I disagree, Gowdy is just very careful and speaks like a prosecutor. That entire interview is interesting though, the way he talks about the Mueller investigation is basically a hint to Trump how to handle his defense that it was supposed to be a counterintelligence investigation and that's it. This fact makes it very odd that Comey wouldn't tell the us that Trump wasn't under investigation because it technically was a CI investigation targeting potential Russians and Trump trying to obstruct a CI investigation by firing Comey is obsurd.

Well I agree, Gowdy is seeing the investigation on how it should be and not how it might actually be. Is Trump under investigation? Not really sure about that, certainly not a target. This comes into the background of Gowdy ( a lawyer) and Nunes (not a lawyer) Gowdy functions on an innocent until proven guilty level, he would never speculate until all of the facts are in, which they are not. This will give him credibility in the future as oversight chairman. Remember though, Gowdy wrote the memo, he is on our side, once we get the additional documentation he will raise hell, he's just more conservative than Nunes because his future will be in the justice department somewhere so he has to be more cautious than Nunes

Yep this is what I'm trying ti figure out, it's almost as if Gowdy is reminding the Rosenstein, etc. that the investigation should be a CI investigation and that they would have to identify a crime if they wanted to make it criminal. There will be repercussions if not so, and this cryptic advice that Gowdy is sending to Trump's team is good in my opinion. Once the Mueller scope is revealed and other documentation I think Gowdy will change his cautious tune
