deletions should only be used as a LAST RESORT in the event of -actual- illegal content (per US Code)
anything beyond that is capricious and not defensible on a "radically free speech" platform

BO told me a few days ago that they were going to use 24 hour bans instead of deletion because it archives the banned (and thus deleted) posts in a page that can be viewed
this functionality is thankfully currently broken
so BO could not share a link to said archive
BO was able to post screenshots from it
it seems plenty of BV's have not received the memo
and are still deleting
anons made a suggestion to BO
how about a policy of:
before ANY post gets deleted
the BO/BV deleting the posts takes a
screencap
of the post to be deleted
they then post this screencap in a locked "trash bin" thread that will archive all deleted posts
expect for actual illegal content, which would not be archived
unsurprisingly, this is too much effort to expect from volunteer moderators
until [someone] codes a solution, we have what we have
and BO further stated
