian officers — to conduct artillery strikes and other attacks that have killed Russian officers.

The story is obvious bullshit because there are only two Russian generals who have died so far during the Russian campaign in Ukraine.

Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky was killed on February 28 and Major General Vladimir Frolov was killed in early April. Both deaths were immediately officially acknowledged and reported in Russian media. Both men were buried with military honors.

All other 'killed Russian generals' are victims of the 'ghost of Kiev'. The Ukrainian propaganda apparatus likes such stories because it knows that 'western' media will pick up on them.

Russia does not hide the death of high officers. It is impossible to do so over longer periods as such men are known by many others. It would be bad for any government to get caught in such a scheme. There is also no reason to do so.

A South Carolina ex-banker was charged for the first time Wednesday alongside disgraced legal scion Alex Murdaugh and Murdaugh’s former college roommate and lawyer friend in connection to a money laundering scheme allegedly targeting a deaf quadriplegic man and his mother and cousin.

Russell Laffitte, fired as CEO of Palmetto State Bank in January, was named in three superseding indictments unveiled by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson also tacking on new charges for Murdaugh and former attorney and the godfather of one of Murdaugh’s sons, Cory Fleming.

It’s the first time 51-year-old Laffitte has been indicted in connection to the state grand jury’s investigation. He is charged with 21 counts for schemes to defraud victims of more than $1.8 million. One of the indictments alleges the ex-banker conspired to misappropriate to Murdaugh $309,581.46 in funds Laffitte held in trust as conservator for Hakeem L. Pinckney and his estate at Palmetto State Bank.

Zelensky turns to crowdfunding to help Ukraine defeat Russian invasion

‘Every donation matters for victory,’ Ukrainian president says as he announces launch of United24 platform; also indicates Kyiv will give daily updates on how money being spent

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday launched a global crowdfunding platform to help Kyiv win the war with Russia and rebuild the country’s infrastructure.

“In one click, you can donate funds to protect our defenders, to save our civilians and to rebuild Ukraine,” Zelensky said in English in a video on his Twitter page, launching the United24 platform, which can be found here: u24.gov.ua.

“Every donation matters for victory.”

Nine weeks into Russia’s invasion, Ukrainian cities have suffered vast destruction.

“All funds will be transferred to the national bank of Ukraine and allocated to the relevant ministries,” Zelensky said, indicating that his government would give an update “every 24 hours” about how the money was being used.

The Ukrainian leader called on ordinary people around the world to help Kyiv defeat Moscow.

“Only together we have the potential to stop the war and to rebuild what Russia has destroyed.” He said Ukraine will “always remember” their contributions.

It is not the first such fundraising effort launched by the Ukrainian government.

In mid-March, it launched an “Aid for Ukraine” website, found at donate.thedigital.gov.ua, in partnership with crypto-firms FTX and Everstake with all donations funneled to Ukraine’s central bank.

Offering donors the chance to give in 10 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, ether, tether and dogecoin, the campaign was an immediate hit with its official website tweeting on March 19: “Over $60M contributed, with $10M donated in a few days!”

Kyiv has received Western military aid, but its army remains far smaller than Russia’s.

Zelensky, 44, has addressed parliaments around the world on an almost daily basis, appealing for support amid Moscow’s attack.

One of the psychologists paid tens of millions of dollars by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency to oversee the interrogation of prisoners in the so-called War on Terror provided new details on Monday about the torture of a Guantánamo Bay detainee at CIA “black site” in Thailand.

The New York Times reports James E. Mitchell told a military judge during a pretrial hearing at Guantánamo that Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri – a Saudi national facing possible execution for allegedly masterminding the deadly 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen – broke quickly under torture and became so obedient that he would crawl into a cramped confinement box before guards ordered him to do so.

Initially, guards had to force al-Nashiri into the box. But according to Mitchell, the prisoner “liked being in the box” and would “get in and close it himself.”

Annie W. Morgan, a former Air Force defense attorney who is a member of al-Nashiri’s legal team, told the Times that when she heard Mitchell’s testimony, “I got the image of crate-training a dog and became nauseous.”

“That was the goal of the program, to create a sense of learned helplessness and to become completely dependent upon and submissive to his captors,” she added, referencing a tactic taught in UStorture programs and documents dating back to the 1950s.

Institute for Curriculum Services: How an Israel Lobby Group Infiltrated US Education

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA — In 2018, the Virginia Coalition for Human Rights (VCHR) successfully stopped the state from adopting textbook edits made by the Institute for Curriculum Services (ICS), a pro-Israel “educational” institution.

The ICS promotes itself as improving the accuracy of K-12 instruction on Judaism and Jewish history in the United States. Yet, backed by the Israel lobby, its strategy appears more in line with advocating a Zionist narrative than enhancing education.

Today, ICS boasts that it has helped better public education in all 50 states and impacted 11 million students across the country. With this in mind, MintPress News uncovered how ICS is twisting the truth about Israel in U.S. schools.

The fight in Virginia

In January 2018, Virginia activist Jeanne Trabulsi attended a Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) webinar featuring ICS. During the event, ICS Director Aliza Craimer Elias spoke about the nonprofit’s activity, specifically how it works with Jewish Community Relations Councils (JCRCs) to send revision requests to textbook review committees.

Following the webcast, the Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy (IRmep) sent a request to Virginia’s Department of Education, under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, for all documents submitted by ICS, JCPA and JCRCs. IRmep found that ICS-proposed edits were sent to the Virginia Department of Education on behalf of the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond and the JCRCs of Greater Washington, Richmond, and Tidewater.

Requested ICS changes to public school textbooks included:

Replace “settlers” with “communities,” “occupation” with “control of,” “wall” with “security fence,” “occupied territories” with “captured areas,” and “militant” with “terrorist.”

Discourage students from conducting open internet research, and instead recommend the Anti-Defamation League’s website and the JewishVirtualLibrary.org.

Delete all references to “Palestinian Territories.”

Change maps to recognize Israeli annexation of East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, instead of classifying these areas as occupied.

NATO approves nomination of US general Cavoli as allied commander in Europe

The North Atlantic Council approved the nomination of US Army General Christopher Cavoli as the military bloc’s supreme allied commander in Europe, NATO said in a statement released on Friday.

"The North Atlantic Council has approved the nomination of General Christopher G. Cavoli, United States Army, to the post of Supreme Allied Commander Europe," the statement reads.

Cavoli will take up this post in the summer of 2022 upon completion of national confirmation processes in each of the bloc’s member states to succeed another US general, Tod Wolters, NATO said.

The post of NATO’s supreme allied commander in Europe is traditionally assigned to US generals, since Washington has no intention to place its troops stationed in Europe under the command of the EU’s top military brass.

How a Network of Retired Lawmakers Boosts CCP Influence in Washington

As Beltway institutions cut ties with Chinese Communist Party front groups, a group of former congressmen has kept a close relationship with a think tank that oversees Beijing’s foreign influence efforts.

The Association of Former Members of Congress, a networking hub for former lawmakers, has hosted multiple events since 2020 for the China-United States Exchange Foundation, the CCP’s leading foreign influence think tank. The Exchange Foundation sponsors the association’s annual awards gala, which will be held next month, and it has worked hand-in-glove with the Exchange Foundation’s lobbyist to host policy events where pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong have been blamed on "foreign forces" and the United States has been accused of directing "vitriol" toward China.

"It’s really murky and pretty gross," said Dylan Hedtler–Gaudette, government affairs manager at the Project on Government Oversight, a nonpartisan transparency group. Hedtler-Gaudette says the overlapping ties between Capitol Counsel, the Exchange Foundation, and the Association of Former Members of Congress constitute a "shadow lobbying operation."

The arrangement shows the extent of the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda operation in the United States. It also highlights a type of influence peddling prevalent in Washington, where consulting firms work with think tanks and nonprofit organizations on behalf of corporate clients and foreign entities, often without disclosing the connections.

Since launching in 2008, the Exchange Foundation has donated heavily to American universities, think tanks, and nonprofit organizations to access their spheres of influence. The group has come under scrutiny in recent years over its involvement in the Chinese Communist Party’s "united front" system, which Beijing uses to wield influence overseas. CIA director William Burns said he cut ties with the Exchange Foundation when he served as president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace because of the group’s aggressive efforts to influence American views toward China.

The Association of Former Members of Congress, which boasts ties to more than 200 sitting members of Congress and senior staffers, is one of the few Beltway organizations that maintains a relationship with the Exchange Foundation. The group has hosted or taken part in at least eight policy discussions with the Exchange Foundation since 2020, according to a review by the Washington Free Beacon.

For John Dotson, a China-watcher at the Global Taiwan Institute, the Exchange Foundation has displayed a "continued pattern" of lobbying to access Beltway power centers. The think tank once worked with Democratic lobbyist Tony Podesta and sponsored research at the think tank his brother John founded, the Center for American Progress. Dotson has written before about the Exchange Foundation’s "lobby laundering," including its work with the Podesta Group and Capitol Counsel.

Israel is set to advance plans for 3,988 West Bank settler homes despite US objections, with the White House - according to N12 - sending a message against it to Israeli officials.

The White House message was conveyed in talks between at least three different American parties and senior Israeli officials in Israel. According to one source speaking with N12, the White House even conditioned President Joe Biden's visit to Israel next month on the issue of the plans for West Bank settler homes.

It's a move, however, that will likely shore up Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's fragile coalition in advance of the opening next of the Knesset's summer session. According to Walla, Israel explained this to the US.

The Biden Administration has been clear about its opposition to settlement activity, with US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides calling such construction "stupid" because it harms the two-state solution when he spoke at a virtual event with the left-wing Israeli group "Peace Now." But the Biden Administration and Nides have been very supportive of Bennett and his coalition which is made up of parties from the Left, Center and Right of the political map.

The Higher Planning Council for Judea and Samaria at its Thursday meeting is slated to give its final approval for 2,536 new settler homes, including the authorization of the Mitzpe Dani outpost as a new neighborhood of the Ma'aleh Mikhmas settlement, and allow for the deposit of plans for 1,452 other homes.

Ex-FBI intel chief: Clinton campaign used 'contrived disinformation' to deceive voters in 2016

"This is more than just political dirty tricks," says Kevin Brock. "Political dirty tricks usually have some foundation in truth, but they just made stuff up."

As the Biden administration pushes its new Disinformation Governance Board, the FBI's former intelligence chief says he is now convinced Democrat Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign used "contrived disinformation" to try to mislead Americans into believing Donald Trump was a Russian asset.

"This is more than just political dirty tricks," retired Assistant Director for Intelligence Kevin Brock told the "Just the News, Not Noise" television show Wednesday. "Political dirty tricks usually have some foundation in truth. But they just made stuff up."

Brock, one of the bureau's most respected former executives, said he has been impressed with the way Special Counsel John Durham has used the prosecution of former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann to expose how the false Russia collusion narrative was constructed.

Sussmann, who has pleaded innocent and faces trial at the end of the month, is charged with lying to the FBI in fall 2016 when he denied he was acting on behalf of a client in bringing the bureau what turned out to be false allegations that Trump had a secret communications channel with the Kremlin.

Durham has exposed recent evidence showing the Clinton campaign's own researchers were skeptical of the allegation, which one described as a "red herring." The underlying data permitted no more than an "inference" at best, according to another. Last week, prosecutors unveiled an email showing a journalist had told the campaign research team weeks before it approached the FBI that one of the Trump-Russia allegations was "bullshit."

"This is the way disinformation is really exposed, not by some contrived government agency, but by evidence presented in court that gets at the truth of what happened," Brock said of the prosecutor's recent evidentiary filings in court. "What Durham is methodically doing, is laying out a case that the Hillary Clinton campaign, the Democrat Party used contrived disinformation in a conspiracy, in a conspiratorial way, to deceive the American voter ahead of the election."

Brock has been sharply critical of his former agency for allowing the Russia collusion probe to continue for two years without an adequate predicate or strong evidence.

He said Sussmann's approach to the FBI must be looked at in a larger context that the Clinton campaign and Democrat Party flooded the FBI, the CIA, the State Department and news media from multiple angles trying to sell the Russia collusion story with flawed evidence like the Steele dossier and get an investigation started.

"This is much more than an attorney for the Clinton campaign lying to the FBI," said Brock. "He is using this charge to expose a larger story, a larger narrative."

“There will be no more border between our countries — Poland and Ukraine. There will be no such border! So that we live together on this earth, building and rebuilding together our common happiness and common strength, which will allow us to repel any danger or any possible threat,” Duda said.

However, the Polish president did not explain what exactly is meant by the elimination of borders.

Ukraine welcomed such claims of the Polish leader. In his turn, President Zelensky did not comment on the Polish plans.

Mr Zelensky has previously expressed a similar idea, meaning the increased Polish military support to Ukraine. As for Kiev, the elimination of borders between the two countries means the unlimited supplies of weapons and military equipment to the Ukrainian Army.

In fact, the political leadership of Poland is preparing the population for the introduction of troops into Ukraine and the upcoming war with the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian soil. Duda’s claims are the public declaration of the de facto annexation by Poland of the territories of Western Ukraine under the quise of the military support against the Russian aggression.
