In Rev. 17-18 we see the same 10 kings described in Daniel who received their kingdoms at the fall of the Roman Empire, when it was carved up into the kingdoms of Western Europe we are all familiar with today.
There are seven clues in Revelation that God gives to identify the anti-Christ, which along with Daniel's clues, make 18. No other power on earth but Papal Rome matches ALL eighteen. For example, there is more than one city built on seven hills, but only one is noted for the colors of scarlet and purple which are the official colors of Cardinals and Bishops. It also rose at the fall of the Roman Empire among its divisions, in Western Europe, has a man at its head who blasphemes God by claiming his prerogatives, and slaughtered the saints of God in bloody inquisitions, etc., etc.
