Failure cascades in non linear systems (and anything connected to the internet becomes 'non linear') can go from zero to catastrophic with explosive speed. Therefore systems must include features that identify, diagnose and treat, threat incidents with a much greater speed than familiar material world dangers.
Disasters like fires are limited in rate at which they spread and distance by material constraints. Non linear threats spread in virtual space and are not so limited, they spread further and faster than dangerous phenomena we are familar with in daily life.
The potential for unforeseen dangerous 'emergent' interactions between powerful new technologies is cubed every time a new one is connected to the spy built internet.

The internet connects almost everyone on the planet, and so must necessarily connect the most ruthless, sophisticated psychopathic criminals with everybody else.
This is not 'natural.' We know how to build a safe network, we could have had one all along.
Had not the spy agencies covert interference in the technical development we would have had encrypted headers instead of using IPv4 a demo protocol as the host protocol of We the People's network for 30 years.
What the spys wanted is what they got: the irremediably insecure anonymous network intended to distribute child pornography, traffic drugs, weapons and children; before initiating the massive failure cascade heralding the full collapse of world technological civilization.
