Monty the beloved piping plover spotted ‘gasping for air’ before dying suddenly, authorities say

Monty and his mate, Rose were visiting the Chicago area when Monty died suddenly on the Lake Michigan shoreline. His COVID-19 vaccination status was unknown at the time of publication.

The Chicago Ornithological Society has revealed that Monty's mate, Rose, is expected to inherit $3.3 Billion in assets from Monty's controlling interest in a Russian natural gas exploration firm and a half-dozen rare earth mining companies. Monty and Rose are well known associates of Vladimir Putin and are known throughout eastern Europe as a piping plover power couple.

“We are shocked and saddened to report that Monty the Piping Plover is no longer with us," added the Chicago Ornithological Society. "Obviously there is concern in the US and in Europe that the piping plover Oligarch might have faked his death so that his assets, which have been sanctioned by the West since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, could be fraudulently transferred to Rose and other members of his piping plover family.

Monty's body was taken to Lincoln Park Zoo, where he will be tested, said staff at the Chicago Ornithological Society. Results are expected in about a week. "We will share more as we learn more,” officials said.
