Thank you! I did add a layer and made a white rectangle over the "SCIENTIST" to fade it a little.
Let me try fading the overlay, which itself is a couple layers:
Hmm, it made the white into gray as I faded that layer. But, at least the "SCIENTIST" is somewhat visible through it.
Not sure if it's better; will "bun" this and put the others with it.

Added one more, I think this is the best one: black text, with white border; also both faded so the "SCIENTIST" shows through better.
