Doctor gave Covid-19 shot to hundreds of kids as young as six months old

A Toronto doctor is facing no professional discipline after admitting to giving the Covid-19 vaccine to at least 500 kids as young as six months old, despite the shot not being approved for children under the age of five.

According to the Toronto Star, Dr. Christopher Sun from Weston-Mount Dennis stands by his decision and claims he did it “to protect children.”

“I put my neck on the line and did what I wanted to get done, which was to protect children,” Sun told the outlet. “These are worried parents in time of a health crisis and I think it’s wrong to turn away people who know what they are getting into.”

Toronto Public Health informed Sun to stop vaccinating kids under the age of five, and Sun was reported to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Despite being reported, he continued to vaccinate that age group until the month’s end. Continue…

WHO assembly turns into anti-Russian squabble-fest

The Russian Federation exercised their right of reply to say things that directly contradict the mainstream narrative about what is unfolding in the Ukrainian conflict.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is hosting its annual World Health Assembly (WHA) this week in Geneva, Switzerland. The theme, established by Director General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, is “Peace for Health, Health for Peace,” is especially peculiar as member states' delegations continually reference the Russian war on Ukraine.

Except that after a plenary meeting general discussion, a representative from the Russian Federation exercised their right of reply at the end to say things that directly contradict the mainstream narrative about what is unfolding in the Ukrainian conflict.

Russia’s representative condemned “the lies and insinuations and unsubstantiated accusations of Russia in regards to Ukraine. Russia, based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter is carrying out its right to self defence and carrying out it’s special military operation and the UN security council was informed of this in due course.”

He continues by saying that “our country is not just protecting itself from a Nazi threat but also acting in line with the principles of the UN Charter in Donbas, Ukraine.” Apparently those same principles have been violated for eight years, since the 2014 coupe d’état in Kiev. “Our army is not carrying out strikes against civilian infrastructure including healthcare infrastructure,” says the representative before asking that Ukraine and other delegates stop using the WHA forum to make such statements. He then accuses Ukraine of conducting these strikes on it's own citizenry.

There were claps in the crowd but the camera did not show from which member states.

A back and forth ensued between France, the United States, and Norway before the meeting commenced.

Supporters dished out $1,000 in anticipation of seeing the prime minister in person, only to be treated to a short virtual appearance instead.

What was supposed to be an expensive in-person evening with the prime minister this past Tuesday quickly turned into guests paying $1,000 each to watch Justin Trudeau appear virtually for a few minutes instead.

The fancy Liberal fundraiser advertised as “An Evening with the RT.HON. Justin Trudeau” took place at the Aria Convention Centre in Surrey B.C., where around 100 locals gathered outside to protest against the prime minister's scheduled appearance.

Such cold welcomes for Prime Minister Trudeau are becoming more and more common across the country. Just the day prior to this event, Trudeau was heckled and told “you’re not welcome here” by Indigenous protesters before the speaking at the one year anniversary of the announcement of unmarked graves at a Kamloops residential school. So the globalists have been meeting this week in Geneva at the World Health Assembly and they have been meeting in Davos at the World Economic Forum summit. The two cities, Geneva and Davos, are both located in Switzerland, about three hours apart by car. Between these two meetings, the globalist predator class will be getting their instructions on what to do and what to expect over the next 12 months. I am calling this 12-month window the opening salvo in the kill phase of the Great Reset.

Schwab opened the meeting at Davos by saying "the future is not just happening; the future is built by us, by a powerful community, as you here in this room." Schwab said "we must prepare for an angrier world," which I take as a bad sign that the globalists are getting anxious, feeling that if they don't take drastic action soon all their plans to erect an end-times global government could be wasted.

Ross Wightman posted to his Facebook page the letter he received dated May 20 from the Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP).

“Some long-awaited recognition from the government,” he said in the post that included a copy of the letter indicating his “claim has been approved for compensation.”

“We were very [skeptical] as to where this process would go early on, as the service we were getting was appalling. That being said, I have to give credit where credit is due, and our current case manager and project lead has been excellent.”

“Following an assessment of your case, it has been determined by our Medical Review Board that there is probable causal association between the injury(ies) sustained and the vaccination,” said VISP in the letter, adding, “As such your claim has been approved for compensation.”

Wightman redacted the amount of his payout stated in the letter which indicates the “indemnity will be paid as a lump sum and is tax exempt.”

“I’m the first person in Canada to ever receive this letter!

Almost eight in ten (78%) Canadians believe that the country is in or near recession, according to a new survey.

A Maru Public Opinion poll conducted for Yahoo shows a majority of Canadians have indicated that the economy is on the wrong track.

Over half (52%) said they believe that the country is already in a recession. Half again of those said they believed that Canada would enter a recession in the next three months, putting the number of Canadians concerned about an economic downturn at 78%.

Although many would define a recession as a decline in overall economic activity, economists specifically identify a recession as two or more months in a row with negative GDP growth.

Concerns over the economy entering a recession stem from several economic developments, including the Bank of Canada raising interest rates in an effort to curb inflation. Inflation has reached a high of 6.8% – a number not seen since the Mulroney government 31 years ago. Continue…

Supporters of Save Old Growth, a group that advocates for “climate action” and against the logging industry despite the many jobs it creates for some First Nation communities has taken credit for the heaping pile of crap outside the premieres office.

A press release put out by the group suggests that the fresh manure was plopped out front of the premiere’s office because their supporters are “tired of the Horgan NDP government’s inaction to protect old growth forests” despite previous campaign

promises.

A news release from West Shore RCMP states that they are currently investigating the incident as a case of mischief after receiving a report of “approximately 5 people discarding and throwing manure at the front doors of John Horgan’s MLA Community Office.”

Despite the incident taking place in Canada, Save Old Growth supporters bank accounts are not being seized due to the incident.

Videos have emerged showing NDP leader Jagmeet Singh getting heckled so bad he had to flee his public event in Brampton.

“We got questions,” a man yells as Jagmeet Singh hurries into his car.

“Jagmeet! Jagmeet! Yo, bro, don’t run,” another says.

“Jagmeet, I’m wearing a mask, bro. You’ve got to respect me!”

As some have noted and as videos show, Brampton is almost majority South Asian, with Sikhs — the religion Singh belongs to, and what makes this shameful retreat even funnier — being one of the most notable religious groups in the area.

Indeed, at the public meet and greet, nearly all of those heckling Singh were Indian Sikhs, who Singh subsequently called the police on.

Videos also reveal NDP staff, all of whom were masked, preventing several Indian men from attending the event, even though it was supposedly open to the public.

However, despite calling the police on hecklers, it doesn’t look like anyone’s been arrested. Moreover, in a separate video, several Indian men talk with police, sharing a laugh over Singh’s cowardice.

Major pushback from the Sikh community appears to have been inflamed during the Freedom Convoy protest, which many Sikhs attended, both in and out of the trucker community.

Many protesters noted Singh’s role and support in pushing lockdowns and COVID restrictions, while others have pointed out his allegiance to the World Economic Forum, of which Singh is not only a member but a trainee through the WEF’s five-year Young Global Leaders program.

Before Singh was run out of Brampton, he expressed concern over possible racism at future events, echoing Trudeau’s lies that he cancelled a fundraiser over racist slurs.

Of course, allegations of racist slurs at Trudeau’s Liberal events were debunked, and several mainstream media outlets have been forced to amend their articles due to lack of evidence. In reality, no one shouted anything remotely racist at Trudeau — his mere presence simply elicits scorn from Canadians.

It will be hard for Singh to make the same allegations given the demographics shown in videos of his disgracing.

The President of Belarus and Russia’s Putin ask the UN Secretary-General to recognize a “New World Order” where they are given security guarantees to prevent them from invading other countries.

Late last week the President of Belarus, a dictator and supporter of Putin, asked the head of the UN to protect their “New World Order”.

“I didn’t do it”. “It’s all your fault anyway”. “Leave me alone”. That’s the vision of a “new world order” Russian President Vladimir Putin just formally outlined to the United Nations.

His closest friend and ally Alexander Lukashenko, dictator of neighbouring Belarus, has handed a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres detailing his and Putin’s rationale for the invasion of Ukraine.

Lukashenko repeated Putin’s threat that, unless “security guarantees” were forthcoming, the Ukraine war would become “protracted with devastating consequences”.

According to the state-controlled Belarusian news agency BelTA, the president urged the Secretary-General to institute a “new world order” under which all sovereign states have “security guarantees”.

Belarus President and Putin ally Alexander Lukashenko, allowed Putin to place arms, planes, and soldiers in his country before the invasion of Ukraine. He supports Putin and along with Putin believes that Putin was right in invading Ukraine.

To date thousands of people have died in the Ukraine as Russia continues its invasion and destruction of Ukraine’s army.

Davos Reveals Building-Blocks For "Green" Social-Credit System

This week, during one of the WEF’s live-streamed panels, Alibaba Holdings President J. Michael Evans claimed that the company is working on an app that could track an individual users carbon footprint.

The former-Goldman Sachs vice-chairman told the audience of the “Strategic Outlook: Responsible Consumption” panel:

"We’re developing, through technology, an ability for consumers to measure their own carbon footprint. What does that mean? That’s where are they travelling, how are they travelling, what are they eating, what are they consuming on our platform. So: An individual carbon footprint tracker.”

Now, to clarify, Evans was only talking about Alibaba’s platform…but that’s a big platform…

…How long before Alibaba decides to “reward” other “correct choices” that have nothing to do with the environment? Like vaccination, for example.

How long after that do they start punishing incorrect choices?

They already technically have access to the data they would need to construct this system. It would be naïve in the extreme to not see where this leads.

And, of course, it won’t just be China. If Alibaba is doing this then Google, Amazon, Apple and all the rest of them won’t be far behind.

World Economic Forum: Smartphones Will Be Forced into Your Body by 2030

The World Economic Forum has declared that all humans will have smartphones embedded into their bodies by the year 2030.

“By then (2030), definitely the smartphone as we know it today will not anymore be the most common interface, many of these things will be built directly into our bodies.”

Thepulse.com reports: However, before smartphones are implanted directly into the body, Lundmark believes people will be transitioning away from smartphones and towards face wearables like glasses.

That said, the world is unlikely to be dominated by smartphones, glasses, or other devices until 6G becomes commonplace – which is expected to hit the commercial market by around 2030. Still, only 30% of the world has been digitized, for the other 70% to “come online”, much infrastructural work will need to be done.

For those wondering, the exact definition for 6G is currently unclear as the world is still coming to grips with 5G. A controversial technology we don’t yet know the negative ramifications of.

Parents are expressing concern after a British Columbia elementary school put up a board teaching six and seven-year-old kids that “gender is a spectrum,” as well as gender ideology terms.

In a now-deleted tweet, the Sooke School District (SD62) school board wrote that a “Grade 1 teacher champion at Ruth King Elementary along with (a) fellow teacher” created the display “for the school lobby for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.”

The display features various definitions on the terms “homosexual, transgender and bisexual.” One of the features is a rainbow with the message, “gender is a spectrum.” Continue…

Officials hold fake pro-freedom protest at Toronto's Pearson Airport

The return of in-person security exercises saw 300 employees and volunteers chanting for freedom.

In-person exercises at Toronto's Pearson International Airport returned this weekend, the first time since COVID-19 was pandemic was declared in March 2020. Officials with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) staged a fake protest involving 300 individuals holding a mock “Freedom Rally” type of demonstration.

The fake protesters, a mix of airport employees and volunteers, chanted “Freedom! Freedom!” while holding signs with slogans like “Trump 2024”, “Looks like I picked the wrong week to trust the government” and “My freedoms my rights”.

Speaking to CBC, spokesperson Tori Gass told the state broadcaster that the GTAA was “testing our response to an emergency or security situation.”

“It's important that we test our response in as real life a situation as possible so that we know, when a situation like this arises, we are taking the right steps to respond,” adding that the fake freedom fighters were “very enthusiastic about playing their roles and testing our response to it.” Continue…

If Lisa and Julie were employed in the U.S., in Mexico, in Italy, the vaccine requirement wouldn't exist — so why does it exist in Canada?

“Corruption, I would say,” autoworker Lisa told Menzies. “Somebody's been paid off, there's something sketchy going on,” she speculated.

Unifor alleges that Dias was on the receiving end of a $50,000 bribe from a COVID test kit supplier, the CBC reported. Could that be the reason for some of Chrysler's COVID mandates?

“I'm very certain that is the reason we are out of a job,” Julie told Rebel News as Lisa outlined how the union had very little pushback on COVID mandates.

“Get the shot or you're out,” was how Lisa described the union's response.

What do Lisa and Julie think about paying dues and being a part of a union that is in lockstep with the company and the government?

“We've been calling our local, speaking with them, and they can't give us any answers,” Julie explained to Menzies. “So they filed a policy grievance, so we're going to arbitration May 17, they're just riding on everything that's going to happen at the arbitration.”

Among those in attendance were some of the truckers who were part of the Coutts blockade, in addition to Pastor Artur Pawlowski, who spent 51 days in jail in part because he dared to preach at Coutts, and a number of members of the Rebel News team, including Kian Simone, the mastermind behind the film and Syd Fizzard, who was embedded alongside him in Coutts.

Chief Reporter Sheila Gunn Reid emceed the evening, and Mocha Bezirgan and myself, Adam Soos, who were in Coutts and Milk River covering the story, were also in attendance.

The Rebel team was also joined by Chad Williamson, of Williamson Law and who represented the truckers through TruckerLawyer.ca, after the screening for a live Q&A session where the audience was able to engage directly with everyone from our team who touched this story.

Feedback on the film among attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many who were in Coutts insisting that, unlike the mainstream media’s dishonest depiction, Simone’s film really captured what happened during those nine fateful days.

Huawei Ban Undermines Canadian and World Security

On May 19, the Canadian government formally announced that it would prohibit products and services of Chinese corporations Huawei and ZTE from being used in Canadian high-speed telecommunications systems.

The long-anticipated ban is far reaching. According to the government’s policy statement released last week, all Huawei and ZTE equipment are prohibited from use in the 5G network and previously installed work has to be removed by 2024. The same applies to the 4G network. Telecommunications companies must cease purchasing Huawei and ZTE equipment by September 1, 2022. During the transition periods, Canada’s spy agency, the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) will monitor any use of Huawei or ZTE equipment or services.

The government further intends to impose restrictions on Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) equipment used in fibre-optic networks. According to the policy statement, “During these transition periods, telecommunications service providers that use this equipment and managed services would be required to comply with any assurance requirements prescribed by the government, building from the CSE’s Security Review Program.”

“Our government will always protect the safety and security of Canadians and will take any actions necessary to safeguard our critical telecommunications infrastructure,” stated Liberal minister François-Philippe Champagne in announcing the ban.

But do such measures really protect Canadians?

“Canada’s international allies have moved to lift COVID-19 restrictions at airports and other points of entry,” the motion continues. “The Conservative motion calls on the government “to immediately revert to pre-pandemic rules and service levels for travel.”

A new report by the defence ministry has called systemic racism and white supremacy the biggest problems plaguing Canada’s military.

The Final Report of the Minister of National Defence Advisory Panel on Systemic Racism and Discrimination includes a 15-page glossary defining terms such as “ableism,” ‘cisgender” and “invisible disabilities.”

Its authors claim that Canada is an inherently racist country and recommends that monotheistic religions like Christianity have no place in the military.

“The failure of the Defence Team to be representative of Canadian demographics is rooted in the system that was created by European settlers,” the report reads.

The four panel members behind the 108-page report go on to cite an unverified claim by so-called “hate researcher” Dr. Barbara Perry which argues that there are “300 active far-right extremists groups” operating in Canada without any evidence.

Disney promotes activist organization pushing for LGBTQ programming in public schools

The lobbying firm GLSEN’s advocacy has directly influenced teacher training, curricula and policy guides in public schools.

Disney is not backing down from its pro-transgender activist stance. Following its defeat against Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration in Florida, when it mounted a campaign to prevent the passage of the state’s anti-grooming bill, Disney is now stepping up its efforts to fund LGBTQ+ programming in public schools.

Disney announced on its official blog that it intends to donate proceeds from its 2022 Pride Merch collection to GLSEN (pronounced “glisten,”) a lobbying firm responsible for pushing LGBTQ+ programming in public schools.

In addition to GLSEN, the Disney Pride Collection will also benefit numerous other LGBTQ+ centers and groups, including the Trevor Project and international LGBTQ+ organizations such as ARELAS, a Spanish-based trans organization, and the U.K-based Diversity Role Models (DRM).

The Daily Caller revealed that Disney donated $100,000 to GLSEN in 2020, during pride month. The move was announced by Disney.

As detailed by Parents Defending Education, a school advocacy group, GLSEN’s advocacy has directly influenced teacher training, curricula, and policy guides in public schools.

Bounding Into Comics reports that in 2021 Disney published a special titled “This Is Me,” an LGBT program to encourage kids to support GLSEN and its initiatives.

The World Health Organization says that people should not change their plans to attend Pride celebrations over monkeypox outbreaks.

The leading theory for the reason for rapid spread of the virus is sex between men at two raves in Europe.

The order of 500,000 smallpox vaccines placed by Canada just weeks before the monkeypox outbreak began, despite the disease being declared eradicated in 1972, has forced many people to doubt the mainstream narrative.

Weeks before the first cases were reported, Public Services and Procurement Canada issued a tender for 500,000 smallpox vaccine doses that can be used against monkeypox.

500,000 doses of Imvamune, a “third generation” smallpox vaccine, were ordered “on behalf of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC)” on April 21, according to a report from Public Services and Procurement Canada, weeks before the first cases of monkeypox were reported to the World Health Organization on May 13.

“Although smallpox disease is currently considered to be eradicated, PHAC is procuring a stockpile of the vaccine to immunize Canadians against smallpox disease should a risk ever arise where smallpox is intentionally or unintentionally released,” the April 21 tender reads.

The contract’s “Evaluation Criteria” state that “prior to contract award, the vaccine must have Health Canada regulatory approval for active immunization against smallpox, monkeypox and related orthopoxvirus infection and disease in adults 18 years of age and older determined to be at high risk for exposure.”

The contract’s “Term of Contract” is April 1, 2023 through March 21, 2028.

Despite Canada’s decision to stop routinely administering smallpox vaccines in 1972 after the disease was declared “eradicated,” the order for the shots arrives just in time for the sudden onset of monkeypox, a disease from the same family that, according to the April tender, can be treated with the same Imvamune vaccine.

Following the “confirmation” of five cases of monkeypox in Quebec last Friday, Canada’s public health chief, Dr. Theresa Tam, said the country is considering utilizing smallpox vaccine doses to limit the spread of the rare disease. Continue…

Some Liberal-appointed senators are raising concerns over a new bill to make it easier for Canadian border agents to search travellers’ electronic devices, with one senator likening it to fascist tactics used in Spain under Francisco Franco.

Bill S-7 would expand the grounds for searches of travellers’ cell phones and other devices by the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA). Under the threshold of “reasonable general concern,” officers would be able to demand passwords in order to access mobile devices.

Public Safety Minister Marco Medicino defended Bill S-7 in committee on Monday, where two Liberal-appointed senators voiced serious opposition.

“I find this arbitrary and intrusive and I don’t think what you’ve said today really convinces me otherwise,” said New Brunswick senator David Richards. “It’s the same kind of searches I witnessed in Spain during Franco.”

“Who gets to decide whom to search, and how in God’s name can we ever be fair or impartial during these searches?”

B.C. senator Mobina Jaffer added that the definition of “reasonable general concern” was too vague as grounds for a search and that it puts travellers at risk of being racially profiled.

In a bizarre video to mark Menstrual Health Day, the education director and associate director of the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) have said they’re working to “reduce the stigma” attached to menstruators so that classrooms can be “inclusive spaces.”

Jeewan Chanicka – who writes his name all lower-case – and Lila Read appeared in what can only be described as a Saturday Night Live-esque production, saying their big priority for the day is to address “period poverty.”

Read says they’re “very proud” of the fact that they’ve put free menstrual products in their schools since 2019.

Menstrual Health Day is a global movement that takes place on May 28 and draws attention to the stigma attached to menstruation and the barriers that some have to getting proper menstrual products.

But as Ontario school boards try to out-woke each other, the menstruation agenda now includes an equally surreal gender-equity imperative.

For example, Chanicka said they don’t refer to the products as “feminine hygiene products” because not all people who menstruate are feminine.

While an IT waiver is a standard document for entering online school, the college’s form makes no mention of online learning.

“We acknowledge this sacred land on which George Brown College operates,” it reads. “As settlers or the displanted, we benefit from the colonization and genocide of the Indigenous peoples on this land. In order to engage in resistance and solidarity against the past and present injustices inflicted on the Indigenous people of this land, it is imperative we constantly engage in acts of awareness and decolonization.”

The Trudeau government has announced that in 2023, possession of small amounts of hard drugs including heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine will be decriminalized in British Columbia.

Federal Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Carolyn Bennett made the announcement on Tuesday in response to B.C.’s growing opioid epidemic.

“For far too long, this wave of loss has been a reality in British Columbia and across the country,” said Bennett.

“Today, we take the first steps in the much needed bold action and significant policy change.”

According to the federal government, Canadians over the age of 18 will be able to possess up to 2.5 grams of opioids, methamphetamines, MDMA and opioids. Those found to possess such substances will not be subject to arrest or having the drugs seized.

The announcement comes one day after Parliament voted down a Conservative opposition motion to lift all federal travel restrictions for Canadians.

The Canadian federal government announced Tuesday that all COVID-19 restrictions at the border will remain in place for at least another month.

The Public Health Agency of Canada made the announcement on Twitter, stating that "The [Government of Canada] is extending current border measures for travellers entering Canada until at least June 30, 2022… All travellers, regardless of vaccination status, must continue to submit their information in #ArriveCAN through the free app or web site."

All current COVID-19 restrictions will remain in place at Canadian airports and land borders, including vaccine mandates, testing requirements and the requirement to "provide mandatory travel information" to the federal government through the ArriveCan app. Travellers who do not submit their information via the government app “may be denied entry into Canada” or face substantial fines.

Specific restrictions vary depending on travellers' age, citizenship and vaccination status.

'Reclaiming Canada Conference' draws hundreds to B.C.'s legislature

Freedom lovers in B.C. turned up for a conference featuring a lengthy list of guest speakers outside of the province's legislature in Victoria.

B.C.’s freedom movement upped its game in Victoria this past weekend by way of a Reclaiming Canada Conference put on by WeUnify.ca.

The conference kicked off with a stacked lineup of guest speakers, including former premier of Newfoundland Brian Peckford, Conservative leadership candidate Roman Baber, Christian broadcaster Faytene Grasseschi and frontline doctors that have spoken out against the politicization of COVID-19.

The protest, which had close to 500 in attendance in front of Victoria's legislature, was peaceful with the exception of a small group of counter-protesters who chanted about trans rights while circling the protest. The counter-protesters made remarks that suggest they were opposed to two of the rally’s guest speakers, Action 4 Canada’s Tanya Gaw and Canadian Voters Association Kari Simpson.

$997,826 was given to Elarex Inc. to “develop liquid thermostable mRNA vaccines for the low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).”

$1,510,994 was given to AbCellera Biologics Inc. to “identify potent anti-RSV monoclonal antibodies to protect infants in low and middle income countries from RSV infection morbidity and mortality.”

$100,000 was given to the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health to “provide general operating support.”

In total, Bill Gates has provided $23,183,918 to pharmaceutical companies and biological research facilities in Canada alone in just over two years, of which much is COVID-related.

The Trudeau government has been working with major Canadian airlines to formally bring in digital ID, facial recognition, and biometric travel documents to air travel by 2023.

According to an article from the Canada Gazette, the government’s outlet, “In accordance with PS’ Forward Regulatory Plan 2021–2023, the need to update the [Secure Air Travel Regulations] to offer more options to travellers and the industry to meet pre-aircraft boarding identity verification requirements through innovation was also considered during the stakeholder consultation exercises.”

“This includes digitized identification documents, digital identity documents and biometric travel documents. While four air carriers confirmed their intent to implement innovative identity management solutions in the short to medium term, no specific immediate change has been identified for the SATR.”

The government clarifies what they mean by digital identity documents and biometric travel documents towards the bottom of the article:

“For the purpose of this proposal, digitized, digital and biometric documents refer to digital copies of physical identification documents that are scanned or updated, digital identification documents issued by a government authority, and electronic identification documents that use biometric identifiers (such as facial recognition) respectively.”

The proposal has come under the guise of protecting Canada from terrorists by enhancing the Passenger Protect Program (PPP).

Bank of Canada Hikes Another 50, Warns It Is "Prepared To Act More Forcefully If Needed"

As expected, the Bank of Canada hiked the overnight rate by 50bps to 1.50%, its second consecutive 50bps rate hike in a row, and delivered a hawkish statement that raised worries about inflation pressures intensifying and becoming entrenched at elevated levels; specifically, the Governing Council said it is prepared to act "more forcefully if needed" to meet its commitment to achieving the 2% inflation target.

The back-to-back 50bps increases are unprecedented since the bank began adjusting monetary policy at fixed decision dates in 2000, and are meant to be an overwhelming response to the stronger-than-anticipated inflation dogging the nation.

Policymakers conceded that inflation is rising faster than their April forecasts, and “will likely move even higher in the near term before beginning to ease.”

While the 50 basis point hike was expected, the language will fuel speculation that policy makers led by Governor Tiff Macklem are considering a faster pace of tightening than they have been suggesting, according to Bloomberg. Currently, markets are pricing in another half-point increase at the July 13 meeting, before slowing the pace of tightening in the second half of this year. The central bank is seen stopping around the 3% mark.

The central bank “is prepared to act more forcefully if needed to meet its commitment to achieve the 2% inflation target,” the Bank said in the statement.

“The risk of elevated inflation becoming entrenched has risen,” the officials said, adding that they will use their tools to return inflation to target and keep expectations “well-anchored.”

As Bloomberg notes, "there’s little ambiguity about the key messaging and main points" - the statement highlighted how inflation is well above target and could go higher before easing, with price pressures now broad. Officials also said the economy is “clearly” operating with excess demand while growth is poised to remain heated.

Even with Wednesday’s increase, interest rates remain stimulative. The central bank estimates its policy rate needs to rise to between 2 to 3% in order for borrowing costs to no longer be inflationary, but Wednesday’s hawkish comments could fuel a debate whether the central bank may need to hike beyond the neutral range and actively slow economic growth in order to contain three-decade high inflation.

The bank noted that the housing market is “moderating” from “exceptionally” elevated levels of activity, while noting that consumer spending remains robust.
