The approved procedure for dealing with school shooters is to engage them immediately and not wait for backup or SWAT. Often they will surrender or commit suicide when faced with armed opposition.

Article claiming suspect involved in shooting prior to entering school. There is a shootout in your little town and nobody locks the doors at the school? No fucking way.
Any pictures of hearses/ambulances removing bodies from the school? Real ones tend to be very messy (censored photo from Paris concert shooting).

The dead people in the original photo looked pretty real. Unlike Vegas (where there is no blood/bodies) where you could watch the "cleanup" and "investigation" on the chans live streamed in high definition.

That would explain the crash. Being in a police chase/shoot out would also explain. Makes him gaining entry to the school unopposed seem even less plausible. If he shot his Grandma XXX feet from the school and then got into a police chase/shootout in the three blocks between her house and the school someone would have locked the doors. Were the sirens on? How many police cars/officers were involved in the chase/shootout? Better nail down and document their claims as they evolve.
