“Being the robber barons of the piece, we’re sort of the evil people you root for because we’re fun,” says Coon of the roles played by her and her onscreen husband, Morgan Spector.

As Bertha Russell, a robber baron’s wife on The Gilded Age, Carrie Coon swans around her Fifth Avenue mansion wearing the finest couture from French designers and coldly commanding her sprawling staff. But there is no trace of Bertha’s imperiousness when the Emmy and Tony Award–nominated actor (Fargo, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) signs onto Zoom on a recent weekday, harried from a day packing up her Chicago household for an impending move with two young children underfoot. “My husband”—playwright and fellow actor Tracy Letts—“said to me before he left, ‘I’m starting to understand the appeal of having a staff,’” said the Ohio native as she situated herself in frame, in front of an upturned mattress. “I was like, ‘I’ll settle for a cook.’”

The first victim of the Texas school massacre has been named as a 44 year-old special ed teacher - as it was revealed her police officer husband held an active shooter drill at the Uvalde high school just two months ago.

Eva Mireles, 44, was one of 22 people killed at Robb Elementary School Tuesday. The death toll has risen to 19 children, and three adults. That includes Mireles, gunman Salvador Ramos, 18, who was killed by cops, and a third adult who has not been named.

Hauntingly, Mireles husband Ruben Ruiz, a police officer at Uvalde School District, held an active shooter drill at Uvalde High School, on March 22, two months before his wife's murder. Both the gunman and the cop were once students at the school.

The 16 year-veteran was snapped in chilling Facebook photos where he and his fellow officers posed as active shooters, with students playing dead by laying on the floor of their school during the drill.

'Our overall goal is to train every Uvalde area law enforcement officer so that we can prepare as best as possible for any situation that may arise,' the department posted above photos of the drills.

Other shots of the drill show a man armed with a mock knife posed to attack a woman in what appears to be the auditorium.

Another shot shows the same mock assailant facing off with one of the training officer who is pointing an orange gun at him.

Ken Paxton, the attorney general for Texas, told Fox News that more teachers should carry guns.

'We can't stop bad people from doing bad things,' he said, adding that he had 'never understood that argument'.

'We can harden these schools. We can create points of access that are difficult to get through.

'We can potentially arm and prepare and train teachers and other administrators to respond quickly.

'The reality is that we don't have the resources to have law enforcement at every school.

A new political action committee has launched to call on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to run for president in 2024.

The 'Ready for Ron' PAC is led by Ed Rollins, Ronald Reagan's campaign chairman in in 1984, the year he won a landslide victory and cinched 49 states, and Lilian Rodriguez-Baz, an appellate attorney and conservative activist.

The draft committee is unaffiliated with DeSantis himself, and now is working to amass an army of supporters to convince him to run for president.

The group avoided badmouthing former President Trump, who has consistently teased a 2024 race, but says they are moving in on DeSantis since Trump has not announced his candidacy.

'The era of President Trump was wonderful, but now, since he isn't currently running, we must get ready for a new leader, we must be Ready for Ron,' Rollins said in a statement.

A week before the 1982 election, on October 25, Rollins suffered two strokes, the result of a deteriorating neck artery that had been injured during his final boxing match in 1967. He recovered and returned to his White House job in December 1982, holding the position until resigning in October 1983 to lead Reagan's re-election campaign.[dead link][7] In the second term, he rejoined the Reagan Administration for several months in 1985 as Assistant to the President for Political and Governmental Affairs.[8]

Rollins signed on to plan the campaign of Michele Bachmann (R), U.S. representative for Minnesota's 6th district. At the time of his appointment, Bachmann had not yet announced her candidacy but was expected to make her intentions known in June 2011.[15] Rollins "stepped down from running day-to-day operations of the Bachmann campaign" as of September 2011, citing health reasons.[16] Later, it was revealed that he had suffered a stroke.[17]
