Three Wisconsin Middle School Boys Hit with Title IX Sexual Harassment Complaint for Calling Non-Binary Classmate by Wrong Pronouns
Three Wisconsin middle school boys were hit with a Title IX sexual harassment complaint for refusing to refer to a non-binary classmate by âthey/themâ pronouns.
Three 8th graders at Kiel Middle School are under investigation for refusing to capitulate to a so-called ânon-binaryâ studentâs demands.
Title IX covers rape, dating violence and quid pro quo sexual favors.
Attorneys at the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty argue that Title IX doesnât cover the misuse of pronouns and neither do any of the school districtâs policies.
WLUK reported:
The school district has filed a Title IX complaint against the Kiel Middle School students, accusing them of sexual harassment for using incorrect pronouns when addressing another student.
I received a phone call from the principal over at the elementary school, forewarning me; letting me know that I was going to be receiving an email with sexual harassment allegations against my son,â Rosemary Rabidoux, one of the parents of the students being accused said. âI immediately went into shock! Iâm thinking, sexual harassment? Thatâs rape, thatâs inappropriate touching, thatâs incest. What has my son done?â
Rabidouxâs 13-year-old son Braden is one of the three eighth-grade Kiel Middle School students accused of sexual harassment â something she disputes.
â(The investigating principal) said heâs being allegedly charged with sexual harassment for not using proper pronouns,â said Rabidoux. âI thought it wasnât real! I thought this has got to be a gag, a joke â one has nothing to do with the other.â
According to the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL), now defending the accused students, in March, one of their peers announced the pronouns theyâd prefer to be addressed as â they/them.
One of the alleged incidents Braden and the others were supposedly involved in happened in late April.
âShe had been screaming at one of Bradenâs friends to use proper pronouns, calling him profanity, and this friend is very soft-spoken, and kind of just sunk down into his chair,â Rabidoux explained. âBraden finally came up, defending him, saying âHe doesnât have to use proper pronouns, itâs his constitutional right to not use, you canât make him say things.ââ
The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty issued a letter to administrators at the Kiel Area School District demanding they drop the Title IX complaint against the 8th grade boys.
âSchool administrators canât force minor students to comply with their preferred mode of speaking. And they certainly shouldnât be slapping eighth graders with Title IX investigations for what amounts to protected speech. This is a terrible precedent to set, with enormous ramifications,â WILL said in a statement.

Zelensky asks US to designate Russia a âterrorist stateâ after McConnell visit
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell took three Republican senators along on a surprise trip to Kyiv Saturday for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky â where he called on the US to designate Russia as a âterrorist state.â
âI believe that this visit once again demonstrates ⌠the strength of ties between the Ukrainian and American nations,â Zelensky said in his nightly video address, even as a bipartisan bill to send $40 billion in additional aid remained stalled in Congress â while both Finland and Sweden inched closer to joining NATO.
The GOP visit, the latest in a string of high-level US trips to the war-torn nation as the Russian invasion grinds on, was âa strong signal of bipartisan support for Ukraine from the United States Congress and the American people,â Zelensky wrote on his official Instagram account.
âThank you for your leadership in helping us fight not only for our country, but also for democratic values and freedoms,â the president added. âWe really appreciate it.â
McConnell, along with Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), John Cornyn (R-Tex.), and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), made the trip just two days after their fellow Republican, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, forced a temporary halt to the massive military and humanitarian aid bill.
A top Zelensky aide wrote that the visit signaled an imminent end to the impasse in Congress.
âToday, our state has the strong bipartisan and bicameral support of American friends,â Andrij Sybiha wrote on Facebook. âAnd the American people.â
President Biden is now one of the few top US officials yet to brave the war zone for an in-person meeting with Zelensky. Even first lady Jill Biden slipped into Ukraine last week for an unannounced visit with Zelenskyâs wife, Olena Zelenska.
The Republicansâ trip came as Finland is expected to join NATO, something its neighbor Sweden is also mulling.
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the president of Finland that its plan to apply for NATO membership is âa mistake.â
The âend of the traditional policy of military neutrality would be a mistake since there is no threat to Finlandâs security,â Putin told Finnish President Sauli NiinistĂś, according to the Kremlinâs account of the call.
But NiinistĂś countered that Putin had only himself to blame â because his Ukraine invasion had âaltered the security environment of Finland,â the BBC reported. Russia cut off electricity supplies to Finland on Friday as news of its expected NATO application spread.
One Putin ally responded with fury â and a threat of nuclear retaliation.
