Well, I hadn't said anything, but now that some of you have caught up with me, and the ones that already knew have decided it's time to drop a dime, I don't have to say anything. I will say this much, it's looked to me like two factions have been going at it tooth and nail, one bad and another one monsters, and the former find the behaviors of the latter distasteful, shall we say, and have led some of us to believe they now have the upper hand.

Time will tell if we have reformed grey hats, grey hats, or the usual suspects. Looking at the depth of the chasm of hell that's already been revealed to us that we have no control over, we are passengers, maybe unwilling, on this tour bus and might as well enjoy the scenery.

On a tangent, here is a clip that took me hours to glean from that Al Smith dinner. Someone, almost certainly here, commented on the behavior of the men sitting on either side of Trump at a particular moment in his speech that I had completely missed until it was pointed out, even though I had watched it a couple of times. I see it now, wondering if anyone else does.

From my limited perspective after much digging, my understanding is that the Sicilians (who I have opinions about where they came from) were pushed out by some major players that happen to be local, in order to make way for what I'm guessing is the crew you're talking about, that "oligarchy," although that word seems high-minded for a bunch of wheeling and dealing financial thugs, so I agree with you, if we're talking the same "Mafia."За здоровье!

When I was living on the streets of a certain big city, being the social creature I am, I would talk to other street people. I saw something in their stories that they did not realize was there. There are a lot of single old men, one-room-occupants (OROs they're called by social worker types) , who are preyed on systematically. These old guys typically go to places that serve meals for free, the predators will befriend them, offer them a place to live, the old guys start getting their mail there, and the next thing you know they're disappeared and their pensions are siphoned every month.
