Talk story about Jacqueline de Pothschild Piatigorsky, 81, widow of the great Russian-American cellist Gregor Piatigorsky. Her house in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles is filled with mementos of her husband. Tells about last week's Piatigorsky Legacy concert at Carnegie Hall, with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in music by Bernstein, Stravinsky, and John Tavener. Soloist was British cellist Steven Isserlis, who won this year's NEC/Piatigorsky Artist Award. Mrs. Piatigorsky has been the No. 2-ranked chess player in the U.S., an artist, musician, tennis player, and author of the 1988 memoir "Jump in the Waves." Her father was Baron Edouard de Pothschild, the head of the Banque Rothschild in Paris. She reminisces about her husband.
