Jen Psaki Says White House Encourages ‘Peaceful’ Protests Outside Justices’ Homes

 

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday that the Biden administration encourages “peaceful” protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices, despite the fact that such protests aim to intimidate the judiciary and appear to be illegal.

 

As Breitbart News reported Saturday, mobs of pro-abortion protesters gathered outside the homes of Supreme Court justices after the leak of a draft majority opinion by Justice Samuel Alito that would reverse Roe v. Wade (1973). Though the protests have been peaceful, they are virtually unprecedented as a way to pressure the highest court — both directly and personally.

 

Title 18 of the U.S. Code, section 1507, makes protests outside the private residence of a federal judge a federal crime:

 

Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

 

On Friday, Psaki was asked about impending protests but declined to condemn or criticize them. On Monday, she issued a tweet denouncing violence, but did not specifically mention the protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices.

Panel rules Soros-backed prosecutor violated multiple ethics rule in pursuit of ex-Gov. Greitens

 

Missouri panel rules Kimberly Gardner should receive public reprimand for withholding exculpatory evidence, failing to correct false filing.

 

In an extraordinary rebuke to a prosecutor, a Missouri legal disciplinary panel on Tuesday concluded St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner violated multiple legal ethics rules in her failed pursuit of a criminal case against ex-Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens in 2018.

 

The panel ruled Gardner, whose campaign for St. Louis' chief prosecutor job was bankrolled by liberal mega-donor George Soros, should receive a public remand for transgressions that included withholding exculpatory evidence from Greitens' defense and failing to correct a false court filing.

 

The recommendation, which follows a deal between Gardner and the lawyers disciplinary counsel, now heads to the Missouri Supreme Court. You can read the full ruling here.

The panel ruled that Gardner's misconduct caused unnecessary expense to the defendant and taxpayers before she dropped charges in 2018 against the GOP governor, admitting she did not have evidence to prove them.

 

By the time Gardner dropped the case alleging Greitens had tried to blackmail a mistress with a cell phone photo which prosecutors never had and which the witness said may have been an allegation she dreamed up he had already resigned office.

 

The withdrawn prosecution halted the fast-rising career of the Navy SEAL turned GOP governor. Greitens is mounting a comeback and is leading in the GOP race for U.S. Senate in Missouri.

 

"The defendant in the criminal prosecution likely incurred substantial legal fees to compel discovery of evidence that should have been voluntarily produced by Respondent and/or her Office," the panel ruled. Similarly, taxpayer dollars were spent responding to claims of discovery malfeasance on the part of Respondent and/or her Office.

 

"And in the wake of Respondent's non-production, already thinly stretched judicial resources were expended to hold several hearings, review motions and pleadings, and issue orders and rulings, all pertaining to documents and evidence that should have been voluntarily produced," the panel added.

 

The panel said a mitigating factor in not seeking a more serious penalty was that Gardner dropped the case before Greitens was convicted. "The charges against defendant were ultimately dismissed; thus, this was not a situation where a criminal defendant was wrongfully convicted because exculpatory evidence was not provided to his defense."

Australians are being urged to stop using five popular sunscreen products immediately, over concerns a cancer-causing ingredient was mistakenly added to the batch.

 

Product Safety Australia has recalled five products that may have had Benzene accidentally added during manufacturing.

 

Four of the recalled products were made by the Cancer Council and Nivea, which are sold across hundreds of supermarkets, pharmacies, and online stores Australia-wide.

 

Two batches of the Cancer Council’s Sensitive Sunscreen SPF50+ products – the 110ml tube and 200ml pump pack – were officially recalled for containing Benzene.

Jack Dorsey claims he is against permanent bans, with a few exceptions

 

Twitter co-founder said he generally “agrees” that there should not be permanent suspensions of individual users, after billionaire and newly-minted owner of the social media giant Elon Musk promised to reverse the ban on former US President Donald Trump after the acquisition is completed.

 

Jack Dorsey tweeted on Tesday that “generally permanent bans are a failure of ours and don't work,” listing several notable exceptions like child sexual exploitation, spam, “network manipulation” and other "illegal behavior."

 

However, Dorsey also quote-tweeted his statement following the January 6 riot at the Capitol, in which he had tried to explain how the controversial move to silence the US President “was the right decision” driven by “the best information we had based on threats to physical safety both on and off Twitter.”

All the newly resigned governors would have seen their mandates expire in September

 

Five Russian governors announced their resignation in one day on Tuesday. All of them would have seen their mandates expire later this year ahead of the regional elections scheduled for September 11, Russia’s national voting day in 2022.

 

Two of the governors – Sergey Zhvachkin of the Siberian Tomsk Oblast and Valery Radaev of the Saratov Oblast in the Volga Federal District – had served for two consecutive terms and had occupied their posts for a decade since 2012. Although Russia passed a law allowing governors to serve for more than two terms in a row in 2021, both have said they would not run for another term at the upcoming elections.

 

The head of the Kirov Oblast – another region in the Volga Federal District – Igor Vasilyev, who had occupied his position since 2016, has said he had asked President Vladimir Putin to relieve him of his duties since he plans to work at “the federal level.” The governor previously worked with the Russian State Register – a federal agency that deals with everything related to land and real estate.

FBI Mistakenly Names Saudi Consulate Employee Eyed in 9/11 Investigation

 

And a second oversight names a man allegedly "tasked" by a Saudi official with helping two 9/11 hijackers in California

 

Over the past several months, the FBI released thousands of pages of material relating to its investigation of Saudi government links to the 9/11 attacks.

 

This wave of declassifications was pursuant to Executive Order 14040, which President Biden issued on Sept. 3 under pressure from more than 1,800 survivors, family members and first responders who threatened to protest his presence at memorial events if he didn’t make good on a 2020 campaign promise to boost 9/11 transparency.

 

The published documents are riddled with redactions, but a Stark Realities review of the trove has uncovered two instances in which the FBI neglected to redact names of interest to FBI investigators—and to attorneys representing 9/11 victims and insurers in their civil suit against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The first inadvertently-published name is “Mana.” A sworn declaration from a former FBI agent suggests the full name is of this individual is Ismail “Smail” Mana, who worked at the Saudi consulate in Los Angeles at the time the first two 9/11 hijackers arrived in the city.

 

The FBI concluded that, on February 1, 2000, Mana met at the consulate with a Saudi man, Omar al-Bayoumi, who would—later that same day—meet Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, the first two hijackers to arrive in the United States, take them under his wing and facilitate their transition into American residency in San Diego.

 

The second mistakenly-published name is “Johar,” who’s described as having been “tasked” by Saudi consulate official Fahad al-Thumairy to pick up the same two hijackers at the airport and “take care of them during their time in Los Angeles.” The same former FBI agent’s declaration suggests the full name of this person is Mohammed Johar.

 

Each name is concealed on the first reference in a paragraph about them, but then left unredacted on a single subsequent reference.

 

According to the redaction key that accompanies the released documents, both names were to be withheld as “information restricted from public release under the Privacy Act of 1974.” The names were, however, to be produced in the 9/11 civil suit, with attorneys bound to maintain their secrecy. The Department of Justice has yet to respond to a request for comment; this story will be updated if it does.

 

Note: FBI documents are not evidence; assertions in FBI documents may prove false; behavior that appears suspicious may have a benign explanation; and association with the hijackers doesn’t equate to foreknowledge of their intentions.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday on CNN’s “The Lead” that if he were the Attorney General, he would proceed with pursuing an indictment against former President Donald Trump based on what was public knowledge.

 

Guest-anchor Dana Bash said, “There’s a national conversation about the former president. And I know you were opposed to indicting a former president in the past. In the case of Donald Trump, however, you say that you no longer believe it’s unthinkable. Explain why.”

 

Holder said, “Yeah, I think given the breadth of what we already know, the depth of the criminality that we already know, and what I undoubtedly think we’re going to get from the January 6th Committee, and the danger to the republic, there was an attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power, it seems to me there has to be accountability for that. Just as importantly, there has to be deterrence so people in the future will not try to do that which they tried to accomplish on January 6th. And that has really kind of moved me from thinking, it will be a divisive thing if it happens, but it will be equally divisive, I think, not to take action against those who tried to foment that coup.”

 

Bash said, “You do believe that there is a chance that the current attorney general, Merrick Garland, will indict Donald Trump, despite how divisive you acknowledge it could be?”

 

Holder said, “I think that possibility exists. I have great faith in Merrick Garland.”

 

Bash asked, “Would you do that if you were attorney general now?”

 

Holder said, “Well, I don’t have access to all of the information.”

 

Bash interjected, “From public record.”

 

Holder said, “Right, to the extent that I was satisfied that the statutory requirements were met and that you could show the necessary intent, given the nature of this crime, yeah, I would proceed.”
