Virginia Middle School Teacher Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
A Virginia middle school teacher has been arrested on child pornography charges.Kristine Knizner, 28, a teacher at Irving Middle School in Springfield, was arrested after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off police about someone at a Fairfax County IP address having child sexual abuse material on their Snapchat account. An investigation led police to the home of Knizner where they executed a search warrant and found that she lives alone. “Photos and videos of child pornography were found on several of the teacher’s social media applications,” Fox News reports. Police said that none of the victims appear to be her students. Knizner has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, but has now been released on a $2,000 unsecured bond. In a letter to parents, Irving Middle School announced that Knizner has been placed on leave. “While investigators have not identified any offenses related to FCPS students, FCPS is cooperating with police as they investigate this serious matter,” the letter said. The school is also making social workers and councilors available to families.
“Investigators said they want to hear from anyone with information regarding other cases involving this teacher. Those with information can call the police department’s Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 6,” WTOP reports. “Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by calling 866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477) or texting “FCCS” plus tip to 84741.
